In the latest TV ratings, CBS’ Elsbeth finale was Thursday’s most-watched show, while ABC’s 9-1-1 led the night in the demo.
CBS | Leading out of The Price Is Right at Night (which drew 3.8 million total viewers and a 0.4 demo rating), Elsbeth‘s freshman finale (4.9 mil/0.3, average TVLine reader grade “A”; read post mortem) was up 14% week-to-week.
ABC | 9-1-1 (4.5 mil/0.5, read recap) and Station 19 (2.4 mil/0.2) both hit four-episode highs in audience, with the former also rising in the demo. Grey’s Anatomy (3 mil/0.4, read recap) added some eyeballs.
NBC | Leading out of this year’s Red Nose Day special (1.5 mil/0.2), The Wall drew 1.5 mil and a 0.2.
FOX | I Can See Your Voice (1.1 mil/0.2) was steady, and Don’t Forget the Lyrics returned to a typical 1.15 mil and 0.2.

The Live+Same Day numbers reported in TVLine’s daily-ish ratings column do NOT reflect a television program’s overall performance, given the increased use of delayed playback via DVR and streaming platforms, plus out-of-home viewing. These numbers instead aim to simply illustrate trends or superlatives. Steve Harvey is not a judge or lawyer and merely offers an alternative forum of dispute resolution.
And this is why Elsbeth was renewed for those who moaned that their show was canceled instead of this one.
ELSBETH is very enjoyable
I don’t get it. I love the character of Elsbeth and all of her quirks, but I really dislike the “Columbo” format. To me, there is never a point to watching this show when you already know who did it (spoiler: it’s the celebrity guest of the week) and Elsbeth always figures it out in two seconds. I wish they would mix up the format, because there’s no mystery for me in this mystery show.
This week there were two celebrity guests–Andre DeShields and Laura Benanti–and we didn’t find out whodunnit till the very end. I get it that it’s been more of the Columbo format before this, where we see who did it and then it’s like a cat-and-mouse game for the detective to catch them up, but that’s a legit structure, too. I love Columbo! And Monk and all the other ones where our quirky detective knows right away who did it and then just has to figure out how or why or where the evidence is. Besides, this way we get guest stars like Jesse Tyler Ferguson and Retta and Andre DeShields and Laura Benanti, who are SO much fun!
There’s a reason why this format is so popular. Granted we know who committed the murder, but this show reminds me of a British mystery show. I feel like I could like these characters if they were real. I want to see them every week.
Elsbeth enjoy it while you have it bc you’ll be next trust me! Matlock will have your inherited time slot!
I only want a few things out of CBS and I got one Sheryl Underwood has finally GOT HERS!!!!!
Now I would love to see Y&R and B&B along with new soap SCREW IT UP MAJORLY!!!!
After the very very few shows I will watch leaves CBS I am REALLY REALLY GONE THIS TIME!!!! Poppa’s House, I can’t stop lololol There was too many spin offs that could have been done instead of a stupid one of the Neighborhood with Tracey Morgan on Paramount, SMH, HOW SMART YOU IDIOTS ARE!
I don’t know what network deserves TRACKER but it’s not YOU!!!!
I really hope someone at CBS and I don’t care whom reads comments as a job.
Sheryl Underwood has a deal with CBS, which lasts for 3 more years. She might get a talk show in 2 years and she will produce and star in comedy shows. The talk will be its last season, cancelled after 15 years. Last episode will be in December. Sheryl is funny and well liked.
The show will move to Paramount Plus before being outright cancelled. It would then join the long list of shows produced by Robert and Michelle King on the platform.
Very happy to see Elsbeth is continuing to grow in audience. I enjoyed season 1 a lot and think Wendell Piece has been a great compliment to the star and rest of the cast! Glad to know season 2 is on the way!
Who is watching this ?
I think Elsbeth is a terrific show. I loved her character when it was featured on The Good Wife/The Good Fight and I still love it. I enjoy the Columbo format (then again, maybe that’s because I liked Columbo too). So glad there will be a season 2!
Elsbeth last night (5/23/24) was supposed to be the season finale. But it actually was showing the 3rd Episode instead. So, was CBS not showing the Elsbeth season finale only in Utah? We didn’t get to see the one about a fashion show runway model’s murder, that was described as the “season finale.”
There were two episodes: finale at 9/8c, and a rerun at 10 pm.
That was a very mean thing for CBS to do.
