It’s Geralt of Rivia like you’ve never seen him before! Netflix on Wednesday released the official first look at Liam Hemsworth as The Witcher‘s titular hero, a role he’s inheriting from Henry Cavill ahead of the show’s fourth season.
“His look has been in development for over a year, so it’s thrilling to finally share an official sneak peek,” showrunner Lauren S. Hissrich tells Entertainment Weekly. “Cast and crew alike have been struck by the passion, energy, and embodiment Liam has brought to the character from Day 1 — scruffy beard, iconic scar, and all! We’re having so much fun filming Season 4 and are excited to welcome fans along on this journey with us.”
News of this game-changing recast was first announced in Oct. 22, when Cavill himself announced that he would be vacating the role after The Witcher’s third season.
“My journey as Geralt of Rivia has been filled with both monsters and adventures, and alas, I will be laying down my medallion and my swords for Season 4,” he said at the time. “In my stead, the fantastic Mr. Liam Hemsworth will be taking up the mantle of the White Wolf.”
A premiere date for The Witcher Season 4 has not yet been announced. It’s also not yet known how the show will explain its main character’s sudden shift in appearance, if at all.

Admittedly, when Liam Hemsworth was cast… I was unsure how it was going to work out. But, visually, this is working for me!
They’re like superfecundation twins ;)
I’m a big fan of the white wolf 🐺 so excited 😊
It’s strangely fitting that discount Hemsworth be playing discount Geralt.
