Riches Cancelled at Prime Video, Creator Says ‘I Still Had Many More Stories to Tell’
Prime Video is fresh out of Riches.
The British drama will not return for Season 2 at the streaming video service, TVLine has confirmed. Creator Abby Ajayi announced that the show wouldn’t be coming back in a social media post Friday.
“This time last year we launched,” Ajayi wrote in an Instagram post. “Much love to this incredible ensemble of actors and our fabulous screw. Thank you to everyone who supported.”
She added: “So proud we got to make this show. I still had many more stories to tell… And, it was gonna be 🔥 🔥 🔥.”
Riches‘ six-episode first (and now only) season premiered on Prime Video in December 2022. The drama followed the ultra wealthy Richards family in the wake of its patriarch’s sudden death and his various children’s fight for control of his business. The cast included stars Deborah Ayorinde (Truth Be Told), Hugh Quarshie (Absentia), Sarah Niles (Ted Lasso, I May Destroy You), Adeyinka Akinrinade (A Discovery of Witches), Ola Orebiyi (Cherry), Nneka Okoye (Halo), and Emmanuel Imani (The Wheel of Time).

Riches was one of the best shows on prime. Makes no sense to take off a good show, when there are others with bad reviews . Bring back Riches!!!!!!

Damn… I’m incredibly disappointed that Riches isn’t getting renewed. S1 was such a fun watch and the finale left so much to be desired for S2. *sigh*

Because it’s about numbers, as much as a show might be great and watched by a loyal but small group of fans, the numbers just didn’t support additional seasons. It’s always sad but it’s based on how many viewers, not really the quality in this business. Talk to your fellow viewers if you want someone to blame, more people simply have to watch these shows in order to support future seasons.
I did not know this show existed until my step mom put it on and I loved it. You all need commercials so it can get more viewers. Is it possible that there may be a chance for second season if it gets the views it needs later on??
I never saw ads for the show I happen to be strolling through looking for some good to watch and saw the title.

The TV show Rich’s was real good I really liked it I don’t know why they canceled it but they need to bring it back out I wonder who can you talk to or email or anything to bring it back on

I really enjoyed the program. It portray black people fighting for what is theirs without looking like thugs. It showed how black people can deal with wealth that has a global impact and the willingness to fight for what is theirs without have to refer weapons. What was the biggest thing was the fact the It showcased intelligence diverse black people. Bring it back
Maybe that’s why the show is canceled. It shows black people in a positive light. It doesn’t show back people in the hood, gang banging, living in poverty. It shows intelligent black people with degrees creating a legacy for their children. It shows black people leaving generational wealth to their children in the form of a successful business. I’m not surprised that this show is canceled at all💅🏾
Wow!!! Love the show was look forward to season 2. What can be done so the show can come back? It was positive image for people to see that one can handle an inheritance.

I enjoyed watching Riches and couldn’t wait for Season 2. That was a very good show. Why do they ALWAYS take the good shows off leaving you hanging. But keep the ones with low ratings bring them back on.
