Alexa Crowe’s life of solving Murder will continue in June.
The Lucy Lawless-led crime drama My Life Is Murder will launch Season 4 with a two-episode premiere Monday, June 17, on Acorn TV. The XL premiere will also air that night on BBC America, at 9/8c.
Two new episodes will premiere weekly each Monday, on Acorn TV and BBC America.
“It’s been great getting the gang back together again for this new season of My Life is Murder,” says Lawless. “These episodes have a bit of everything — from homicidal hairdressers to wicked widows, brutal ballet to deadly soufflés, and we are having an absolute ball filming this series once again. I can’t wait for our fans around the world to see the magic that our fabulous cast and crew have been working hard to produce.”
My Life Is Murder‘s eight-episode Season 4 brings “Eight new mysteries. Eight new worlds. Eight diabolical killers that only Alexa Crowe (played by Lawless) can catch. But this time, Alexa is bringing her friends and family along for the ride: Tech guru Madison (Ebony Vagulans) is stepping up, contributing her considerable technical skills to Alexa’s investigations and the two of them have fallen into a comfortable mentor-mentee relationship. Though neither of them will ever agree on who is the mentor and who is the student.
“Cafe owner Reuben (Joe Naufahu) is stepping in,” the official synopsis continues. “Brother Will (Martin Henderson) is staying close. Detective Harry (Rawiri Jobe) has her back and cranky cat, Chowder, can’t help complicating everything.”
Emboldened by the changes in her life, ready to revisit demons of the past and excited to embrace her future, Alexa in Season 4 “is even more of a force, determined to reveal the most carefully hidden secrets that crack the most bewildering cases. And, somehow, she and her fabulous whanau (chosen family) still have a bunch of fun along the way. Let the Auckland adventures begin again…”
Xena alum Lawless also serves as an executive producer on My Life Is Murder, alongside Rachel Antony, Claire Tonkin, Harriet Crampton, Nicky Davies Williams, Pilar Perez and Don Klees.
All 30 episodes from My Life Is Murder‘s first three seasons can be streamed on Acorn TV, North America’s largest streaming service specializing in premium British and international television.
Fantastic! Hopefully this season will be successful and raise the episode count for additional seasons!
Still hoping for more Acorn TV renewal news. Don’t sleep on some of these shows. They’re really great!
I don’t think that will ever happen. I think the US is the only place 22 episode seasons exist.
Murdoch Mysteries from CBC (Ovation and Acorn TV in the US) have had 24-episode seasons for the past three after never having more than 19 previously. I’ve seen a few other procedurals from Canada and Australia. Season 4 of CTV’s Cold Squad (2000-01) ran 20. Australia’s City Homicide had 22 episodes in season 2 and 24 in season 4. But, it is unusual.
I’m 55 and remember most shows had 20+eps/year,even Scooby Doo 70’s.it was great as a fan of a bunch of shows in the 70’s & 80s. I remember watching the X-Files, the first few series had 20 to 24eps,then they started having shorter seasons. I miss those half hour sit-comes that had 26 eps.
But yeah, I think that was only going on in the states unless they were daily soap operas
I Know, Right?
I was hooked on this after I finished S1E1. Nice friendly supporting characters help keep this Super Sunny, Cozy Mystery light-hearted and funny. Yeah, I said it, these are Funny, Super Sunny, Light-Hearted Mysteries from locations not seen on my my UK shows. You get all that all while the seasons body count starts rising. I was disappointed that Shakespeare and Hathaway didn’t get renewed. Actually, aside from most series being 6eps,you start missing your characters halfway through, but I’ve also seen some great shows disappear, S&H, Darby and Joan, Ms Fisher’s Modern Murder Mysteries, etc. A lot of these Network Originals are as good as the international shows I like. I’ve rambled enough, gonna save some space for others to comment, Good Night ☺.
PS Don’t Sleep on George Gently. I scrolled over it bunches because of the shows B&W thumbnail
Super happy to hear that! Have been checking recently to see if it had been renewed or not. Fun show with great cast, looking forward to new eps.
Yay, wonderful news! So glad it’s coming back, I do enjoy this show and happy to see other’s are enjoying it too. I got Acorn TV on a whim right as the pandemic started and haven’t regretted once, so many shows, originals, imports and the like, to enjoy!
For those that do not have Acorn, check if your local library has Hoopla. The first few seasons of this are available on that service, and if your library has it, you can watch for free.
Hoopla is great for Acorn shows. I finally got to see the second and third Murdoch Mysteries Christmas movies, which Ovation never shows. If your local library does not have streaming lending or does not use Hoopla, check if other libraries in your area or state give library cards to people outside their immediate service area. My local library (Brooklyn Public Library) and the other nearby one from which I have a card (New York Public Library) don’t, but I found that the Queens Public Library does and you only have to be a NYS resident to get a card (or pay $50 a year if you are out of state). The same is probably true in other states.
And you might just be able to sign up online.
Here in Massachusetts, Boston Public Library allows you to sign up for an “eCard” which you can you use for free online services like Hoopla, Libby, and Overdrive but not for physical checkouts.
Brian, I checked this out and you have to live or work in Massachusetts in order to get an eCard. If you’re out of state like I am, you’re out of luck.
I did get to read up on everything that makes BPL special, so thank you for that.
Good news! I was hoping this would happen. I really enjoy these slow-burn mysteries.
Great news! My Life is Murder is one of my favorite shows. Love the cast and the location! I hope there are many more seasons.
About time! This was the last renewal I have been waiting for! We love Lucy!
I’m glad. I like it. I know it is very light, but sometime, dang it, that’s what I’m in the mood for. Lawless if Flawless.
Acorn could – and should! – announce renewals. You know, before announcing it when everyone is on set and literally filming a new season.
I mean, Agatha Raisin? Cannes Confidential? Chelsea Detective? Queens of Mystery? Whitstable Pearl?
I don’t think acorn is the one who creates the shows? i think they just air it outside of australia/new zealand?
Per Variety article from 2/24/2024: ” “My Life Is Murder” is a Greenstone Pictures MLIM production for TVNZ, Acorn TV & DCD Rights, made with the assistance of the New Zealand Government’s Screen Production Rebate (NZSPR). “
Acorn has the first stream rights in Australia – it always airs on Acorn first then is later shown on a local free to air network (TEN), can’t speak for NZ though.
ACORN is truly bad at promoting and announcing their shows. You basically have to wait until Mondays and even if you look at what’s coming, it usually shows things that are already airing. Very frustrating!
Love the show. Glad to hear it was renewed.
Only 8? Hope that doesn’t mean there’s nope hope for a S5… 🙁
Gotta take what you get and be happy! Yaaaayy for S4 renewal!! Be worth the wait!! Love be this show!!
