The Conners will get to take a victory lap — perhaps they’ll even win the lottery? — now that ABC has renewed the Roseanne spinoff for a seventh and final season.
As previously reported, the show’s swan song is expected to consist of roughly six episodes (per Deadline). That would bring the series to a total of 112 episodes.
Season-to-date, The Conners is averaging 3.8 million total viewers and a 0.4 demo rating (with Live+7 playback), down 24% and 43% from its Season 5 numbers. Out of the three sitcoms that ABC has aired this TV season, it leads the pack in total viewers and distantly trails Abbott Elementary in the demo.
The Roseanne spinoff — which is now streaming on Netflix — recently celebrated its 100th episode and will makes its debut in local syndication this fall. Perhaps even more remarkable: Including Roseanne Season 10, the revival will have produced eight seasons total — just one season shy of Roseanne’s original nine-season run.
Producers had planned for the possibility of cancellation and filmed an alternative tag scene for The Conners’ Season 6 finale that would have brought the sitcom to a proper (if premature) close.
It was last spring when the producers behind The Conners first floated the idea that the series might end with its current Season 6. “We feel that [next season] is possibly going to be the last season of The Conners,” EP Bruce Helford told TVLine at the time. “I would not [say that] definitively because the numbers were so good this season, and we’ve all had a really great time… but it’s definitely a possibility.”
One month later, leading man John Goodman added fuel to the fire when he suggested that The Conners was rounding the corner. “I think we may be coming to an end on it,” he said in June 2023, before adding, “It’s lasted longer than I thought we would.”
But in February, Helford and fellow EP Dave Caplan told TVLine that they had not been approached about bringing the veteran sitcom to a close.
“As far as going forward, it’s funny… When I made that comment [about the possibility of it being the final season], the response by ABC was, ‘We never agreed to that,'” Helford relayed.
Added Caplan: “When we feel like we’re not telling relatable, interesting, novel stories anymore, we’ll pull the plug.” For now, “the journeys that these characters are on are inspiring us to go places we haven’t. The show continues to feel fresh and interesting, so nobody is all that anxious for it to end.”
And now producers will be able to plan for a proper series finale that will bring Roseanne and The Conners’ combined 17-season run to an end.

Noooooo😳 We LOVE the Conners!!! Me and my whole family And our friends… We’d be happy if it went on for a few more seasons!!!
I didn’t want to watch at first because Roseanne wasn’t included. Once I did, I binged all seasons. I want to see more!
It was never the same since Roseanne was taken off the show. I never watched the Connors because of it and I’m glad they’re ending the series. I believe the cast and the station did Roseanne a huge injustice and without her Who knows if any of them would have ever been known let alone had a series. Shame on them all.
“It wasn’t the same without her, but I never watched it”?
Snowflake much? They don’t owe her anything.
I don’t want it to end I love the Conners I would love for it to stay on
I hope the show ends on a happy note, after so many seasons of poverty in the Conner family. Dan can retire, Becky could graduate and get a great job, Darlene could be able to leave her lunch lady job, Harris could continue to run the Lunch Box, and Mark could get a great scholarship. They all deserve a happy ending.
Love to see more of Mark. He is a hottie!
It should not be getting a partial season 7
Based on the ratings ot should be getting a full season with more to come
The Conners reminds me of my childhood since I watched Roseanne, I don’t want it to come to an end. It’s my like comfort show, I’d love more seasons
I love The Connors. I watch them every week. I love the addition (Darlenes husband)! And Jackie never disappoints
Glad to hear The Connors will be able to have a proper exit. I’m not ready to say goodbye to them yet.
Great move for the show to stay on for one last ride, especially when they recovered well from the Roseanne controversy a few years ago. I see at least one new sitcom coming in, probably two now that Not Dead Yet won’t be renewed after two seasons.
I haven’t watched it since Roseanne left. She was the heart of the show. (Thanks to Sara Gilbert )
Thanks to her own unacceptable behavior, like any one else
THE WORDS TO DESCRIBE THIS SHOW’S LEVEL OF SUCK ARE NOT IN THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE. GOOD RIDDANCE.
GOOD RIDDANCE!!
Ending it is a horrible idea… it’s been a great show from the beginning and has only gotten better each season. I just need to stop watching and getting invested in ABC shows, they do this all the time and this time they’ve gone too far, for me anyway!
Nooooo! Please don’t end The Conners! I can’t live without Jackie!
I literally watch The Conners religiously. I can’t wait to see what they’re up too .. The show is so “Real” I forget it’s not !
Bring back Roseanne. If it wasn’t for Roseanne there wouldn’t be The Conners.
If they are coming back for the final season, why not go out with a regular length season blowout? 6 episodes is barely a story arc. It won’t put a button on all the loose ends. I feel all these shows that are cutting their final seasons by 2/3 are wasting our time doing it at all.
Sad to hear it’s ending. Terrible choice. It felt good to watch a show that handled real issues in a normal home and not some mansion home pretending to be “relatable”. Job well done and I felt the cast did a great job. The cast made The Conners 100% a new show with the same “old show” feeling. I wish they would change their minds and keep it going. I didn’t even realize it was still on. I just started watching it last month. I’m trying to get the word out because everyone I’ve talked to didn’t know it was even on. Maybe try advertising it more? Either way I am going to keep telling people to watch it. Great job everyone for the familiar feeling of reliving the innocent yet very informative. Much love and thank you! I needed those laughs and that reunion.
Wish they got a minimum of 13 episodes but happy with anything. If you count the last season of Roseanne, this cast has been doing killer work for 7 (soon to be 8 years). Happy and excited to see how this ends.

I love the Conners more than I liked rosea ne and am sad it will be ending
good show except for the liberal left leaning views. would have been funnier without the political crap.
Did you not watch the original show? Quite liberal. Or are you just a brainwashed idiot?
Pretending that the original show wasn’t politically liberal?
Pull the plug 🔌
Love that it started again, don’t really miss roseanne. Give it a few more episodes.
