With the Masked Singer finale upon us at last, we’re just hours away from (officially) confirming the identities of Season 12’s remaining contestants, Wasp and the Buffalos — though we’re pretty sure we already know which mystery celebrities are inhabiting those costumes.
Putting the Buffalos aside for a moment, TVLine has an exclusive sneak peek of tonight’s finale (Fox, 8/7c) in which the judges place their final bets for Wasp. Jenny McCarthy seems pretty sold on Jason Derulo, Robin Thicke is leaning towards Anthony Ramos and Ken Jeong would stake his doctorate degree on Usher.
If you ask us, though, they’re all way off. In fact, the only correct guess comes from Rita Ora, who theorizes that Wasp is none other than — spoiler alert! — singer Mario.
Watch the judges place their final guesses below:
How do we know Ora has the right answer? Let’s go over some of the clues Wasp has offered up this season: Not only did Wasp’s ambassador Ne-Yo write one of Mario’s earliest hits (“Let Me Love You”), but the popped heart balloon in his initial clue package was likely a nod to his biggest song (“Just a Friend”). As for the planet Mars clue, that was referencing Mario’s 2020 EP Closer to Mars. As for “the biggest stages and screens,” Mario’s career has included roles in movies like Step Up and Freedom Writers, as well as the role of Benny in Fox‘s production of Rent: Live.
Thus far, 13 celebrities have been unmasked this season: John Elway as Leaf Sheep, Yvette Nicole Brown as Showbird, Marsai Martin as Woodpecker, Paula Cole as Ship, Andy Richter as Dust Bunny, Laverne Cox as Chess Piece, Natalie Imbruglia as Bluebell, Bethany Hamiton as Macaron, Drake Bell as Ice King, Jana Kramer as Royal Knight, Bronson Arroyo as Sherlock Hound, Kobie Turner as Goo, and AJ Michalka as Strawberry Shortcake.
Do you think Ora is right about Wasp? And what’s your guess for the three-person Buffalos? Hit PLAY on the video above for a sneak peek at the finale, then drop a comment with your thoughts below.
Either I am really getting old or these are mostly C and D list celebrities (probably both), but I only recognize six of the unmasked 13 celebrities mentioned in the article. Is it just me, or are the celebs on the show getting more and more obscure each season.
I thinks the wasp is Usher but could Be Mario. IM older so I don’t listen too much of their music.
Whoever the Wasp is, he sings a style of music I don’t like. His voice does nothing for me. Here’s hoping Boys II Men win. They have some of the best harmonies I’ve ever heard (outside of Wilson Phillips).

I think it Bruno mars the waps
I thought this was Sammie or Mario. Both started R&B careers young and had tribute songs to their mothers in the clues.
