Much to Oz Cobb’s chagrin, the recent death of crime boss Carmine Falcone will not clear the way for him to run Gotham City as he’d hoped.
Max on Thursday unveiled a new trailer for The Penguin, its series offshoot of Matt Reeves’ The Batman, in which Colin Farrell’s title character hopes to call the shots in Gotham after Carmine Falcone’s demise. But as seen in the video above, Oz immediately finds himself up against Carmine’s children — daughter Sofia (How I Met Your Mother‘s Cristin Milioti) and son Alberto (Marvelous Mrs. Maisel‘s Michael Zegen) — among several others who have no intention of letting Oz take control of Gotham’s criminal underbelly.
Thursday’s trailer also reveals that the series will debut this September (exact date TBA), after previously getting penciled in for sometime this fall.
Ordered to series over two years ago, the eight-episode Warner Bros. Television/DC Studios drama “continues the epic crime saga” that filmmaker Reeves began in 2022 with Warner Bros. Pictures’ The Batman. The previously announced cast also includes Rhenzy Feliz (Marvel’s Runaways), Michael Kelly (House of Cards), Shohreh Aghdashloo (The Expanse), Deirdre O’Connell (Outer Range), Clancy Brown (Billions), James Madio (The Offer), Theo Rossi (Sons of Anarchy), Scott Cohen (Gilmore Girls) and Carmen Ejogo (Your Honor).
The Penguin is executive-produced by Reeves, Farrell, Dylan Clark, Lauren LeFranc (who writes and serves as showrunner), Craig Zobel (who directed the first three episodes) and Bill Carraro.

Who asked for this?
It was me. I’m sorry. Things had just been legalized. I ate a gummy. I didn’t know how powerful it was.
I am, of course, filled with remorse and embarrassed.
Also: Doesn’t Farrell look like Bruce Campbell in that?
A lot of people. The Batman was a good movie and Farrell as The Penguin was one of the best things about it. And this incarnation of the character is definitely worthy of having an expanded story.
It’s fine to not have interest in it, but that overused question always blatantly ignores the fact that nobody has to ask for any specific show or movie to be made in order for plenty of people to potentially enjoy those things if they are made.
Presumably you have certain things that you like that you didn’t ask for.
I’m just not all that interested in Penguin. Of all the Batman villain’s he is one of the ones that I don’t really care about.
Is Batman going to appear in it at all? Just curious.
Not sure why this is downvoted. it’s a valid question. I was wondering the same thing.
