Big things are happening in The Orville‘s Season 3 finale — and we’re not just talking about Isaac seeking sexual conjugation with [Spoiler].[pmc_inline_gallery]
In the teaser video below, shared by series creator/on-screen captain Seth MacFarlane, yes, Isaac with zero game makes the aforementioned overture to a puzzled colleague. But more significant moments are glimpsed as the brief video plays out, including a significant holding of hands, and some sort of very important event where Ed & Co. are decked out in their (never-before-seen?) Union dress whites.

This Thursday… the season’s epic journey concludes with the season finale of The Orville: New Horizons. Come celebrate with us on @hulu! #TheOrville #TheOrvilleNewHorizons pic.twitter.com/lPbH5nTT29

And might the important event also mark the end of the series? Fans hoped for renewal news at Comic-Con, but instead only got the announcement that the series will now also be streamable on Disney+.
Ahead of the Season 3 opener, MacFarlane was not ruling out the chance for renewal, despite the fact that at least one original cast member had booked a pilot. (The word from Hulu sources at the time was that “the door is open” for more seasons.)
“[That] pretty much summed it up — we don’t know,” MacFarlane told TVLine in May. “If there’s an appetitive for it, if there’s an audience response, and if this is the season where the show really ‘pops,’ then I think we’re all open to doing more. But it’s really a question of, ‘Is there an audience?’ and that remains to be seen.”

I think at this point, I’d be okay with them cancelling it. Season 3 hasn’t been that great and definitely not worth the 3 year wait. I feel part of the problem is how long the episodes are.
Season 3 is far better than Seasons 1 & 2, and I loved seasons 1 & 2
Indeed
Pacing may have been a problem in episodes 1-3, but they figured it out since episode 4.
That is not a common opinion. Most viewers and critics think this season is light years better than the first two, and some of the best sci fi television in years.
It’s just human to have differing opinions but I for one have loved season 3, fantastic scifi. Was well worth the wait.
im sorry but this and strange new worlds have brought back great sci fi space tv.
this season has been brilliant, i was a fan of the first two but had reservations about some of the “jokes”
this season – wow, a different class
the visuals are HUGELY improved, the scripts have been excellent, the focus on others in the crew has been really good.
as for using dolly parton to set up a huge scene – that was a mic drop if ever i saw one!
overall this season was like tng s4, they get it and ran with it and im willing to bet a significant amount of money that someone at disney plus is already on bringing it back (hopefully sooner than later).
i am a grump when it comes to tv but BRAVO to all those involved.
(if you do come back – evil aliens in nazi uniforms, thats all im saying)
Spin off Finn, Isaac, Lamar, and Keyali. Do a movie showing the Orville was destroyed by the 3×02 aliens and the crew all survived by abandoning ship. Those 4 are part of a new crew on a mission to find and rescue Mercer and Grayson who are the only crew unaccounted for. You can do guest stars by others later, and have new adventures along the way.
I have a feeling that if The Orville is renewed, Scott Grimes’ boss on the pilot will be willing to work with the guy who runs Orville….Since they’re both Seth MacFarlane.
I’m hoping it does get renewed. The pacing this season has felt a little slow at times, but it’s been thoroughly enjoyable and has managed to explore unique perspectives on some highly charged subjects in a way that is thought-provoking without offending people on either side of the debate, which is a very difficult thing to accomplish.
I think this season has been great. Hopefully it gets renewed without so much time in between
It would be criminal if the Orville is not renewed for a 4th season. The 3rd season has been great, even though it was delayed because of the Pandemic. Now we could actually have a normal season and get to watch a fun SciFi dramedy that has improved every season.
Orville is one of the best new sci-fi series I have seen in years. In my opinion, If any sci-fi series make it to three seasons it is worth to watch. The story lines are very entertaining with the actors and actresses they has chosen. Also, the graphics and colors in the starship and shuttle craft fighting is fun to watch. I am looking forward to another season.
I have found this season of The Orville to be fantastic! The storylines are relevant and well written. I’ve enjoyed every episode and hope to see more!
I love this show and hope it comes back!
I realllllllly want Kelly and Ed to get back together, but I also feel like this promo is so misleading, so I won’t be getting my hopes up.
This show should definitely be renewed. Best show I’ve seen in years.
I love this season and I want MORE period
I love this season and I want MORE petiod
I do hope there will be more Orville. I’m not a big fan of Malloy, not Scott, but the character. I think they make him look way too silly and stupid. Otherwise, I love all the other characters. In my opinion, this is better than any of the Star Treks.
This is one of the most enjoyable shows on television. I’m not really that familiar with Seth’s other television shows (that whole Fox Sunday night animated slate misses me for some reason) but this is a fantastic homage to the original Star Trek. And it’s continuing the legacy of addressing major issues as the OST did. Also Seth is a great singer so I hope we get to see some outstanding standards performed at some point on the show.
Is there an audience? Is that even a question?!?!?! Shut up and renew for Season 4 already!!!
We must have a continuance. Season 4 is a must have for us fans of the show. My family and I watch the show from season 1 on and then repeat, because it’s a perfect mix of Star Trek and comedy. We are Star Trek, Star Wars and fans of Orville. When there’s so much to watch on TV we can’t help coming back to Orville. Everything MacFarlane does is awesome entertainment. Believe what you see, the viewers are there. Season 4.
I will be incredibly disappointed if they don’t renew. I love the Orville! It’s one of the best science fiction series to come out in ages, and one of the best shows on TV, as far as I’m concerned. With the cesspool of reality junk that TV has become, the Orville is a bright spot, and it would be such a shame for it to be cancelled after its best season with no satisfying closure.
I hope The Orville is renewed. It is the best science fiction since Firefly, and that is saying a lot. Season three has been consistently excellent and worthwhile.
Please let there be a season 4. I would love to see Alara back, she lent the show some degree of vulnerability and was a fine counterpoint to the other strong women on the show. Alara kept it real.
Best season so far. Sensitive and relevant topics were handled with intelligent conversations. Action was kicked up
I’ve only watched the 1st 3 episodes of season three, and I’ve been disappointed. I keep hoping it picks up. I mean, the 1st officer and the captain should never go on away missions together. That bothers me from a story POV. And the first episode was too preachy IMO. Good science fiction walks that fine line with social commentary. I keep hoping it will get better, but I’m not rushing back to watch it either.
LOL. I wish I had a dollar for every time a captain and the 1st officer went on a mission together!
I nearly spit out my water when I heard what Isaac said to Kelly at the start of that teaser.
I think season 3 is probably the best writing of the series to date, and once the series comes to disneyplus, it’ll reach a bigger audience.
keep orville great show
The Orville is much like Star Trek Next Generation, which didn’t really hit its stride until season three. Absolutely loved this season and hope it is renewed with no changes. Will miss it once the season ends. Renew!
The Orville walks the path of TOS. There is no reason not to renew such a great show.
I only joined Hulu for the Orville. Please continue it.
Me2. I will be canceling Hulu after the final episode .
I have so enjoyed this season! Please bring me more seasons!! Really great show!!
