Now that your broadcast-TV favorites are on holiday break, TVLine is looking at how each network’s shows are stacking up thus far in the 2021-22 TV season. Having first eyed CBS, next up is NBC.[pmc_inline_gallery]
Listed below is the average DEMO RATING for each NBC series (including Live+7 DVR playback, since the networks do take that metric into consideration at renewal/cancellation time). Alongside that column you will find the TOTAL AUDIENCE for each program, as well as any noteworthy PERFORMANCE NOTES.
Each program’s RANK (far left) represents what is perhaps the most critical measure — how it is faring in the coveted 18-49 demo compared to other shows on NBC, since come springtime heads must roll to make room for shiny-and-new pilots. (Any ties in the demo were “broken” by total viewership, because I decided so.)
THE TVLINE BOTTOM LINE: Sunday Night Football continues to score a touchdown (allow me the easy puns, OK?), delivering a bigger (and younger) audience than last year… The #OneChicago trifecta remains a beast, drawing slightly smaller but markedly younger audiences than CBS’ well-watched procedurals…. If you clap with one hand for NCIS being TV’s most watched drama, you gotta use the other to applaud SVU, which in its 23rd season barely lost any eyeballs. (Will the Law & Order revival prove a better lead-in than the ever-buzzless Blacklist?)… People rolled their eyes at La Brea, but NBC had the last laugh with those solid, steady numbers…. Ordinary Joe is the sort of “big swing” people beckon network-TV to take, but it’ll be a tough renewal call with those numbers.
Which ranking most surprises you?

Never count out SVU and Olivia Benson.
My favorite is Chicago Fire and I am over 50 yes old one reason my favorite because of Taylor Kinney , ever since the beginning.
La Brea is my guilty pleasure.
Law & Order is the last piece of the puzzle to create a solid ratings night on Thursday for NBC. I dont think the bloc will match the Chicago one but you just know its going to do well.
Surprised to find I watch nothing on this network currently.
The only shows I watch on NBC are New Amsterdam and Chicago Med. Glad to see they are doing well.
So disappointed my Ordinary Joe isn’t doing better. Not enough people are willing to put in the effort to follow the 3 storylines which upsets me. James Wolk is too good in this to give up on it so soon. It would definitely benefit from a better time slot.
It had NBC’s best possible available lead-in. TV’s #2-rated reality show.
I am with Denise on this, for my money Ordinary Joe is the best show on TV right now and no one is watching it. It’s a shame people refuse to watch good shows but will watch the dreg that is reality TV.
I love Ordinary Joe, would be so sad to not see it renewed.
Soon-to-be Canceled Joe (though I do watch and enjoy the show)
Where is This is Us???
fall 2021 this is us hasn’t premiered season 6 yet
Thank you Coby. I forgot that This is Us wasn’t on in the fall. The season 5 finale is on tonight so I am watching it. I am excited yet sad for the last season.
Would have like to see several of these new NBC shows. but haven’t since October 1st ads DISH and Tegna are fighting
I love how SVU has consistently skewed so young for years! Nice to see it in the top 5 and sitting at #4 among scripted NBC shows. :)
SVU really is a beast in itself for surviving so long and bringing in those numbers still. I can definitely see an excellent Thursday night run with L&O, SVU and OC.
I love Chicago Fire
I love #stellaride
I love Miranda Rae Mayo❤🥰
I’ve only watched one of these shows, and that’s a hate watch.
On network TV, I watch NBC the most. The Voice, SNF, SNL (which wasn’t listed here, but should have been), This Is Us, New Amsterdam, Chicago Wednesday & L&O Thursday (OC was surprisingly excellent). I even enjoy Dateline if I’m home on Friday. Glad to see my faves are doing well so far!
SNL, The Originals on Saturday Night after Local news isn’t on here, because they only do the Monday thru Saturday hours of 8:00 pm to 11:00pm and Sundays from 7:00 pm to 11:00 pm.
Ordinary Joe is my favorite show in the past few years. Please, people. Give it a try.
Hello NBC – I don’t watch many of your shows anymore. I watch Law and Order SVU, Law and Order OC. I gave LaBrea three episodes, and it is one of the worst shows you’ve produced since SuperTrain! I am looking forward to the Law and Order revival, and since I did mention SuperTrain, from that era, bring back Cliffhangers!, lol.
I just love TV Line it seems to answer most of my questions. I am 77 year old lady who watches a lot of TV, not much else to do. I happen to be one of the ones who has watch most shows since inception, like NCIS, SVU, and the Chicago Trifecta.
