This may explain why The Flash‘s Barry Allen didn’t receive the warmest of welcomes upon super-speeding to the year 2031.
When last we tuned in, a desperate Barry had time-traveled forward 10 years to get clues about how he will one day do Earth dirty. His first stop, though, was a doozy, crashing a swanky soiree attended by Supergirl‘s Alex Danvers, Batwoman‘s Ryan Wilder and more of the Arrowverse‘s finest — and where Eobard Thawne (played by former series regular Tom Cavanagh) was doting on Iris!
Spotting the uninvited guest, Iris, Cecile et al seemed none too pleased. And that may be because, among a bevy of photos released for Part 4 of the five-week “Armageddon” event, Barry’s speedster alter ego in the future is Reverse-Flash, while archenemy Thawne is rocking the red romper.
Also, spied in the photos below: both Alex and Ryan apparently pull off a very quick change (nanotech can replace stilettos with combat boots?) upon seeing Barry crash the party; Iris (of 2021?) bonds with Ryan Wilder; and Barry as Reverse-Flash gets some guidance (maybe?) from longtime Arrowverse nemesis Damien Darhk (Neal McDonough).

This event has been terrible. The plot is so convoluted and makes no sense. But worst of all…it’s just plain boring.
explain how its been convoluted and makes no sense
Being convoluted and making no sense, the plot is inexplicable by nature.
that doesnt answer the question
like give me some examples to understand what you’re saying
We can’t explain a convoluted plot that makes no sense. If we could explain it, it would make sense.
explain what dont make sense
If something doesn’t make sense then point it out, otherwise you’re just confused and are making things up.
Uh the plot was great so far…. Its a 5 part event and they already had multiple crosdovers made use of all Barry’s power… Hinting that not everything is like it seems with Joe’s death … I not sure what you call boring…
I don’t agree the plot is all that tricky but I do agree it’s boring. I would say it is as exciting as watching grass grow but I’m afraid of angering the Big Landscape moguls.
You have valid criticism, don’t be afraid to show it. This event should have been a five night thing in an ideal world, but that simply isn’t possible. The plot moving over five nights would have made it more palatable I think. But the general idea behind it all is great.
“Big Landscape moguls”? Well aren’t you a clever boy? Don’t worry, I hear your racist dog whistle. Loud and clear.
The reason it’s so unconvoluted is because it doesn’t resemble anything of the original storyarc from the comics. The only thing the storyarc has in common with the comic book event is its name. The original storyarc consisted of Waverider (Matthew Ryder) tryign to prevent the dystopian future of Monarch from coming true. Monarch (Hank Hall/Hawk) became a dictator in the future and he comes back in time to kill the superheroes in order to make sure his dystopian future comes true. It was never a Flash-centric storyarc. They managed to mess up this storyarc just like they did with Flashpoint. The original comic book event is called “Armageddon 2001” and it ran through the DC Comics annuals.
i have no idea who that man standing next to ryan choi is, he wasnt listed in credits for last episode either
I don’t think we are supposed to know who he is yet.
HEmigsht be either dr. fate or the green lantern that steps in for kyle raynor when he becomes Parallax since the multiverse hasn’t been rediscovered yet… OR he’s WAVERIDER…
initially i got excited for ZAN or JOHN FOX but i always believed FOX was WALLY’s [O.G.] Doppelganger alsp no Jana pictured
possibly
i dont understand why diggle wasnt part of this, what was the point of that worlds await storyline
I’ve been loving this! Curious about what timeline iris is in compared to everyone else with her time sickness
As has been pointed out elsewhere Caitlen and Killer Frost seem to have missed the party in the future.
What’s up with that?
For something that is meant to be a massive “event” this has been a serious disappointment up until this point, compared to past events. I guess i was expecting so much more but honestly you could jump into the next episode and pretty much catch up without having to watch whats come before it. It’s been quite boring and dragged out for the most part. They set it up well in episode one but 2 and 3 could have been one episode honestly. It could have been much tighter. Like only NOW we are going into the future? Maybe my expectations were too high.
what did you want to see happen?
again part of it is because the crossover events before all the shows were airing there seasons but this one is where only the flash and batwoman are airing, and compared to previous crossovers it has been disappointing, but then again anything after crisis, which they built up for 10 years would be a let down, as crisis had so much going on and they probably could’ve done 5 more episodes
that doesnt really explain what is wrong though with this one
They still are dealing with Covid restrictions folks, which compounds the normal crossover scheduling issues. Superman was in the original plans but the scheduling couldn’t be worked out. It’s incredible they got Batwoman for one-plus episodes. Even the guest stars from former shows are only appearing primarily in one episode. No grand scale stories until things are back to normal.
You know what’s annoying to me? The overall repeating plot point in the current season of Arrowverse shows…
– Legends of Tomorrow: lose their home base.
– Batwoman: lose their home base.
– The Flash: lose their home base.
The latter two even happened in the same week!
Reverse Flash again. (◔_◔) I like Tom Cavanaugh, too, but is there nothing else about the Flash mythology they can pull from?
