The following contains spoilers from the final “Fall” chapter of Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life. Proceed with an abundance of caution.
TV fans got two revivals for the price of one while watching the “Fall” episode of Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life. Within the first 30 minutes of the climactic chapter, Lauren Graham’s Lorelai — in the midst of a Wild-esque personal retreat — has separate run-ins with two park rangers, played by her former Parenthood co-stars Peter Krause and Jason Ritter.
Unlike fellow Parenthood star Mae Whitman’s previously announced guest stint in the “Spring” chapter, the appearances by Krause (who’s also Graham’s real-life squeeze) and Ritter were kept under tight wraps.
TVLine spoke to both actors about how their hush-hush cameos cameo about:
Graham personally wrangled both actors for the gig | “Lauren came home one day and said, ‘Would you like to play a Park Ranger?'” Krause recalls. “And I said, ‘Can I take a look at [the script]?’ She said, ‘Come one. Just do it.’ And I said, ‘When I was a kid I always wanted to be a park ranger so… sure. Cool.'” Ritter’s invite, meanwhile, came via a text from Graham.
Krause and Ritter shot their scenes on the same day, although the former was on borrowed time | “I was under the gun time-wise because I needed to go back across town to resume shooting The Catch,” he explains of the ABC drama in which he currently stars. “It was the first time in my career where I filmed two TV series in one day.” Krause was around long enough to partake in what Ritter calls “a nice little high-five moment,” adding, “It was like a little Parenthood reunion.”
Ritter struggled to get into character | “The hardest part, really, was not being charmed by Lauren,” he confesses. “She’s one of the most charming people in the world playing one of the most charming characters in the world. And she’s stumbling around and I have to be like, ‘You’re taking up my time!'” Ritter adds that he was “initially terrified” about his Gilmore stint, likening it to “your first day first day of school and I’m the new kid and they’re gonna beat me up or find me out. But it was so much fun.”

I loved both cameos. Krause in particular was fabulous. “What’s your name?” “Park Ranger.” “Well, PARK…”
keesha karma
Were you trying to tag someone???
So this show is a continuation of a previous show or something?
You’re joking, right?
I thought there was going to be a Michelle Obama cameo. Was that cut?
That was just for Snapchat and an initiative that FLOTUS was working on.
Anybody else think that the person who played Gypsy also played Emily’s maid, Berta?
The resemblance crossed my mind as soon as I saw her but I’ll have to refresh my memory when I re-watch all 4 again tomorrow. If it was the same person then you have a really good eye.
I think it was.
Oh it’s most definitely Rose Abdoo, yes.
She did
Who was the uncredited actress who played Berta? I can’t find it on IBDB. I’m thinking it was Rose Abdoo.
It was Rose Abdoo. There’s a separate article about it.
I was VERY pleasantly surprised! Giggling like a school girl!
I cannot believe they left us on a cliff hanger again!!
I love loved loved the surprises! What a kick!
These cameos made me smile.
It’s frustrating because Rory is going to the the same existence as her mother. Remember, a rich boy –Christopher– could have but didn’t marry Lorelei and then he fathered another child just as they got back together, so Logan will be the father and Rory will eventually live with and marry Jess. They will fall in love, but her child will always know that Logan is her father. This will be the Lorelei the fourth. It’s so unoriginal. I expected more. The child will grow up rich and enter Chilton and probably become a Puff. Not her best work, so totally disappointed.
What if Rory would have a boy?
I honestly think it’s the Wookie’s baby😁😂
Rory’s 32, not 16, so she’s already on a different path than her mother.
Where was Mae Whitman in the Spring episode? I guess I have to rewatch my very least favorite episode to find her. Can you give me a hint at least as to what part it was, beginning, middle or end?
Mae Whitman is in the part where they are walking down the street in New York and are standing in line for the Crodoughcakes. She ends up getting out of the line and Lorelei ends up giving her one from her bag. I hope that helps. :-)
Thanks
These cameos made the episode for me!
Thank you. I knew I recognized Mr. Park Ranger but couldn’t place him (i.e.: Sports Night). FYI – Now it’s time for Shonda Rhimes to meet Lauren Graham and cast her as Dr. Kathleen Shepherd (i.e. Derek’s “shrink” sister).
