With one Hollywood strike resolved and one more still to end, HBO on Thursday offered a few timetable updates for its slate of new and returning shows.
House of the Dragon, which has continued production on Season 2 amid the SAG-AFTRA strike, is eyeing an early Summer 2024 return, according to network CEO and chairman Casey Bloys. The Game of Thrones prequel began shooting its sophomore season in April; it will span eight episodes, down from the 10 installments of Season 1.
But before House of the Dragon returns next summer, several other HBO and Max series are slated for returns in the first half of 2024, including Curb Your Enthusiasm (which has a return month of February for Season 12), Hacks (Season 3), The Sex Lives of College Girls (Season 3), Tokyo Vice (Season 2), Pretty Little Liars: Summer School (Season 2) and My Brilliant Friend (returning for its fourth and final season sometime in the spring).
Among new series, the Kate Winslet-led political drama The Regime will debut in Spring 2024, while Max’s long-gestating Dune: Prophecy prequel series is slated for a Fall 2024 start. Also due out next year are the espionage comedy The Sympathizer and the superhero movie-making spoof The Franchise.
You may have noticed, though, that some of HBO’s buzziest titles aren’t on the 2024 calendar at all. Indeed, Bloys also confirmed on Thursday that The White Lotus‘ third season won’t arrive until 2025, as will Season 3 of teen drama Euphoria (the delay of which had previously been hinted at earlier this year). Also bumped to 2025 is Max’s It prequel series Welcome to Derry. (Read more about HBO’s 2025 plan.)
The Last of Us, meanwhile, has the vaguest timetable of all: Production on Season 2 is now expected to start in early 2024, giving it a 2025-at-soonest return date.

Just once I would like to read an article on tv line to conclusion without the advertisements refreshing the page every 15 seconds on my iPhone.
Fully agree constant reloading and often times keeps taking me back up higher in the article and lose comments all the time and give up
I use the Brave browser. It blocks all the ads and pop-ups. TVLine runs very smooth using it.
It’s so awful!
I use a browser and Adblock. I know that ads help keep the lights on at TVLine, but so long as they remain so obnoxiously obtrusive I cannot whitelist. Sorry.
Get yourself a decent adblocker from the app store. Best two bucks I ever spent.
Can’t wait for My Brilliant Friend
Curb and Hacks are the 2 shows I’m most looking forward to with the new season.
Why doesn’t HBO run everything in HBO and stream it all on Max? Anyone know why some of their stuff runs only on Max and completely bypasses the big daddy, HBO? Are they trying to eradicate DVRs?
They’re… trying to get people to sign up for Max?

I guess True Detective was left off this list of 2024 releases because it already has a date? (January 14th) Been looking forward to Jodie Foster in this series forevah!
