The Leverage: Redemption team tries to not interrupt LeVar Burton‘s reading respite in a sneak peek from cast member Beth Riesgraf’s directorial debut, which will air during the second half of the IMDb TV series’ freshman season.
Released on Friday at Comic-Con@Home, the clip above finds Burton guest-starring as Mr. Blanche, a small town librarian (but not a Librarian) who is described as very kind, empathic and extremely liked by locals. A voracious reader, he fantasizes about being a hero like in the books he reads.
And in this episode (which is among the eight slated to premiere sometime this fall), it sounds like the grift at hand is actually a sweet gift: Blanche is quietly battling Stage 4 cancer, so the Leverage team plans a “make believe adventure” to lift his spirits.
Cue the scene above, in which Elliot and Breanna (played by Christian Kane and Aleyse Shannon) aim to stealthily trek over to the library logs to see what sort of novels Mr. Blanche favors, after which Parker (Riesgraf), Sophie (Gina Bellman) and Harry (Noah Wyle) debate what to do with their findings.

Half way through the first half, and I’m glad Leverage is back. It’s always been a fun show.
Finally binged the first 4 eps last night. What a joy it is to be back with this crew!
I am sooo happy to have Leverage back!!! I’ve watched the first 7 episodes and WOW…well done…I’m savoring my last episode.
A sweet nod to the actor Robert Blanche who played Detective Bonanno with his picture on the back of the book LeVar is reading!
I paused it when they showed the cover. While it’s at an angle I’m fairly certain the last name of the author is Bonano :)
The book is titled “Motion to Strike” and the author is indeed our Detective Patrick Bonanno. Presumably after his injury he retired to write fiction.
The blurb quotes are “Patrick has over the years created one o fthe greatest fictional detectives of all time.” and “Makes me wish there were more than twenty-six letters at his disposal.”
Such a nice tribute!
Detective Bonnano wrote a book? I love that.
This looks so good. I loved the first 8 episodes. I am so excited for the fall.
When will it be on regular cable channels?
Probably not for a long time, if ever. It is free to watch.
I loved the first half of the season/series. They’re back in top Leverage form and I look forward to the rest of the season. I love the NOLA relocation. Noah Wyle and Aleyse Shannon have been great additions to the cast. I hope the revival last longer than the original series…which I think was TNT’s fault.
Can we get a Leverage/Librarians crossover of sorts, at least get Rebecca Romijn, John Larroquette or someone else from cast as a guest star (obviously we already have Christian Kane & Noah Wyle). I liked to get some inside jokes.

Though I wouldn’t mind a revival of the series too. We need more quirky shows like these, light hearted series made for everyone.
Spot the Easter egg….the book Levar is reading
Loving the revival. Really well-done. The new cast members are great additions and the original crew is wonderful, as usual. I hope that they make many more episodes.
Best Saturday I’ve had in a year binge watching leverage Redemption
PLEASE SEASON 2 hurry
It is a very distinctive show!!!
I am soooooooooooooo happy they are back.
