Kate Middleton, Princess of Wales, is in remission and focused on recovery, roughly one year after she was diagnosed with cancer in the wake of major abdominal surgery.
“It is a relief to now be in remission and I remain focussed on recovery,” Middleston shared on Instagram, alongside a photo of her at The Royal Marsden Hospital in London, England, where she received treatment.
“As anyone who has experienced a cancer diagnosis will know, it takes time to adjust to a new normal,” she added. “I am however looking forward to a fulfilling year ahead. There is much to look forward to. Thank you to everyone for your continued support.”
Middleton also offered up a “thank you to The Royal Marsden for looking after me so well during the past year,” and her “heartfelt thanks… to all those who have quietly walked alongside [husband] William and me as we have navigated everything.”
Noting that “the care and advice we have received throughout my time as a patient has been exceptional,” Middleton previewed her future as Joint Patron of The Royal Marsden: “My hope is, that by supporting groundbreaking research and clinical excellence, as well as promoting patient and family wellbeing, we might save many more lives, and transform the experience of all those impacted by cancer.”
It was last March, amid weeks of speculation about an MIA Middleton’s whereabouts, that Kensington Palace issued an official update on the Princess of Wales’ condition, confirming that she had been diagnosed with cancer that January, and was actively undergoing treatment. The news was delivered in a video message from the princess herself.
Very happy for her. I just wish we could get to the point where the word cured can be used instead of remission.🤞
