Kristen Wiig Reprises ‘Target Lady’ SNL Role in New Target Ads — WATCH
Ahead of her return to Studio 8H to host this weekend’s Saturday Night Live, sketch series alum-turned-Palm Royale star Kristen Wiig can be seen reprising her “Target Lady” character in a series of new TV spots for the retail chain.
As part of a national ad campaign celebrating the return of “Target Circle Week” 🤷🏻♂️ and the kickoff of the new Target Circle, Wiig headlines a cheeky teaser spot as well as one titled “Dream” (watch above) and a third titled “Peanut Butter” (watch below).
The campaign — which will feature 12 total spots appearing across TV, social media, digital platforms and more — was created in partnership with Wiig, former SNL writer Jameson Anderson and director Tom Kuntz, with Wiig ad-libbing a handful of lines along the way.
The music featured in the ads is “Baby I’m a Star” by the iconic Prince and the Revolution.
Wiig isn’t just returning to host any ol’ SNL this Saturday, April 6; rather, in doing so, she will join the increasingly less-exclusive Five-Timers Club. Raye will serve as musical guest.
Ryan Gosling will then host the April 13 SNL, with musical guest Chris Stapleton.

Five already, wow! It is a growing list as they rely less on new faces and more on existing talent.
I also think right now the cast is in a bit of a slump and they’re relying on good hosts to keep the show afloat. Hopefully better once solid junior cast members like Sarah and Marcello are leading the show. Nobody has any great recurring characters right now unless you include what Sarah does as a recurring “torture Colin on Update” bit.

I remember when on any given week I’d wonder whether I’d see Stefan, Drunk Uncle, Anthony Crispino, the Kitty Kat kid, What Up With That, the Target Lady, Gilly, Garth and Kat, Penelope, Jacob the Bar Mitzvah boy, the Californians, the Italian talk show, honestly I’d have to go on for more than a dozen lines to name them all. But right now the show only has a couple characters from Ego that I can think of and Kenan’s Reese De’What. Oh and Heidi’s boxer’s girlfriend on Update. Bowen Yang also has some pretty awesome one-offs. I’m sure there’s more but they just don’t stand out in my memory.
But she won’t do bridesmaids 2. Ok.
I think she doesn’t want to dilute the original. I’m okay with that.
She should do one where these “Tiktok gownups” trying to get attention are trying to attack her for what Target is selling even though she is just a regular employee and has no control of that stuff.

Surprised they didn’t reuse the Tina Turner version of Baby I’m a Star from their early 2000’s campaign.
