One of the Hawaii Five-0 team members is paid a visit by a very ominous individual in this deleted scene from the series finale that aired April 3 on CBS.
As TVLine previously reported, multiple small cliffhangers were cut from the CBS series’ grand finale once it was decided that there would in fact be no Season 11. One of the scenes involved a relationship beat between Tani and Junior (played by Meaghan Rath and Buelah Koale), where the former discovers that the latter has been somewhat supporting the family of the ex whose boyfriend he killed (in Season 9, Episode 16).
One of the other deleted finale moments appears above. In the exclusive TVLine clip, Adam (Ian Anthony Dale) is greeted at HQ by a most unwelcome guest — Ryo (Michael Hagiwara), a Yakuza bigwig — who comes bearing news that portends to have the lawman being ever more mindful of his actions and occasional interactions with the Japanese crime syndicate. (As you’ll recall, Adam was under the Yakuza’s thumb for some of the final season, until he betrayed them bigtime.) Press play above to hear the stern warning given to Adam, ahead of the Season 11 that would never be.
This and other deleted scenes — as well as extended scenes, a gag reel and more special features — are all a part of Hawaii Five-0: The Final Season, a five-DVD collection available Tuesday, July 28 from CBS Home Entertainment and Paramount Home Entertainment. (Shop for it here.)

Too soon.
Tani and junior could have been a spin off show basis
How about spin-off with Chin & Kono, before they left…
I miss Hawaii Five-0 so much already, it is one of tv’s all time best dramas and Friday night shows in particular.
This may sound crazy but I really think they could have continued the show without McGarrett and Danny. They were good about bringing in new characters. Lou could have taken over as the new leader, Lincoln Cole could have joined the team and they could have recruited a new member in the premiere.
I agree!! Still have hope that they realize they made a mistake cancelling the show.
I agree. There would be mystery behind Lincoln’s character that could be explored. They just needed, perhaps, one additional character to round out the group. Heck, they could have added another young-ish character, who later turned out to be Steve’s sone (that he never knew about). But the problem was, if they had renewed H5O, what would they have done with MacGyver and Mangnum on Friday nights.
it had 10 seasons, that’s more than most shows. i’m okay with the show ending.
I agree. In the latter seasons, it become far less about Danny and Steve, with the team expanding. Even Chin and Kono (during their time) had become bigger in the their roles.
All of that would have worked for me. Chi McBride was awesome as Lou, and I liked Lincoln Cole/
Absolutely agree. I will miss this show so much. As I will probably never get to hawaii its lovely looking at aces I can only dream of. 😪

THat this had to be cut to make it not a set up for s11 is part of why I don”t believe the party line that it was CBS that chose to end it. studios don’t just cancel top 3 performing shows. I believe Alex and Scott wanted out (with good reason) and refused to come back and CBS wanted to try and continue but knew that without McDanno, the show didn’t work so it was canned.
Might also have been due to the issues with Lenkov that came out a bit later, although Alex did say 2-3 years ago that he was close to ready to end it due to the physical toll on him, and Scott was in fewer and fewer eps every year.
I agree. CBS pulling the plug came out of the blue. I can’t help but think it was more about Lenkov. Who knows what was going on, but maybe Alex and Scott would have felt differently if he’d been pulled out earlier.
Actually Alex got rehab for his body and started letting the stunt people do their jobs for him (he did 90% of his own stunts is why his body was wrecked) and it’s why he stayed on the last 2 yrs. So that’s not why he would have left after S10.
It’s not just the stunts though, from what we hear an hour long drama needs 5-6 days of shooting 12-16 hours a day to produce an episode. There have been plenty of actors who’ve said it’s too much for them E.g. Sasha Alexander when she left NCIS or (rumoured but denied) Ruby Rose on Batwoman
He has long term damage and he’s also spoken about wanting more time with his family for a long time. Not to mention PL was an a*hole and had spoken very unprofessionally about AOL and Scott (and others) in the past, and I suspect he wanted out. hi contract was up, he didn’t need money, he wanted to leave, o he did
CaseyM, if PL had made negative comments about AOL, they must’ve gotten things straightened out; at Paleyfest (Dolby Theater, 23 Mar 2019), they were praising each other! And, I think PL is the reason SC got the People’s Choice Award (during Season 1) – Caan didn’t want to work in Hawaii! I think the award was an incentive for Caan to stay!
He has continued to make several negative comments about both long after paleyfest, well into this year and after the finale. NOTHING said during things like Paleyfest can ever truly be taken seriously. they are promoting the show. of COURSE everything is flowers and chocolates at such events. they promote the whole ‘we’re one big happy family’ party line. every show and movie does this. its the same with comic cons, just recently the cast of Justice League spoke out about how bad whedon was after taking over, yet the year previous they sung his praises. because that was what they were told to do. that was their JOB. that was the narrative the studio wanted. nothing at such events can be taken at face value, ever. it is a job, a role, part of promoting the show. the actors are coached on what to say, how to answer, points the studio want mentioned and hit, certain phrases that the studio want said. this is PR 101
I agree with you…the show is nothing without Alex l
and Scott…they are two of the of the most multi talented actors around…they were the heart and soul of hawaii five0…I thank them for 10 years of hard work and amazing memories…I do hope to see them work on some projects in the future..
Agree with you. Lenkov slagged off Alex and Scott in interviews after the finale and with the unsurprising news about his behaviour over the years I’m not surprised they had finally had enough of it.
Yeah, he was really unprofessional, and he’d made similar comments over the years, basically that Alex and scott were only playing games, it wa all about money, they could be bought back etc. I firmly believe a lot of the degredation of Danny as a character was PL trying to ”punish’ Caan for his reduced workload and not wanting to be there all the time. Danny was an incredibly gifted Detective, very smart and insightful but there wee whole seasons when the writers treated him like he was some guy on a tour of the Palcce that got lost, swept up int he taskforce and didn’t wanna tell anyone so just tried his best, its like they forgot he was a good cop. Then the whole Rachel nonsense – please, like you’d even entertain getting back together with a woman that HID YOUR CHILD from you and fully intended to NEVER tell you about him if he hadn’t gotten sick. her behaviour was unforgiveable. be cordial for your kids, sure, but get back together with her? Danny had more self-respect than that. Caan always said he loved the character stuff most, so PL took it away.
DDK and GP always said that money was not their entire reason for leaving and given the rumours about PL for years and then the confirmations, I’m not surprised they left. Good for them. Im sure AOL and Caan had also had more than enough and saw light at the end of the tunnel. I don’t think CBS wanted to cancel it at all but their hand was forced because without McDanno the show doesn’t work
Yeah even when Scott was there they didn’t use him to his full potential but I always thought Lenkov didnt like Scott and with the news that’s come about it’s probably true which makes sense with Danny’s characterisation.
In the finale Lenkov also got back at Alex by making him eat his words in regards to interviews he did about Steve and Catherine and how they shouldn’t get back together and she wasn’t the one that got away.
GP and DDK deserved so much better than they got. So many people thought they left cause they got greedy which I’m sure was a narrative Lenkov was happy with.
Personally, Alex got his own back too – Steve looks constipated through that whole scene. PL can try and push the narrative that it was the first time Steve had truly smiled in years, but that’s BS. The way he has smiled at Danny, at his team, even earlier in the episode was better than that. Quite apart from my dislike of Cath as a cahracter and how toxic i found their relationship for Steve, her literally inviting herself along on his personal journey was gross and hugely assumptive (she left 5+ years ago. it is OVER. Steve spent years saying she was NOT the one, not his girl, not the one that got away and that they were ot meant to be. then in the finale she’s all the one, the one that got away, his girl? naaaah). Alex said he’d play it the way it should be played if he was forced to, and personally he did. Steve looks around the plane like he’s looking for other people around her. he looks not happy that she’s there. PL can try and push the narrative about how they wwere star crossed lovers desperately in love for years and years and years but they never were. Cath”s character worked when she wa a guest star booty call. when PL tried the whole ‘no wait actually they’re super duper in love’ thing it stopped working and then Cath became Doris 2.0 but Steve just forgives nad forgives and forgives, making himself look like an idiot? over and over. nah. it makes him look weak and pathetic. He’s leaving Hawaii because of the pain it caused him, so he leaves with the woman responsible for some of that pain? blech. What I found amusing was how PL would go on about how ALex knew Steve better than anyone, even him. then alex would give an interview and criticise a plot (ie McRollins) and almost immediately PL would come out with how nobody knew the characters and what they needed better than him. nope, nope he didn’t. The cast kknew their characters best and certainly respected them more than PL ever did
PL did the same with Danny – no WAY on earth would Danny EVER consider getting back with Rachel after she hid his child for years, never planned to tell him if Charlie wasn’t ill, and lied to EVERYONE about his parentage. that was unforgiveable. utterly. yet Danny wasn’t even allowed to be upset for more than five minutes and then a couple years later he’s all ‘lets try again’? noooo Danny has some self-respect. PL’s views on women were clear throughout the show – they were either hired for what they looked like in a bikini and as blank dull love interests or they were lying deceptive shrews. VERY few were allowed to be real people (Kono, Tani, Quinn) but even then Kono only got that for a couple year because once Adam arrived, 90% of her time was spent talking about ADam, worrying about Adam, thinking about Adam, moping about Adam, Adam Adam Adam. she went from awesome Kono to one half of Adam’n’Kono. that whole relationship was laughable (as though a cop on the premier law enformcment team would be allowed to date the child of the yakuza leader. Dennings would have thrown a fit and every defence lawyer in the world would rip her apart on the stand. a rumour ended Chin’s career. yet she marries a man who was leader of the yakuza, used their resources to kidnap Wo Fat, planned murder, committed murder himseslf – yes it was self defence but a lawyer would not care – and everyone is cool??? HA
Was that a cliffhanger? Seemed more like an ending to me. If Adam was like, “its not the last time you’ll see me cause I’m gonna take you down” that would be a cliffhanger.
can they please bring the show back now they got rid of the producer ?
Still annoyed that they cut out scenes from the finale to be finale-like, in my opinion, removing some of the better scenes lol Wish they would have continued it, even without McGarrett and/or Danny. The rest of the cast could have taken over easily.
CBS should have never cancelled this show we need good shows like this especially during this time..H50 had it all…suspense, action, compassion. Alex and the crew had a way of really drawing g the audience in . I will miss it immensely.
I’m still devastated about the show being canceled. Lincoln Cole added a new dimension and loved Adam’s arc on the show. I know they felt it needed both Steve and Danny to continue, but feel, like many others, the show could have went on without them. I’ll miss Hawaii Five O. My Fridays haven’t been the same since it was canceled.
There was absolutely no reason for there not to be a season 11. There were plenty of cast members to carry on and stories to explore. If Alex and Scott didn’t want to do a full season, the writers could have written around them and just had them do some episodes or make guest appearances. As much as I love Alex on the show, I could live with him not being on every episode if it meant Hawaii Five-O staying on the air.
Bring back 50 with the new man they had in the last few episodes. Have mcgarett have guest appearances. It was a really good show.
I want more Hawaii 5 O!!!!! It was the best. Please bring it back for another season. So many good shows have been cancelled. It always had good ratings. Why Why Wh???? Bring it back!
Very sad there will not be a season 11 of Hawaii Five-O 😭😭 Hopefully powers at be will change their mind and do plenty more seasons.
Very over.
I would ha e loved for Steve and Katherine to have gotten married in the last episode. Somehow I feel that would have ended things better since he was leaving Five-0 to
start a new life. Just having Katherine get on the plane didn’t really finish anything f for me. It would have been nice to see a happy ending, rather than one where everyone was so sad and choked up. Just my opinion. ☺️
Couldn’t disagree more. Steve moved on. Cath left over five years ago after repeatedly lying to and deceiving Steve. Steve spent those years denying that she was the one, that she was the one that got away, that she was not meant to be. he moved on. Alex was against the relationship and against Steve ever taking her back. her inviting herself along, unrequested, to his journey was extreemly preumptive and rude. steve didn’t look happy for her to be there. how long would she stay this time? a day, a week? before the CIA called her away? why would you want Steve to marry Doris 2.0? Steve didn’t ‘leave five oh for a new life’ he TEMPORARILY left Hawaii to heal. Cath is personally responsible for some of that pain. their relationship was terrible, there was no trust, lies, deceit, Cath chosing everyone over Steve time and again, including a woman who lied to him for 20 years, was rewsponsible for his father dying and chose Wo Fat over her own son. cath knew doris about 1.5 days befor siding with her. she hurt Steve time and again. him marrying her would be the opposite of a happy ending.
but we all have different opinions.
This is my 2 cents on the finale…. In the episode as shown, the plane is taking off. Not much Steve can do but grin and bear it. This last scene in my head is what should have been:
The plane lands wherever it lands…Steve walks with Catherine off the plane, cordial but aloof. At the luggage carousel, he gives her a quick hug (she did mean something to him at one time after all). He then holds her at arm’s length as he looks her in the eye and says “It was nice to catch up, Catherine, but this is the last time. I truly hope you find happiness someday but it won’t ever be with me. Goodbye”. He grabs his bag and walks away. She calls after him but he just keeps walking. Never acknowledging her in any way. Outside the terminal, he looks up at the beautiful clear starlit sky, takes a deep breath, smiles and walks away into the night.
Scene and end
The last H5-O DVD I purchased was Season 7. Enjoyed the new crew, but missed the “cousins” too much, to buy the later ones! Wonder though, if there’s a way to buy the 10th Anniversary T-shirt. I attended the final SOTB, September 19th (Queen’s Surf Beach, Oahu), but I had to leave early. Can’t find it at CBS Store or Amazon!
I loved this show! Every season kept getting better and better! And when it combined with Magnum was the absolute BEST EVER!
If they were going to delete any scene it should have been the last one. They didn’t have time to bring back the regulars, who happen to live in Hawaii, to say goodbye but did have time to bring back an actress who lives in LA despite her history of bullying and harassing fans? Guess it did pay to be part of Lenkov’s bigoted friend group.
PL’s constant pushing of Cath and Stever in love was just so stupid and totally against what actually showed on tv and Alex loathed it. steve is leaving because he needs to heal so the woman responsible for much of his pain invites herself along (presumptive as hell) and he leavews with her? nope. Cath is a lying deceitful waste of time, Michelle Borth was unpleasant as hell to fans right from the off, and both Alex nad the majority of the fans were not fans of McRollins. just because a loud minority called it ‘goals’ (seriously? want better for yourself than lying, deception, constant leaving and zero support from your partner during tough times because where was she when anything big happened? oh right, not there) doesn’t mean she should have come back. Nahele? nope not there to say goodbye. kame? nope. both hawaiian actors that are local. yet they bring her back? PL’s obsession with Cath and/or Michelle Borth ruined aspects of the show and weakened Steve’s character, making him look like an absolute chump for constantly taking her back and even apologising for being upset by her behaviour
PL thought he knew what was important to each episode; so much so that, even when his scripts led to “historic missteps”, his ego led him to believe he was better informed than the fans or stars! Btw, since PL has been accused of bolstering a “boy’s club” atmosphere, while showing disrespect and disdain for women and non-White actors, why do ppl keep alluding to him disparaging AOL and/or SC? SC requested and got reduced time on the set; both he and AOL maintained decent salaries, plus “back-end” pkgs, while minorities (especially women) came and went!
It’s not allusion, its fact. he repeatedly, any time Alex spoke about his injuries and thoughts of leaving, would give interviews about how it was only game playing, thaat alex wasn’t leaving, that he and scott were just holding out for more money, that alex could be bought back by cbs if the number was high enough. if alex gave an interview about a plot he didn’t like (mcrollins for instance), PL would give an interview that he kenw best, that nobody knew the characters like him. why assume that AOL and Caan were part of the boys club? do you think perhaps part of Caan not doing things like paleyfest and other interviews (despite literally being in the same city at the same time) and wanting to be away from set was about more than just not liking living in hawaii? perhaps he didn’t want to be round PL. nobody,, except those involved, know who was and wasn’t in PL’s little inner circle, but why assume they were imply because they’re male and the leads
In answer to your question re: SC, not wanting anything to do with PL may be EXACTLY why he was a no-show. As you’ve said, only those in the know can say one way or the other! So, since each of us is entitled to his/her opinion, why not end the ” back-and-forth”! Wishing the best to you and yours!
I’m going by what was reported about PL, and something Grace P stated, when she finally spoke up (earlier this year; her topic: PL’s “boy’s club”!) I don’t doubt, for a minute, that AOL wanted nothing to do with PL’s nonsense! I trust that he wanted to gain respect for his craft (and have H5-O continue), on his own merit! What PL wanted was probably power! And, it didn’t include non-White actors (again, according to commentary re: Lenkov)! This, for me, is not about disliking or accusing the actors – I’ve been a fan of AOL since his appearance on The Shield!
