Lucky Hank Cancelled AMC Bob Odenkirk

Lucky Hanks luck has run out: AMC has cancelled the Bob Odenkirk-led dramedy after just one season, TVLine has learned.

“We’re proud of Lucky Hank and thankful for the work of everyone who brought this unique, playful and deeply human show to viewers, from the talented creative team to our partners at Sony and, of course, Bob, Mireille and the entire cast and crew,” AMC said in a statement. “Unfortunately, we are not able to proceed with a second season, but we are glad these eight episodes exist on AMC+ and will continue to find new fans — or be seen again by viewers who come back to spend more time with Hank, Lily and the entertaining cast of characters at Railton College.”

Odenkirk starred as Hank Devereaux, a writing professor at a fictional Pennsylvania college. Hank’s frustrations with his students and with his own stalled writing career led to a very public outburst that threatened to derail his teaching tenure and his status as chair of the school’s English department.

Mireille Enos (The Killing) co-starred as Hank’s wife Lily, with Cedric Yarbrough (Reno 9-1-1!) and Suzanne Cryer (Silicon Valley) as two of his fellow professors. The series marked a return to AMC by Odenkirk after co-starring as shady lawyer Saul Goodman on Breaking Bad and then landing his own spinoff, Better Call Saul, that ran for an additional six seasons.

Lucky Hank debuted in March on AMC with an eight-episode freshman season. The May 7 season finale, which saw Hank resign from his college and join his wife Lily in New York City, will now serve as a series finale.
