Maybe you’ve noticed. Since late February, TVLine has thrown a lot of information at you about which series will (and won’t) be be affected by the coronavirus pandemic. In fact, maybe you’ve not only noticed this but have found your head spinning a bit as a result.
We wouldn’t blame you in the slightest. What’s more, we’re here to help by doing what we all must in a time of crisis: organize our asses off. In our case, that’s meant compiling an exhaustively comprehensive and up-to-the-minute list of TV shows, and noting how, if at all, their production has been impacted. (And yes, washing our hands afterward!)
For some programs — quite a few of them, actually — the news is good. Modern Family, for instance, had already wrapped work on its 11th and final season before one production after another began shutting down. And having completed taping on Season 3, The Masked Singer had closed up its bonkers wardrobe closet until next time around.

For others programs, the news is… less good. Among the series grappling with interrupted seasons are Supernatural and Empire, both of which are currently airing their own farewell seasons. And while we’re not necessarily in favor of long, drawn-out goodbyes, we certainly don’t want to see shows we’ve known and loved hurried out the door, either!
To find out whether — and, if so, to what degree — the series on your must-watch list are being affected by coronavirus shutdowns, scroll through the gallery above (or click here for direct access).
I really hope Supernatural will resume filming. The 2 remaining episodes are the serie finale and it would be so sad if the Winchesters don’t get the goodbye they deserve.
It’s not like they’re just going to skip it. It may come a bit late, but eventually they’ll finish.
That could get tricky though with scheduling. If the actors/editors/etc. aren’t available due to other obligations, who knows if they’ll be able to finish properly.
Hey, it would be great if their break was long enough that they decided they didn’t want to end the show after all. :-)
I can see Supernatural ending this season with what they have, then filming the last 2 episodes once production starts up again. They can use the 2 episodes as a movie first thing next season. Kinda of like what CSI did a few years ago.
Oh for sure I see everyone coming back to close up shop. However if it’s like July before things start to be ‘normal’ again then maybe the actors need to move on to their new shows.
The problem with Supernatural, is that Jared is committed to start filming his new series. I know it’s on the CW but I don’t know what his contractual commitment may be, since it would involve not just him, but the casts and crews of both series. I hope they can work this out because it would be horrible if for some reason they can’t film the last 2 episodes and we’re left with no ending.
@TheJimMichaels
When it is safe to return to work, we will finish what we have started
Knowing what the actors are like, they would make an effort to see the show gets a proper finale. And they can’t just drop the last episode since there’s an overall story this season that promises to resolve the entire series. If they didn’t do the final episodes they would have to come back and do a movie to wrap it all up.
What about New Amsterdam? It’s a NBC show, and since all others are impacted I’m going to assume this one is also.
I was also wondering about New Amsterdam, why no info about its status?
They had to stop production too. This list is incomplete.
Of course, New Amsterdam is affected since it is filmed in NYC. So I guess we are going to miss some of the episodes.
I don’t see Nancy Drew listed and there are 6 episodes left to air
Nancy Drew is on the list, all episodes have not been filmed so a shortened season is possible.
A list of shows that have completed production would be helpful as those will probably air full seasons
All such shows are denoted in the attached gallery. –Mgmt.
This could bode well for any shows on the renewal bubble. With a thinner slate of pilots and potentially late returns to production, we may get less new series next year.
I’m kinda hoping that most shows will still film the remaining episodes (especially when there’s only 1-2 left), but I’m pretty sure most shows will just call it a day. Situation reminds me of the writers strike a little bit. Weird seasons.
What about Good Girls by the way? It’s not mentioned.
So it’s ok for the production crew to risk becoming infected with covid-19 just because you are going to be deprived of your show? This virus is deadly to the ederly and people with underlying health conditions. What if someone from the production crew or cast unkowingly becomes infected and then infects their parents, grandparents, friends?
All three chicago shows have wrapped production. Chicago Fire’s showrunner Derek Haas made the official announcement on Twitter on Saturday.
I wonder how far into production Fear The Walking Dead was.
They were only half done. Filming from November to June this season.
Any word about Blue Bloods and New Amsterdam?
New amsterdam is officially wrapped. 19 episodes instead of 22.
So glad The 100 finished up just in time!
Any news on The Bold Type? I know the spring finale is in two weeks and it’s a longer season this time around, 18 episodes I think.
What I read in this list is that a lot of shows will have to forego the inevitable drama-inducing cliffhanger and just expect their viewers to come back anyway in the (late) fall.
I see no mention of “Mom.” I remember seeing that they were going to film without an audience. Is that still the plan? I think they had 2-3 episodes left to film for season 7.
There will be a lot of interesting, pieced together finales this year. I wonder why some shows finished production long before their finale dates and others are only ~4 weeks ahead.
Also- it hasn’t started airing yet, but I was poking around the instagram pages of CW’s In The Dark (show page and actors) and it looks like they’ve wrapped production on their upcoming season already.
I am confused on Supergirl. I understood they shortened the season 5 order to 20 episodes and yet you are reporting 21 of 22 completed.
I’m sure Supernatural’s final 2 eps will get filmed for airing this summer. Jared’s Walker reboot is on the CW as well. They will want their longest running series to get it’s proper ending.
I’m sure American Idol will be impacted and then how much longer until Katie delivers???
Supernatural is the only one that frustrates me because it is the final season.
They better let Supernatural finish their final episodes somehow. That would suck if it didn’t have a real finale
Of course my shows are all impacted by this. Looks like it’s going to be reruns for me between the break of current episodes and ones yet to be filmed.
Stay safe all!!!!
Everybody should relax about Supernatural. It’s like TV’s version of people’s obsession with hoarding toilet paper. They will finish the show. Even if it takes a while to come back, they’re going to finish it. It’s not like they’re going to throw their hands up and say, “Oh well”.
Yeah… no way outside the grim reaper it won’t get proper closure.
I think the best solution for most of these shows will be to shorten the next season. The remaining episodes of the current season can be filmed starting July when they normally return for the next season, in order to end the season properly. Those last episodes could air in August/September, followed directly by the next season, which will probably be shorter in most cases, but at least they can prepare and write that season accordingly.
SWAT & SEAL Team are so painfully close to finishing their orders. SEAL Team was filming it’s final 2 episodes simultaneously. I hope against hope they can come back after the hiatus and finish them off, even if having to work with skeleton crews.
Supernatural is in quite a pickle, but I can imagine them trying to finish as well, as there is no next season.
Simple solution for containment if long term, air all series finished yet to air early! Better ratings and people not watched prior may go back to stream past seasons if know of this to happen!
My favorite show, Stumptown, wrapped filming Friday, March 6th. All hell broke loose the following Monday. (too close for comfort) My heart goes out to all those whose shows were affected. Hope it all works out.
