Another big extraterrestrial battle is brewing: NBCUniversal has renewed Resident Alien for Season 4, TVLine has learned. However, the series will be changing networks, moving from Syfy to USA Network.
The episode count for the new season remains TBA.
Based on the Dark Horse comics series of the same name, Resident Alien follows a crash-landed alien (Alan Tudyk) whose original mission was to kill every living being on the planet. But after spending time on Earth and making friends in the town of Patience, Colo., he changed course and set about on a new plan: To save humanity from other races of aliens who want to claim the world as their own.
In the Season 3 finale (which aired Wednesday, April 3), Harry, with help from unlikely ally Joseph, thwarted the Greys’ Earth-destroying Yellowstone plan. D’arcy (little “a”!), meanwhile, helped save Kate and Ben’s baby, Sheriff Mike finally came face-to-face with an alien and Liv was reunited with the alien tracker.
In addition to Tudyk, Resident Alien stars Sara Tomko, Alice Wetterlund, Corey Reynolds, Levi Fiehler, Elizabeth Bowen, Meredith Garrettson and Judah Prehn. The series also boasts an impressive list of guest stars including Edi Patterson (The Righteous Gemstones), Terry O’Quinn (Lost), Enver Gjokaj (Invasion), Gary Farmer and Sarah Podemski (Reservation Dogs), and Linda Hamilton.
Resident Alien was adapted to television by executive producer Chris Sheridan, who has served as showrunner since its launch and remains at the helm for the upcoming fourth season. Mike Richardson and Keith Goldberg of Dark Horse Entertainment, Justin Falvey and Darryl Frank of Amblin TV and Nastaran Dibai also executive-produce.
Will you be joining Harry and co. for their fourth run? Light up the comments and let us know.
I read about this last month. Was wondering when TVLine would report on it. Glad for the fans the show is coming back.
.
Wonder if SyFy is going to leave the scripted series business behind?
I don’t know what you read but it wasn’t renewed until today.
I am beyond happy I am so glad it is coming back
He may have been referring to articles discussing the potential move. There was an article on the sister site Deadline that came out a month ago which suggested a renewal might come with the move of Resident Alien from Syfy to the NBCU cable sibling USA network. The article also mentioned budget cuts would be happening.
Whatever the case, I don’t care where it lands, as long as we can watch it and we keep that amazing cast. Love this show!
How could you skip over the most important part of the season finale in the recap. Harry being replaced.
They would have to remame the network then probably
That summary of the series sounds nothing like the charming comic book that apparently only shares a name.
Hard pass.
Have you ever watched any episodes of the past 3 seasons? The series was excellent!!
I’m sure the series is good. It got renewed for a fourth season, which means it’s making money which means it has fans.
It’s just not “Resident Alien”. It’s something else with that name.
Yes, and it’s called “Resident Alien”.
I saw the trailer for the show and then picked up the comics. I prefer the comics. There’s less screwball comedy and Harry seems sane.
If you’re attached to the comics, it’s a hard watch. It’s nothing like the comics and only shares a few fleeting things. If you haven’t read the comics or can mentally separate it from them, it’s pretty good. It took me until season 2 to accept it for what it is, but I’d recommend it if you can.
I haven’t read the Resident Alien comics, but I’d say it might compare to Dexter. The novels were, to me, much better than the series, and very different. But I still enjoyed the series – well, for most of the run.
I’m so happy it got renewed. I love this show and laugh so much at the antics.
So glad to hear it has been renewed!
Unfortunately though, as a big Canadian fan who can’t get the USA Network I am disappointed.
Hopefully it will air on another accessible channel at some point.
I was wondering the same thing, Hopefully Showcase or W network will pick it up.
I watched 1 season and was done. Same ole thing over and over.
It comes on CTV Sci-Fi here, so there’s still a possibility we can get it.
Me too. Hope we can find it
You know we don’t get the US Syfy channel in Canada, don’t you? Never have.
The unrelated CTV Sci-Fi channel can continue licensing the show if they want to – it has nothing to do with what American channel shows it.
YES I’ll be watching the 4th season! Loving the show.
Hey if you like this enough getting a VPN could allow you to get the new station. So I hear. Haven’t done this myself.
Possible chucky renewal happening today too?
Yes, it was hilarious!
thats NO bullS**t! GREAT!
Love this show and glad to see it’s continuing. I don’t have cable but it came on weekly on Peacock (the day after it aired on SyFy) so hopefully that continues.
Peacock doesn’t stream USA. I’m disappointed that I won’t be able to watch it ad free and will have to DVR it.
We love the show! It’s the main reason I subscribe to peacock! Hurry back and rescue Harry and baby
yay!
Hmmm, glad for the renewal but I don’t have access to USA Network, so bummer.
Relocating the show to USA Network might widen it audience & give more access to the causal viewer.
Oh man, can NBC Universal do something like this for Quantum Leap, move it to USA network?
I have watched every show. Not a fan of the kids in the show but I will not miss any shows
Can’t wait my favorite series of all time Harry is the best…
So happy to learn this renewal is verified. I wonder about this trend of networks to trade/sell/series?
From the home of cheap sometimes science fiction television to the home of cheaper television. Will we notice the difference?
Yes! I love it, but I hate so few episodes per season
I am thrilled!!! Can’t wait to see Season 4. Resident Alien is the 1st show I’ve gotten hooked on in years – saw S1 E1 & never stopped. So very happy for all involved with the show & all of us loyal fans out here. Thank you, thank you, thank you…..❣️🐾👽
We have been watching since the beginning why would we stop now. The serieis stimulating and hilarious to say it gently.
I’m so excited! I was so worried. It’s such a great show. I hope we can still get it in Canada.
As a Voyager fan I feel the need to mention that Robert Duncan McNeill also EPs.
Great show. Glad when a new season starts. Sad when the season ends.
I didn’t see any mention of a schedule for this. Will this be in 2024 or are we looking at 2025?
I couldn’t imagine it would be any earlier than Spring 2025 at this point.
I absolutely will be joining the entire cast for season 4 and can’t wait for its debut. I have been binged the first three seasons four times since season 3 came out! It would definitely have to say I’m a very huge fan! Love love love this show! Now I have to go watch it again 😁
