Paramount+ on Wednesday released the full trailer for Season 2 of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds — which among other things lets slip a first peek at the previously announced crossover episode that guest-stars Star Trek: Lower Decks‘ Tawny Newsome and Jack Quaid, as live-action versions of Beckett Mariner and Brad Boimler.
A photo of said crossover was also released, as was the poster (down below) for Strange New Worlds S2, which premieres Thursday, June 15.
In Season 2 of the well-received Star Trek: Discovery offshoot, the crew of the U.S.S. Enterprise, under the command of Captain Christopher Pike (Anson Mount), confronts increasingly dangerous stakes, explores uncharted territories and encounters new life and civilizations.
The crew will also embark on personal journeys that will continue to test their resolve and redefine their destinies.
Strange New Worlds also stars Rebecca Romijn as Una Chin-Riley, Ethan Peck as Spock, Jess Bush as Christine Chapel, Christina Chong as La’An Noonien-Singh, Celia Rose Gooding as Nyota Uhura, Melissa Navia as Erica Ortegas and Babs Olusanmokun as Joseph M’Benga.
Additionally, Paul Wesley (The Vampire Diaries) will return as James T. Kirk, and new addition Carol Kane (Taxi) recurs as Chief Engineer Pelia.
As for the Lower Decks crossover, in addition to featuring live-action versions of Newsome’s Beckett Mariner and Quaid’s Brad Boimler, the episode — directed by TNG alum/Picard co-star Jonathan Frakes — will also feature animation.

I can’t wait. This is either going to be epic or it will be a mess. Since Frakes is in charge, I’ll assume “epic”,
That looks awesome (maybe even epic)
Yay! I loved season 1
Please keep this a summer series. I don’t like when (Stargirl, Fantasy Island) great summer series shift from being fun, escapist summer shows. It’s perfect for summer. Looking forward to S2. I liked S1 more than I expected to.
Just hope the crossover episode is not a Holodeck episode.
Nah, I think Mariner and Boimler will accidentally time travel after finding some artifact or whatever.
My current theory is some kind of two-way wormhole/rift connecting the two show timelines, which might allow some of the SNW crew to briefly cross over onto the Cerritos.

Fingers crossed for a cartoon Pike with comically tall hair.
Boimler is holding something maybe that is how they time travel?
Regarding the poster, it’s odd that Nurse Chapel is the only one in black & white, yes? I wonder if that’s a spoiler for one of the episodes.
Good eye, but I think it’s just the color scheme they went with. Looks like the planet right next to her panel is in b&w, too. But we will see.
Yeah, I guess the others are all subtly colored by their respective purple/red/green panels too – hers is just especially pronounced. Maybe it’s significant, maybe it’s nothing. Definitely a deliberate design choice, though.
I still think it’s odd seeing Nurse Chapel and Number One played by two different actresses.
They missed an opportunity to do the most hilarious thing ever. They should have had Nurse Chapel and Number One played by the same actress, in different wigs, and just come up with more and more ridiculous reasons why those two never cross paths.
I’m looking forward to this. This ensemble cast is great. Love the characters. Get the popcorn ready. This looks like it’s going to be a lot of fun.
Really looking forward to season two.
Mixed feeling on lower decks crossover, as that show is just to slapstick for me, slapstick is just something I hate with a passion.
Still as this is a SNW crossover and in characters are in this show, not a lower deck crossover where Pike and crew are in a lower decks show, it may be OK. Guess time will tell.
Kirk being in this season is not a plus for me, as think he should be kept until the final season which I hope this is not. The issue for me is that it now might become the Kirk show and not the Pike show which Strange New worlds is. May not be called that, but that is how I see it. Again time will tell I guess.
Overall though more looking forward to this than I was/am to any other Trek show.
