Jennifer Hudson and Sherri Shepherd will keep on talking, now that their eponymous freshman daytime programs — The Jennifer Hudson Show and Sherri — have each been renewed through the 2023-24 TV season.
Hosted by EGOT winner Hudson, The Jennifer Hudson Show debuted as the 2022-23 TV season’s No. 1 new first-run series (for the premiere week of Sept. 12) in both households and total viewers, and it is the No. 1 new first-run strip this season in average weekly reach (5.2 million total viewers).
“Working on this show alongside my incredible team and our amazing partners has been one of the greatest joys of my career,” Hudson said in a statement. “We have been on this journey together from Day 1 and I am so thrilled to take it to the next level. I could not be more grateful to audiences across America for letting me into their homes everyday as we empower and inspire one another. I can’t wait to show you what we have up our sleeves in Season 2!”
Sherri, meanwhile, is currently cleared in 98 percent of the U.S, and originates from New York’s Chelsea Studios in front of a live studio audience.
“I am so thrilled that Sherri has been renewed for two more years,” Shepherd said in a statement. “I launched this show with the mission to give daytime viewers a ‘good time,’ just like my theme song says. I am so appreciative that Fox [Television Stations] and Debmar-Mercury have partnered with me to continue bringing more laughter, joy and inspiration to my audience.”
Good for Jennifer Hudson after being treated so badly on “American Idol.”
She had to be wildcarded into the finals, and then placed seventh.
I haven’t stuck with JHud’s show — just wasn’t for me — but I really enjoy Sherri! She’s frequently hilarious, a really good storyteller, and just seems so genuine and humble about the show’s success. Plus she’s had consistently great guests — like Janet Jackson! — and interviews them well. (Today’s ep, with guest Steve Harvey meeting Sherri’s 98YO “superfan” Lorene, had me on the floor laughing.)
So happy she’s had a two-year renewal!
I love Jennifer Hudson more than cooked food but Jennifer’s talk show it terrible. Not everybody can DO everything. Jennifer can sing — better than MOST people but she is NOT a talk show host. She asks all the wrong questions, uses too much “street” for effect & just is NOT comedic. Jennifer’s clothes are fantastic but clothes do not create a host. Kelly Clarkson has the WORST clothes in talk show history but Clarkson’s talk show is 🔥 EXCELLENT.
I enjoy Jennifer’s singing and acting better than her talk show, but she is doing her thing. I loved Sherry filling in for Wendy. She really blended well with the cast and crew. Then she canned them all for her own people. Bring back Suzanne and Norman! The 3 of them were great together……and Yes Rosetta! Kelley Clarkson’s show is great, but she needs a new stylist. Frumpy and Lumpy can make a girl Grumpy.
Suzanne and Norman is stay there you just don’t see them they are behind the scene.
Peanut, Sherri did not can them all. Suzanne and Norman work for The Sherri Show.
Shepard is untalented. Worse than that she is a terrible person.
A person who says that Sherri is a terrible person actually reveals her, or his, own self as the one who is terrible.
JS — It is hard to hear you say such a terrible thing about Sherri who is always so filled with light and love and laughter. Besides, Sherri has always spoken so well of you so it is surprising that you hate her so much.
I love, love, love Sherri. She has me laughing, good crying and just brings my daily dose of joy. I am SO GLAD she got renewed. I can’t imagine my day without her joy and laughter. I think she is so humble and grateful and very talented and comedic. Keep up the good work Sherri and please stay true to yourself. Don’t get the big head with success.
