I liked the first season… but am surprised it was renewed… I thought Netflix had a policy of not renewing anything anymore
They usually cancel shows after a third season. They only care about acquring costumers, not pleasing existing costumers, because the competition isn’t a threat… yet.
Costumes are important, after all.
But yes, you have a point – they rarely put out “one and done” series – if they’ve invested in something lavish and expensive, it makes sense to get their money’s worth by shooting at least two or three seasons.
The Crown will end with the 5th season. Maybe because of its popularity?

Why does Netflix renew so many of these same kind of shows yet cancels more thought provoking shows like “Patriot Act”? I know possibly ratings.
I bet it probably comes down to the return on their investment. It’s tricky to figure out exactly, but I imagine there’s a point where the number of views they get from people just rewatching old episodes outweighs the cost/benefit of producing new ones.
With a topical non-fiction show like Patriot Act, there’s a much greater pressure for constant new content than there is with a scripted drama or comedy series.
Patriot Act was on Amazon not Netflix
Well, Netflix is the one that cancelled it…

Nope, it was on Netflix
each season a show becomes more expensive because the cast and crew are up for renegotiations, unless they agree on getting paid a certain amount for a certain number of years. at some point the cost of paying the cast and crew becomes more than the value of the show, so they just scrap the expensive show and start another new show that costs less
Because Netflix’s model works better with binge watching.
That is why they are practically the only viewing platform that doesn’t have it’s own version of a “daily show”. They had Michelle Wolf, but cancelled her because they saw that people don’t bother watching something on a daily\weekly basis.
Yes! So happy… this and that Stranger Things isn’t ending with season 4.
The finale ended in such a weird place, so I’m glad that there will definitely be more.
Excited to see them really dig more into the story, now that the “wandering around ignorantly” portion is out of the way.
I’m still watching this (I do not binge), so glad to hear that “wandering around ignorantly” has, hopefully, stopped. After the first three, surprisingly decent, episodes, I worried the wheels were starting to come off. So far, I am not happy with how they treated the orphanage nun part of her story and the house squatting guy just dumping his “friends” for her, but the last episode seemed to tighten the wheels again.
Totally agree that those two subplots in particular were not handled in a satisfying way.
Fortunately, when the plot shifts back towards the actual central events regarding the fate of the Halo and the nuns of the Order, it definitely gets better.
Woo-hoo! Great news.
Omg so excited!!! This show was so fun- can’t wait to see where they take it!
never made it past the pilot sooo…. makes no difference to me. Would rather some news about Space Force, etc
HOORAY….loved season 1.
I loved the first season and the way they left it, had to have a second season, I had just heard that Wu Assassins has been renewed for season 2????
Really fun show. Took a few episodes to find its footing but the last 2/3 of the season was great.
I gave up half-way though the first season, the comparisons to Buffy were hyped to say the least
