Pat Sajak will take one last spin as Wheel of Fortune host on Friday, June 7, TVLine has confirmed.
The forthcoming farewell episode — which tapes today — will double as Wheel‘s Season 41 finale. As previously reported, showbiz staple Ryan Seacrest will take over as host when Wheel comes back for Season 42 in September, with Vanna White returning as the game show’s iconic letter turner (after a highly publicized renegotiation of her contract).
Sajak’s final appearance will come almost exactly one year after he announced his plans in June 2023 to leave the show, capping a four-decade-plus run as Wheel of Fortune‘s master of ceremonies.
“Well, the time has come,” Sajak said in a statement at the time. “I’ve decided that our 41st season, which begins in September, will be my last. It’s been a wonderful ride, and I’ll have more to say in the coming months. Many thanks to you all.”
Sajak has hosted the syndicated game show since its nighttime debut in 1983. He also hosted the daytime edition from 1981 to 1989. During Sajak’s tenure, he has won the Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Game Show Host three times, earning more than a dozen additional nominations over the years.
“I’m truly humbled to be stepping into the footsteps of the legendary Pat Sajak,” Seacrest said in his own statement after officially being named Sajak’s successor two weeks later. “I can say, along with the rest of America, that it’s been a privilege and pure joy to watch Pat and Vanna on our television screens for an unprecedented 40 years, making us smile every night and feel right at home with them. Pat, I love the way you’ve always celebrated the contestants and made viewers at home feel at ease. I look forward to learning everything I can from you during this transition.”
I’ll surely miss Pat Sajak, but he deserves
his retirement. He’s like an old friend to me.
I probably just missed it, but is there any word on Celebrity Wheel of Fortune coming back and who would host, or is that done?
I’d expect news on a potential renewal next month, when the networks do their fall presentations. I’d bet good money it returns, as it’s been reliable in the ratings, and it pairs well with Celebrity J!, which is almost definitely coming back. As for the host, I’m curious, as well. CWOF tapes in the middle of summer, before syndication, and the contracts with ABC are separate from the ones with Sony. Seeing as Pat is staying on as a creative consultant for a few more years, I think there’s at least some possibility that he does one more season of primetime.
Well if Pat stays on as a creative consult, I guess we are still getting nepo baby, Maggie Sajak? Sigh.
WOW doodlemom, maybe just don’t watch it. Maggie is great!!
I wish he’d take Maggie AND Vanna with him.
I think in Pat’s final show, the wheel should speed up and spin off its axis and explode in a fiery finale.
It would be even better if it also ran over Ryan Seacrest! Seacrest out!
I SO agree with you !!! Not looking forward to mr. Lack of personality, dull Ryan. Why is he being foisted upon us ? I don’t know if I’ll be able to watch with him there. He’s annoying.
Gonna miss Pat Sajak but happy for him as he goes wherever his next journey takes him. Best wishes always. Looking forward to see how Brian S. will do.
No one can fill Pat’s shoes. Brian will have to learn and fo things by his own personality. Wishing both men a good journey.
The name of Pat’s successor is actually Ryan Seacrest.
The ubiquitous Ryan Seacrest…I wish they were bringing in someone new.
They tried that before and it didn’t work.
Ryan is a kiss ass and I can’t stand looking at his face
It will never be the same. there is no one who can replace the witt and camaraderie he has with the contestants. He always made them feel comfortable and that they were the stars of the show
Finally!! It is so cringeworthy to watch Pat sometimes.
We will certainly miss you on the show!!!!
We are SO SAD. The show will not be the same. We as a family will continue to watch Wheel Of Fortune, but without Pat’s humor, looks and jokes, it just will not be the same. Thank You Pat for the memories we will have forever along with the laughs. Thank You so much.
I will miss Pat. I don’t care for Ryan so I will no longer watch it when he takes over.
Since when does Wheel of Fortune have over 3 full months of summer repeats? I thought we would be seeing Pat in new episodes all of June and well into July. Bad enough we are stuck with Ryan Seacrest as a replacement, it should have gone to Pat’s daughter Maggie.
Wheel regularly has the season finale in the beginning of June. The last 5 years the season finale aired.

Aside from 2020 that essentially had a midseason hiatus due the pandemic this falls in line with the usual schedule.
Jeopardy is the show that runs new episodes through July.
Happy Retirement Pat. That will be the last show I watch and then nevermore. Don’t like secrest
Pat made that show a success. We need more shows this and certainly more hosts like him.
The Wheel will do just fine with Ryan Seacrest as host. Many thought The Price is Right was doomed when Bob Barker retired. The same was thought about Jeopardy! at Alex Trebek’s passing. People said they’d never watch the show again. It turns out both shows are doing quite well, and Drew Carey and Ken Jennings are excellent hosts. Ryan Seacrest has much experience as a television host, I’m sure he will do just fine too.
Precisely. Ryan has his own fan base due to Idol etc. and they will tune in. I stopped watching LIVE with Kelly when Ryan left. Wheel had hosts before Pat (Chuck W.) and will be just fine with Ryan. The 18-40 demo doesn’t watch seniors like Pat and Vanna.
You will be greatly missed, Pat!! But after the many years you’ve put into The Wheel of Fortune, I fully understand that it’s time for you to relax!! Enjoy your retirement Pat!!! Take good care!!!
Pat. Sajak. The. Doctors. And. Scientists. Must. Find. To. Reverse. The. Aging. Process. Let’s. Say. A. Man. Is. 73. They. Can Reverse The. Aging. Process. A. 73. Years. Old. Find. Make. A. Man. Of. 73. Make. Him. Like. He. Is. 23. Years. Old. Find. A. Cute. For. Lung. Cancer. Would. Be. Great.
I don’t like pat sucserr Ryan request was a terrible replacement he was not long with Kelly tipsy and Ryan is not experienced enough to do anything long term!
Ryan left Kelly because of the constant LA to NYC commute. He wouldn’t’ be this busy of he wasn’t so popular.
My favorite show! I would rush home, fixed something to eat, it would relax me after a stressful day at work, and never missed a show!
I won’t be watching it, I’ll miss Pat and Vanna, NOT a fan of Ryan, He has no charisma and is boring.
I’d like to buy a vowel…………
Will miss Pat Sajak, so much I truly enjoy the way he kids with Vanna and the contestants . Will not be the same I look forward every evening at 7pm to Wheel, not sure will even watch when he retires .
I like Ryan Seacrest just fine he just does not seem to have the fun joking way about him as Pat does.
Also we are in the senior group and when someone that we enjoy watching it is sad. With that said wishing Pat all the best in this new chapter, you will be missed by us and many many more! Enjoy your RETIREMENT !!
Really enjoy. Family watches together and our children and grandchildren have learned their alphabet from watching the Wheel!¿ It’s a daily part of our lives
Seacrest may be OK, but there will never be another host as great as Pat!!!!!!!!! Watching Wheel is a highlight of our day because of Pat and Vanna!
I don’t think Ryan Seacrest is the right choice
Best of luck pat you’re the greatest
Wheel of fortune will never be the same without Pat Sajak . Pat Sajak & Vanna White are the stars of the show. The show will never be as awesome to watch without Pat Sajak. Most likely I won’t be watching the show anymore but I’ll try because at least we still will see Vanna White turn the boxes to expose the letters . It’s just like Bob Barker , from the price is right. The show was never the same without Mr. Barker May he RIP. Mr. Barker was an amazing loving tv host and the best ever and I feel the same about Mr. Sajak . I will forever love Bob Barker & Pat Sajak .
God bless you Mr Pat Sajak on your retirement.
But, I personally don’t think that Ryan Seacrest is a good fit for WOF.
Hee hee :)
Pat,
I’ve enjoyed watching you all these years. All the traveling you and Vanna have done. All the memories you must have and the tie widths you’ve gone through. You have made the contestants feel comfortable and us at home and laugh. Especially the woman with lumpy husband.
Thank you again Pat you will be missed but you deserve a long vacation.
Best of luck,
