It’s official: Det. Elliot Stabler will remain on the case… just not at NBC.
Law & Order: Organized Crime has been renewed for Season 5, TVLine has learned. In April, news broke that the show was nearing a deal for its upcoming run of episodes to move from NBC to Peacock, and that is exactly what will happen.
John Shiban will return as showrunner for Season 5 — the first time in the spinoff’s history that (fingers crossed) a showrunner will oversee more than one season.
Season 5 will consist of 10 episodes, sources confirm to TVLine.
The Chris Meloni-led Organized Crime was the last Law & Order series, as well as the last of Dick Wolf’s NBC procedurals, awaiting a renewal decision this year. In March, the network re-upped Law & Order for Season 24, Law & Order: SVU for Season 26, Chicago Med for Season 10, Chicago Fire for Season 13 and Chicago P.D. for Season 12.
Season-to-date, Organized Crime is averaging more than 5.4 million total viewers (with Live+7 playback), 851,000 of whom land in the coveted 18-to-49 age demo. Out of the 11 original dramas that NBC has aired this TV season, it ranks seventh in total audience and fifth in the demo.
What do you think about Law & Order: Organized Crime‘s move to Peacock? Will you follow Stabler to the streamer? Hit the comments with your thoughts!
I hate this idea, but since I already have Peacock (because they moved Days Of Our Lives there) I’ll watch it.
I really don’t understand what companion show will potentially lift ratings in that time slot considering the overall TV landscape. The behind the scenes issues with multiple show runners and not working out the overall tone of the show is puzzling to me. Meloni defined the success of SVU along with Mariska and imho deserves better. I hope that this move doesn’t negatively impact the show overall and on Peacock that they have the flexibility to stretch the show further. That been said if they change it too much will they lose more viewers. Also figure out the will they won’t they with Benson once and for all. Ridiculous stringing it out this long.
Also, why not switch the timeslots to see if OC will work better in the 8 or 9pm slot if SVU or the original are easy renewals? Wonder if Meloni wants out of the full season commitment?
I think if it moves to Peacock, it means that they won’t.
From what I have read wanting to NOT work a full season is one of the reasons Chris Meloni left SVU.
I like watching it on NBC and there are people who don’t have streaming service who watch it on antenna Television free Mr Wolf is making them suffer.
Love this show I would hate to see it goI will follow it wherever it goes.
I can’t watch it on Peacock I don’t have streaming service, I will really miss it just like the Seal Team.
I agree. I loved Seal Team and I’ve yet to miss an episode of OC. But with cable, Netflix, and Hulu, I’m not getting Peacock.
I think if you’re a fan of the show and you like the show you would go to any streaming services that the show will go to no matter what Peacock is not that expensive. Everybody can get it if they really want it so yes, I will be following them wherever they go. If you can do it for other shows why not do it for this show it’s a good show and then it can be at the same time law and order SVU comes on Friday so it’s a great thing to do. Why not watch both it was like that before both shows on Fridays for everyone to watch on Peacock streaming services.
Peacock has very little in original programing. Most of their content is reruns of NBC shows. So if Peacock is $9.99/11.99 a month by the time this arrives on the platform you will basically be paying that for one show. It will be a hard pass for me. Or I will wait until the season is over and get it for a month and then cancel. Hopefully by then the second season of Poker Face will have dropped and I can kill two birds with one stone.
Sorry Joe we have lost a lot of programs due to streaming. Our fixed income barely covers meds, rent and food
It has Dr. Death.
Have you forgotten about the existence of the PirateBay?
What angers me more is that there probably won’t be any crossovers between the two series. And maybe Organized crime won’t return in the fall along with SVU.
It does get expensive if you keep adding yet another streaming service. I just can’t do that anymore. Living on senior benefits does not allow for a lot of streaming. I absolutely love the show & will miss it terribly.
Seal Team. Try your local library, all six seasons have been released on DVD.
There’s always pirating…
Keep on NBC it’s paq of Law and Order Thursday. great cast, great show
Will watch this whether it’s on NBC or Peacock, but curious why the move…
In reality they probably considered cancelling, but didn’t want to piss off Dick Wolf who produces their top 5 most-watched shows.
It doesn’t as good of ratings on NBC but does “great” ratings on Peacock
I will watch it on whatever platform it airs on. Just annoyed is only for 10 episodes. They should turn down the serialized part a notch so more casual viewers can follow whenever.
I’m hoping that with it being moved to Peacock they will do longer episodes. Like maybe 60 minutes instead of 40-42. Especially with there only being 10 episodes.
I’m not paying one more penny to any thing to watch TV. My cable bill is extremely high and I’m not giving more money to watch a TV show. As for me – it’s cancelled!
YUP
agree.
peacock cost not worth it.
Sad show is moving, one of the best. Don’t have wifi so can’t get peacock.
It’s a choice, I totally get that but your cable bill is much higher than if you were to have multiple streaming services, just saying. My internet plus three streaming apps is about $100 a month. I was paying over $200 for just basic cable (no streaming) and that was three years or more ago. I was very hesitant and my sister basically talked me into making the switch, and I’m so glad I did. It might be worth taking a look, but like I said, it’s a personal choice.
Just wondering what internet and services you have for 100?
My internet is about 92 a month (only spectrum is in my area) and we pay like 75 for hulu live which includes hulu and Disney+ and regular tv. We also get prime but that’s we only because we like free shipping.
Hulu Live is way more expensive than just Hulu streaming. That’s only $7.99/mo. My internet is about $70 in my area. That plus three apps averaging about $9.99/mo comes to about $100.00, maybe a little over. I have broadcast TV with an antenna in case I want to watch something live, which I do now and again. You can also watch for great deals like on Black Friday where you can get things like Peacock or Hulu for like $25/year. Those are the best!!
So you don’t watch regular tv, news, sports, live as it’s on tv?
Peacock and Paramount+ both have live local channel streaming. I have cut down my costs to about the same as well. I pay $55 for internet in my area, Paramount+ (I pay $100 annually, so I don’t factor it into my monthly), Peacock (5.99 with ads), Hulu/Disney Trio (14.99 with ads), Amazon Prime ($14.99 but that’s the total prime membership). So all in, I’m paying about $100 for internet and streaming tv. I give up live ABC streaming, but the only thing I really watch on there is grey’s anatomy, so I’m not that upset. The only shows I usually watch live are Survivor and Big Brother, anyway.
Peacock has a free option. I don’t know if the OC would be a part of that free offering though.
As it would be a Peacock exclusive I really doubt it.
They no longer have that. It ended in early 2023.
Those of us long term boom cable users with Xfinity get Peacock free with commercials.. Used to get without commercials but I like Peacock for sports as well that have commercials as well… This summer, Peacock will have all the Olympics live which NBC won’t have live depending on the event.. Only problem on Peacock is lack of DVR commercial skipping..
I have my internet through Xfinity and get Peacock for free also.
Xfinity ended the free Peacock last summer, you pay a reduced price than a regular Peacock subscriber, but it is pay now for Xfinity customers.
We have Xfinity and Peacock used to be free but not anymore
I still have it free. I have not paid one cent for it. I only have internet with Xfinity. Maybe its different if you have cable with them. They didn’t even give it to me until about 6 months ago. Maybe they only give it to you free for so long.
I get free Peacock Plus since I’m a long term Xfinity suscriber… It just now has ads which in theory I could ditch for a few dollars but since I watch a lot of sports, would have them anyway…
No they don’t, Peacock got rid of their free tier last year. If you want to watch, you have to pay.
You can get free Peacock with Instacart + membership. I do.
I hope OC will be under the free option choice. I enjoyed Organized Crime & Special Victims Unit ( SVU)
For people who don’t buy cable, getting streaming services is worth it.
AMEN TO THAT!
leave it where it is or put chris meloni back on law and order svu. him and mariska hargitay work great together. i dont have peacock so i wont get to see it anymore. youre making a mike mistake if you move it
HATE IT!! Love the show, do not have Peacock
Will not go to Peacock… Enjoy the show on NBC…Not into streaming
I don’t think Law&Oder Organized should be moved to Peacock
It will go to peacock regardless of anybody’s opinion
Other than the show being freed from broadcast standards on language and violence, I don’t see how this is such a great idea. I like OC but probably not enough to sign up for Peacock.
This absolutely sucks!
Curious how this will affect the crossovers between branches of the L&O franchise, particularly SVU and OC. Assuming they can continue, how will the Benson/Stabler journey play out if they’re still able to go across shows, when not all audience members may tune in to half of the episodes? Bizarre situation.
I hate this! Since I don’t have Peacock, this means I would have to subscribe to another streaming service – which I probably won’t do. So I guess I won’t be able to watch it :(
I will still watch regardless but I must say, this isn’t one of my favorites.
No, bummer. I don’t have streaming. I have Directv. I love show. I am not getting streaming just for that. I am probably the only one who doesn’t have streaming.
I don’t have Peacock either and won’t get it just for this show. With cable rates through the roof, I cannot afford streaming on a very limited income!
Meet number 2 who does not have streaming.
FYI, we have DirecTV streaming and it is great. I think it’s less than the satellite dish option. They also have a robust DVR if you cannot acclimate to watching shows streaming. LOL
NBC eill do anything to get our money.
Almost like they’re a business or something.
Hmm…It seems as if they are a business that needs to make and spend money to stay running.
Horsepucky!!!
I do have Peacock, but it was on the bubble on whether I was going to continue it. Guess I will now, but believe this decision is ill advised.
But typical.
Noooooooooo!!
As long as it is renewed, who cares where it will air.
People who don’t have Peacock, that’s who.
I usually watch on Peacock anyway so it won’t effect me.
Yes, i will, but it could have been renewed on NBC. I wonder why.
I love Organized Crime. It’s the best of the Law & Order series. Chris Meloni brought his A game to this show. I don’t mind it going to Peacock as it can allow the show to be even more edgier than it is. I just wish it was 13 episodes instead of 10. Network tv needs to start adopting the streamer service pattern of having 10-13 episodes. This shorter episode season has made many of the shows I watch better than the last season. A season of 22 episodes has just has made the writers lazy and some of the episodes unwatchable!!!
Do we really need more “edgier” shows? There are enough of those to go around on all of the streaming platforms – plenty of sex, violence, nudity, and language for those who want it. I like that you can still get some decent shows like this without all of that on network TV. So really want this to stay at NBC!!
Chris Meloni has already made this show edgier by simply being on it. There’s definitely a lot more he can bring to the show that maybe NBC wants but can’t do on network tv. I for one do not want him to ever return to SVU. He and Olivia have always had a different style of investigating cases. Plus with her being the captain, he can’t work for her if they are in a relationship. Bottom line I’m just glad it’s not getting canceled. No problem here watching it on Peacock!!!
There’s nothing wrong with a 22-26 episode season on its face. The problem is when the showrunner forces the writers to stretch story arcs to fill the number of episodes rather than using more arcs or a few, well-written stand-alones between or during arcs. I’ve found that OC has been pretty good at reasonable arcs the past couple of seasons. Seasons 1 and 2 reminded me of Arrowverse shows where every arc was at least 25 percent too long..
I don’t like that at all. Just another way to get our money to watch TV!
why why why… move the craptastic OG Law and Order and leave Organized Crime alone!
I agree, move Law and Order to god knows where and leave Organized Crime alone!
I wish NBC would do the same for Quantum Leap, or at least end the series properly.
…and even the Devil himself said “Amen”.
At the very least they need a 2 hour movie where Ben & Addison find Sam Beckett and bring him home.
