SEAL Team‘s easy days are now numbered.
TVLine has learned that the acclaimed military drama will end with Season 7, which begins production in early December and will premiere sometime in 2024.
UPDATE: TVLine also hears that the standalone SEAL Team movie that was put into development back in February 2022, and aimed to “expand the storytelling universe,” has quietly been shelved.
“It has been a privilege to tell stories over seven seasons that honor the bravery and heroism of all who serve our country,” executive producers Spencer Hudnut and Christopher Chulack said in a joint statement. “We are deeply grateful to our amazing group of actors, writers, directors and talented crew, especially the hundreds of veterans who have worked on this show.
“While we wish we could continue to shine a spotlight on areas where we can do better for our service members even after Season 7 comes to an end,” the EPs added, “it is our hope that the collective SEAL Team community will stay in the fight when it comes to protecting our protectors.”
Series front man and exec producer David Boreanaz said, “For six seasons I have been fortunate and blessed to be a part of an outstanding cast and crew. Every day spent was a note of thanks to our men and women in the military and Special OPS. I thank our fans, and I’m proud we were able to make this show to shine light in the darkness toward so many suffering today. I look forward to Season 7 and the opportunity to end this series with love and gratitude.”
SEAL Team last season wrote off the character of Clay Spenser, as original cast member Max Thieriot left to headline the hit CBS drama Fire Country (which he co-created). Raffi Barsoumian in turn joined the cast/team as Foxtrot transfer Omar Hamza.
Season 6 closed out with Boreanaz’s Jason Hayes disclosing — at his Navy Cross ceremony, no less — his TBI and compromised state on recent missions, after which he was called on the carpet by superiors. “You created one hell of a mess, and left us no choice but to stand you down,” Blackburn announced.
Ray interrupted that intense proceeding to reveal that he has been suffering PTS since his kidnapping, after which everybody else filed into the room — Sonny, Brock, Trent, Omar, and two dozen other operators, each recounting what impairs them. Near-constant headaches. Tinnitus. Breacher syndrome. The inability to sleep. Blurry vision. Memory lapses. You name it.
“Thanks, brother,” Jason said to Ray beside him. Ray scoffed, “What’s command gonna do, pull all our birds? Like you taught me, boss dog: Always improve your fighting position.”
David Stapf, President of CBS Studios, said in a statement, “When we first heard the pitch for SEAL Team almost seven years ago, I was struck by the producers’ genuine passion to tell authentic stories that honored and celebrated the sacrifice of veterans and all those who serve our country. Since that first meeting, they have not wavered in that mission. The characters, storylines and cast performances have continued to be both nuanced and powerful. Thank you to David, Spencer, Chris, Mark and the entire cast and crew for their partnership, creative vision, and dedication. We are looking forward to an exciting and satisfying seventh and final season.”
SEAL Team premiered on CBS in September 2017, with a cast that included Boreanaz, Thieriot, Neil Brown Jr., A.J. Buckley, Toni Trucks, Jessica Paré and Judd Lormand. Upon being renewed for Season 5, the series was shuttled over to CBS’ streaming sister, Paramount+, and in October 2022 it served up Episode 100.
To celebrate the series’ seven-season run, Paramount+ will take SEAL Team on the road to honor and support the armed forces and partner with programs that benefit the nation’s veterans.

Next up, a Bones reunion, return, revamp, reboot or something.
They can make the “More Bones” show from Lucifer.
Boreanaz has said a few times that he’s ‘not a reunion guy,’ but he’s still done reunion photo shoots. Guess we’ll see! Well.. other people will, I won’t be watching any new Bones material if they make it.
I’ll take what I can get, it’s been a great ride.
The strike was always gonna have casualties
If you watch the show, it was pretty clear it only had one season left in it. Tier 1 operators aren’t in their mid-50s.
Since when has that ever made a difference IF the show makes money? I’m so annoyed that I renewed Paramount+ for another year. I should have been closer attention.🙄
** paying closer
I thought the show was going to end last year. Really not surprised this is the final season. Doubt the strike had anything to do with it. Like with Young Sheldon, I think they knew the end was near.
Why not take all of the good shows off! Seal Team, S.W.A.T., what’s next???
This makes it even worse that they killed Clay last season. They could have easily have him guest star in the last season and give him a happy ending
I have thoroughly enjoyed this show that I admit I only started watching because of David Boreanaz. The end of last season certainly could have been the end, but I am really happy Paramount is giving them one more to see the aftermath of Clay’s death and the team disclosing how serving their country has taken its toll both physically and mentally.
Love SEAL Team for so many reasons! Quality is apparent in every show and season. Hate to see it end but understand…
David has been active every year for about my entire life. I wonder if he will have another project lined up right after this. He went from Angel – Bones – SEAL Team basically without a break in action.
I know! I don’t think he gets the credit he deserves for being the lead on THREE different TV shows covering 25 years!! Plus the couple of years he was on Buffy prior to the Angel spinoff.
Seriously, though. Almost nonstop on a tv series since 1997. And I’ll bet you it won’t be long until he jumps to the next series.
Saddened that this will be final seAson but at least we get to see our Seal Team.
CBS/Paramount said they are cleaning house and I love it. Stop dragging stuff out, give notice so a proper finale can be crafted, and let’s give some new shows a shot.
And you know what? I’d be fine with shows ending if they are given the opportunity to end properly. You nailed it on the head. It irks me when something ends on a cliffhanger. It makes it clear that they network doesn’t care about the fans.
I was afraid this might happen. But hopefully they will end on a strong note. Really wouldn’t have been the same without Clay anyway.
I think it’s good they know it early enough that this is going to be the last season. So they can write the proper ending this show deserves and hopefully satisfy everyone.
Another Paramount+ casuality.
Wouldn’t it be funny if the re-airing of the Paramount+ episodes on CBS pulls great ratings and they want to continue?
Great ratings are not being pulled.
I’d like to opt out of this news thanks. 😫
This is my current go-to/favorite show and while I’m glad they’re going out still at the top of their game (haters be gone), I’m bummed and selfishly want more.
I am gutted to learn that SEAL Team will end after season 7. It is a great show with incredible story lines, writing and acting. We will miss this show tremendously.
Loved this show, but the writing has been on the wall for a couple of seasons, and some of it was budget. Hopefully they can give it a good positive wrap, after tragically losing some of the characters to death, maybe it’s time for the remaining to find a positive off ramp…
With the strike now over, the studios are cutting their loss leaders. I’d also end some shows while they’re still on top – NCIS, Chicago Fire, SVU, Blue Bloods. Those have to be money drains as well. Let’s get some new stuff out there.
I am old school but loved the show so much I subscribed to Paramount to continue watching Seal Team. Looking forward to the last season.
At least they will give it a proper ending, unlike so many other cancelled shows these days that end on cliffhangers.
I loved watching the show, the cast has been great. I like the fact that they’ve got guys like Tyler Grey who have actually been there and done that in the cast. I haven’t been able to see the show since it switched over to Paramount+ which annoyed me when they switched over. I really did enjoy watching the show and hopefully it gets released to other streaming services so that I can finally watch the rest of the other seasons that I’ve missed. I would really love it if they made a movie.
Hate to see it end. Love this program. Do we know the reason why it’s been cancelled.
My great pleasure to have watched every Seal Team televised, the Actors, the brilliant and informative dialogue and storytelling. Seal Team has been my favorite TV series ever! I will miss it so very much and wish it would never end!!
Thank you Seal Team for amazing ride!!
love this series. can’t watch season 7 because now it’s on a pay station, but i sure can read about it. Thank you so much for this series!!
love it. wish it wasn’t on a pay staion.
