CBS‘ Fire Country this Friday introduced us to Mickey Fox, a sergeant with the Edgewater County sheriff’s department.
Played by Morena Baccarin (Gotham, Homeland), Mickey made her grand entrance at the top of the episode via bit of a helicopter chase, between her/her pilot and a drug runner. The suspect lobbed his duffel bag of cash out the ‘copter door, veritably raining bills down on the Three Rock inmates below. The ill-gotten cash was promptly rounded up, though, with (almost) all of it accounted for.
What did we learn about Mickey? Well, she is none other than Sharon’s sister, by way of Mickey’s dad years ago being married Sharon’s mom (if only for a spell). Mickey has a daughter, Skye, who should be a freshman in college but is actually in rehab, she eventually shared with Sharon.
But first and foremost, Mickey and Sharon have been estranged for years, due to the fact that Mickey had a young Bode arrested for stealing (baseball cleats); Sharon in turn came to blame Mickey, verbally and loudly, for how Bode’s life of addiction and incarceration turned out.
A humbled Sharon offered an olive branch pretty early on in the episode, but Mickey would not accept it at first. By the end of the hour, the estranged sibs had reached a certain peace, as Mickey opened up about “perfect” Skye’s rehab, and after the ladies teamed up on a manhunt for escaped Three Rock inmate Rudy (who has cancer and just six months to live, and just wanted to see his kids).
On the professional front, Mickey works for Sheriff Fred Watkins (played by Michael St. John Smith) and supervises Lt. Andy Kubiak (Alberto Frezza). Neither of them will be continuing on to any potential Sheriff Country spinoff, however, seeing as Andy turned out to be dirty, and in the course of covering his tracks killed Watkins.
Baccarin signed on to guest-star in this “not a backdoor pilot!” episode, with on option to lead any potential spinoff as a series regular. Based on your first time spent with Mickey, would you tune in for a sheriff-centric offshoot? Vote down below!
Elsewhere this week: With the action picking up a month after Cara’s tragic death, Jake is still and understandably reeling, to a degree that he has kinda been blowing off Gen (for fear of breaking down in front of her). With Gen’s possi-dad at Three Rock, Sharon and Vince were named the tween’s custodial guardians, and the latter spent much of the episode helping her build a volcano for a school project. By episode’s end, Jake got his s–t together enough to return to Gen’s side and help with the volcano’s finishing touches.
As Jake did so, Sharon got wind of the paternity test results, and… Bode is 100% not Gen’s father. Sigh. Sharon shared the news first with Mickey (?!), and then later Bode. Bode of course was crestfallen to hear by the truth, noting his vow to take care of Cara’s kid (and by doing so, do one thing right in his life). But as Sharon noted, he still can do that, with support from the extended Leone family.

Absolutely. I really liked this episode, and Mickey. If this turns into a spinoff, I’d watch.
Yeah mee, too!!
I don’t know that there’s enough to make into a spinoff. But if they wanted to add her to and expand Fire Country, I would love that. Mickey is an awesome character and I’m sure Skye could be too.
Love “Fire Country”! Hope Bode gets out of jail soon. Been in 3 Rock too long!
I really hope the writers don’t keep finding ridiculous reasons to keep Bode stuck in 3 Rock. Let him get out, join 42 and then he can eventually run 3 Rock down the line
The Bode father reveal is such a letdown, especially after all that build up. Would love the spin-off.
They should just add Mickey on FC and have that be that. They don’t need a whole a** spin off but she is a good character.
I’ll admit, I hated the secret baby storyline when they introduced this, but now I’m
Kinda sad Gen isn’t his. Hopefully they can stick to the idea of raising Gen because she literally has no one.
Would the spin off be misery porn too?
The spin-off might be a good fit for Fridays at 10pm after BLUE BLOODS ends.
Love fire country and would love a spinoff of sheriff County Mickey would be good and skye too would open the whole town up and give them a lot more to do on both shows it’s a big Yes for me for a spinoff series. PS they should let Bode out already hopefully come the end of season 2 fingers crossed 🤞
I don’t understand, so would Sherif Country be lead by Moreena Baccarin or not? Because I would definitely want to see more of HER. Frankly, if she were added to the cast of Fire Country, I’d love it much, much more, because the relationship between Mickey and Sharon was A-mazing! Loved it. And I’d love to meet Skye and I’d love to see her interacting with Body. So. There’s that.
Baccarin would star, yes.
If I wanted to watch two women argue for an hour, I’d turn on The View.
If I wanted to see sexist comments, I would visit the comments section of a right-wing news site.
Loved Moreena Baccarin in Deadpool and Gotham, and I’d try a spin-off. Ultimately, the quality would determine how long I stuck around. Fire Country is on a short leash with me right now anyway, and I almost stopped watching after the unbelievable scenario that kept Bode at Three Rock to end last season.
I would watch Morena Baccarin read the phone book

No. Not since they made her family. It seems that writers want everyone to be surrounded by family and discussing their problems in the middle of every case.
As long as it is not as much a soap opera as Fire Country currently is.
I love Morena Baccarin going back to when I first saw her in Stargate SG-1. I would watch any series she headlines (and I am pretty sure I have). If there is a spin off I would watch it. However I feel like the Bode paternity reveal was a sucker punch to the viewers who were invested in that story.
One of the best shows ever. Keep it with more seasons or at least a spinoff that equals this shows excitement
Love Morena B so would definitely watch it. But was bummed Lt. Andy was dirty – loved him on Station 19 and was hoping he’d be part of the cast.
Perhaps. Sheriff Country sounds like a really stupid title though.
I probably will, if it’s not in the “case of the week” format. That format is very tiring.
