Who knew? When Yellowstone was axed by Paramount Network, a branch of the Dutton family tree got chopped off in the process.
Christian rocker Cory Asbury tells Taste of Country that he had been cast for Season 6 as a long-lost brother of Kayce Dutton’s (and, presumably, Beth and Jamie’s as well). “I was fired up about it and so bummed when it was cancelled,” he says. “So bummed.”
The singer/songwriter’s family was on board with the gig, too, even though it meant moving to Big Sky Country for a full year. Wife “Anna gave me the OK,” he disclosed on the Dutton Rules podcast, “and our kids were like, ‘OK, cool, we’ll live in Montana.’”
Not until after halfway through Yellowstone’s Season 5 was the decision made to take Taylor Sheridan’s megahit to the train station. The back half of the season, including the series finale, will start airing in November 2024.
Mind you, that will in no way, shape or form be the end of the franchise. In the works are two new spinoffs, 1944 and 2024, the latter of which is set to star Matthew McConaughey.
TVLine has reached out to a Yellowstone rep for comment on Asbury’s remarks.
Take a peek at the above photo gallery to see Who’s Who in the Dutton family, not only on Yellowstone but all of its spinoffs as well.
It fully possible for him to appear in the 2024 spin-off. If Sheridan really liked the character he could always bring him in then. That seems more plausible to me, that he shows up after John Dutton dies. (Assuming thats how this season will end)
After hearing all the hype about “Yellowstone” over the past year, I finally indulged and started watching it from the very beginning. It was rivetting for the most part….that is, until I was a few episodes into season 4, and the experience totally fell flat for me.
I honestly tried to get into Yellowstone but never did. Then 1883 came along, it was amazing! I also enjoyed 1923.
Thanks for letting me take peak at what you have to offer… I WILL BE BACK!!!
Jamie is adopted, so not a blood brother, and why “presumably” about Beth…Kayce & Beth don’t have the same parents?
Lol, well it wouldn’t have been Jamie’s…..
It’s one of the best well shows! Cast is the best!
Thanks
We’ve been fans of the show from the start, and remained so despite Sheridan’s ‘jump the shark’ extremes (with Beth). Rewatching S5 yesterday…we’re good with it ending now. It wouldn’t be worth watching without KC.
