Shantel VanSanten is on the move: The actress who plays FBI‘s Special Agent Nina Chase is joining spinoff FBI: Most Wanted for its fifth season as a series regular, our sister site Deadline reports.
VanSantenboarded FBI in Season 4 when Chase temporarily filled in for Maggie after she was exposed to sarin gas in the line of duty. She also served as an undercover agent and continued to recur throughout Season 5 of the mothership series.
The actress’ big switch follows Alexa Davalos’ Most Wanted exit, which was announced in August. Davalos, who joined the cast at the start of Season 3 as agent Kristin Gaines, was “informed by a producer on set that she won’t be coming back” after filming her last scene of Season 4. Despite the abrupt departure, her exit was described as “amicable.”
FBI: Most Wanted has seen significant cast turnover since its launch. During Season 3, three cast members — Julian McMahon, Kellan Lutz and Miguel Gomez — all left the show for varying reasons. Dylan McDermott stepped in to play new team leader Special Agent Remy Scott, filling the void left by McMahon. Edwin Hodge, meanwhile, joined the cast in Season 4, replacing Gomez.
FBI and its two spinoffs FBI: International and FBI: Most Wanted all return Tuesday, Feb. 13 on CBS.

I’ll pas
This is great. She did a great job on the mothership and now should get lots of air-time. I like the idea of moving someone over, rather than hiring a totally new actor/character.
I’ve met her, and she is just the coolest, nicest person. Never seen this show though haha
Yeah she was great on The Flash and The Boys. I haven’t seen For All Mankind yet but I assume she was also good there.
She was good but after the first season they gave her bad storylines.
I’ll watch anything she’s a badass FBI agent on.Big fan here.Wonder if Scola and the whole baby story will be worked in.
I’m sure they’ll continue that and it will give more crossover opportunities. These shows don’t crossover as much as they could but maybe now they will
I thought for sure I recall he had to choose who the doctor was to save when she was shot. 🤔
The doctor did ask him if they could only save one, should it be her or the baby. He chose to save Nina, but luckily they both survived.
Nina Chase is going to be a great addition to Remy Scott and the Fugitive Task Force on FBI: Most Wanted.
I really like this snow bunny, she is very popular here in Indonesia 🥰
I miss her as Karen on For All Mankind.
Love the actress, but can’t stand the character for reasons I’ve never been able to pinpoint. I’ll keep watching, though.
Kristin Gaines >>>>>>>>> Nina Chase
Period.
Excellent!! I enjoyed watching her and I’m glad she’s got another job in the franchise.
Damn it. I was prepared to write off Most Wanted for good. It was my favorite FBI show but it started to lose its spark when they started making Remy too cartoonish. I didn’t like Kristen at first but she grew on me it was nice to have another calm level head over so many hotheads and I liked the arc she had with Hana toward the end helping her deal with her kidnapping. Guess I’m watching season 5 I like Nia enough and willing to see how she meshes with Remy’s crew plus at least Sheryll has another teammate who is a fellow parent.
Just to confirm?……as a series regular yeah?.
Great news though. As much as I’m going to miss Davalos, I’m glad they found a way to keep VanSanten around without getting rid of Maggie off the mothership.
I look forward to seeing more of her character.
I think that’s a great hire. I liked her very much on “FBI” and had hoped somehow she could have become a regular but I knew that was not likely. I think she will do swell in “FBI: Most Wanted.” Also I think what the show most wants (yes I did go there) is a strong character to tame Remy Scott. His character just seems to boss people around a little too much.
Yay I like her!
Nooo…. I liked her more than Maggie and Tiffany. Can one of them go and leave her on FBI?
I liked Krista Davalos. She had a quiet calmness I liked watching. Shantel is fine and should be interesting. What’s going on with the baby? Will there be more crossovers with the baby daddy?
I think that was the idea. Originally Nina went to white collar after Maggie recovered then planned to move to the FBI in LA but after the crossover and getting shot she may have decided to stay in New York to be closer to him and transferred Remy’s team. I too will miss Gains I didn’t like her at first but she was one of the only people in the fugitive team that wasn’t a hothead.
Welcome aboard! Loved you in FBI
I enjoy the FBI shoes , I do miss Jess. One thing is the background music is so loud you can’t hear the people talking
If they get rid if Dylan McDermott I’ll start watching again. But until then it’s a hard no. No matter who they add
A couple of observations. I watch all the varieties of FBI.
I find it hard to believe all the yelling that goes on in the Squad Room.
I think Dylan McDermott overplays his character. Too bossy, not nice.
I’m definitely going to miss Alexa Davalos. She’s one exotic agent.
So, hurry on 2024. We need us some more FBI.
