With your broadcast-TV favorites now on holiday break, TVLine is looking at how each network’s shows are stacking up thus far in the 2021-22 TV season. Having previously eyed ABC, NBC and CBS, next up is Fox.[pmc_inline_gallery]
Listed below is the average DEMO RATING for each Fox series (including Live+7 DVR playback, since the networks do take that metric into consideration at renewal/cancellation time). Alongside that column you will find the TOTAL AUDIENCE for each program, as well as any noteworthy PERFORMANCE NOTES.
Each program’s RANK (far left) represents what is perhaps the most critical measure — how it is faring in the coveted 18-49 demo compared to other shows on Fox, since come springtime heads must roll to make room for shiny-and-new pilots. (Any ties in the demo were “broken” by total viewership, because I decided so.)
THE TVLINE BOTTOM LINE: “9-1-1, what’s your emergency?”
“This is Fox, and we’ve aired our last Thursday Night Football for at least a decade.”
Yes, Fox led the broadcast pack this fall in the demo (averaging a 1.39 with DVR playback), but with Prime Video claiming dibs on TNF starting in 2022, it will be curious to see what moves the network makes moving forward, having for a few falls now been able to take a knee two nights a week. Luckily, 9-1-1 isn’t showing as much erosion as its procedural peers, but there has to be some concern about Masked Singer‘s steady, steady decline. With The Big Leap and Our Kind of People both failing to move the ratings needle, Fox remains due for a big hit — will the mob drama The Cleaning Lady or the music-themed sudser Monarch muster any midseason buzz?
Which Fox ranking most surprises or delights you?

The Big Leap was so good! I wish more people watched it. It’s a feel good show and we need more of those on tv
Feel like its probably doing well on Hulu/Disney+ based on all the promo i’ve heard for it.
I agree. I love The Big Leap!
I loved it too. Hopefully it’s doing well streaming because I’m worried it’s going to get cancelled.
LOVED The Big Leap! I thought it was one of the better new tv shows and I hope it’s given a chance and given a Season 2. Please Fox, give it a chance!
First year in a very long time that we haven’t watched any Fox shows other than NFL. Maybe going all the way back to when 24 started. There has always been at least one show. Last year the cancelled shows we did watch. Nothing this year has been of interest other than NFL.
Sad that two of the only new shows I put in my rotation this year are at the very bottom of this list.
Every time I look at a list of FOX shows, I’m reminded that I don’t watch any of their current scripted fare. The clips I’ve seen so far for The Cleaning Lady haven’t inspired much confidence in it for me, but I’m still going to give it a chance, and while Monarch doesn’t look terrible, it really doesn’t seem like my cup of tea.
The Big Leap is SO fantastic. Fox needs to renew it, notwithstanding the ratings, which probably doesn’t reflect Hulu or Disney viewing.
The Resident looks good for a final season renewal on your chart. The shows numbers will continue to decline next year but given how dead new scripted is on the network its a smart decision to make.
Agree..it’s so much better than CMed and The Good Doc that it’s not even close.
The Big Leap deserved so much better. Shame on FOX for setting it up to fail.
There’s probably an alternate universe out there where Fox scheduled the show with Masked Singer and found a hit.
That would have been a good call, especially since this season they stretched the Masked Singer episodes so much – seriously a 2 hour finale with only 2 contestants left?! Watched the finale in about 40 minutes after recording it
Endlessly happy that 9-1-1 keeps doing so well in the ratings
With Prodigal Son cancelled, the 911 shows are all I watch now on Fox.
Not terribly surprised to see that The Resident gets a big DVR bump. In previous seasons it’s been up against NCIS; this year it’s up against FBI.
So bummed to see Big Leap’s numbers – love that show!!
Ugh, how can The Big Leap be last!!?? That’s so sad. It’s a really good show with a great cast and interesting storytelling. Love Scott Foley in this role. Guess there is no chance of it returning?? That’s a bummer.
FOX should have kept THE ORVILLE…
It’s stunning to see just how far both FOX and ABC have fallen in just a few seasons. It’s been years since either network has been able to develop a successful new series. FOX will likely only have 2 hours of live programming returning from this fall. At some point a network is going to have to change regimes and try something completely different like when FOX first debuted.
Years? That’s not true.
I did enjoy the Big Leap
I really liked the Big Leap. I thought it had a lot of promise and some great characters. I hope they get picked up for another season by any network.
Only watching 911, and some football.
I ditched FOX prime time when they canceled Human Target.
That was a good show. Cancelled way too early.
I STILL miss the action-packed ‘Human Target’!
Our Kind of People is great TV, my latest obsession. No guns, blood or guts! Give it a chance!
I miss Prodigal Son.
FOX always cancels great shows but as good as they start they tend to fall apart by end of season one and beginning of season two. Dollhouse anyone? We could have been kept in the dark on some of those “Doll” reveals. Josh Whedon could have weaved more intricate plots and subplots that tied together eventually if lasting longer than two seasons. Their could have been a bigger, sinister threat than the Dollhouse to rival or use them as a pawn.
