CBS‘ very recently cancelled NCIS: Hawai’i this Monday night served up Part 1 of its Season 3 — and now series — finale. How high are the stakes heading into next week’s very final episode? (And who didn’t make it out of Part 1 alive?)
The episode “Spill the Tea” opened with Jesse, Kai and a grabbed-during-her-morning jog Lucy rudely rounded up and loaded into a van by NCIS Elite (sorry, ELITE, since it’s an acronym) team members Rosemary and Thyme. They were delivered to ELITE’s top-secret holding center, where Jane and her team, Dr. Chase included, were needed to work a crime scene — the crime being Volkov aka The Chemist’s murder, by poisoned tea.
We learned that Special Agent Swift had tea with Volkov every day; in fact, the fed prepared and served the tea himself, so there were no clues there. Dr. Chase eventually deduced that Volkov had a heavily compromised immune system (due to his years of work with noxious chemicals), and he had been slowly poisoned by regular servings of tea that contained an herbal supplement that triggered a deadly allergic reaction.
Meanwhile, Kai and Lucy had gone looking for the procurements guy who outfitted the ELITE hub, and instead found who they come to realize is a killer for a Bratva faction. That led the “NCIS Regular” and NCIS ELITE teams to a motel where other Russkies were holed up. A firefight ensued, Bratva goons died, and the agents found a frightened young woman being held prisoner: Dr. Annalise Cruz, Volkov’s assistant.
Swift went in hard when grilling Cruz, until Jane reined him in. A softer touch by Dr. Chase led Cruz to share details on Volkov’s ominous-sounding “Compound X”: it’s a bioweapon that is odorless and tasteless and airborne, makes your body destroy itself, and can kill thousands in minutes. Thing is, NCIS ELITE has yet to crack where Volkov’s fourth and final lab is located.
Sam and the ELITE team, along with Jane, Jesse, Dr. Chase and Dr. Cruz, hopped a PJ to Belgrade, after Swift deduced that is where the lab is. When Jesse questioned how they can operate where they have no jurisdiction, Sam explained that ELITE’s whole bag is “going places they’re not welcome and solving problems before anyone knows they’re there.” (Jesse also learned that ELITE stands for “Elevated Logics Intelligence and Tactics”; as Rosemary explained, “the last E is silent.”)
After Jane (via a colorful local asset named Milos aka the Serbian version of NCIS: LA‘s Nina Barnes) got the teams outfitted with firepower, she (with Jesse as backup) paid a visit to Bratva boss Lev Fedorov, charming him with her brazen approach in a public eatery. After trading vodka shots for intel bits, Jane fed the lab’s location to Sam and the ELITE team, who raced to storm it.
But just as Sam & Co. breached the lab, and Dr. Cruz found/packed up the Compound X canisters, Fedorov treated Jane to an extra, curious bit of intel: Dr. Cruz hadn’t been abducted by Bratva and brought to Hawai’i; she had already been there, for weeks. But before Jane could get word to Sam that Cruz cannot be trusted, the not-at-all-good doctor unleashed one canister of Compound X on Rosemary, Thyme and New Jesse, who were confined in an airlock, while a helpless Sam watched through a window from outside the door….
What did you think of the entertaining “NCIS Regular” vs. NCIS ELITE (and “Old Jesse” vs. “New Jesse”) dynamics? Did Dr. Cruz fool you at all? And how sad must Sam be to lose his ELITE team so easily soon?
Wooowwwww. This Season really did spend alllll this Season propping up a mystery team to explain why Sam was there, and then you just get rid of all of them in 1 fell swoop.
This, has been such a huge waste of time, and a prime opportunity to give NCIS LA fans long awaited closure on that Morocco mission!!
Never likrd the show or cast.Ncis LA was the best spin off of the series .It’s time to end it all.
The only one worse than LA was New Orleans. Hawaii was better than either one.
Was surprised when she pulled that stunt can’t wait for next episode
If you didn’t like it, why are you even HERE? No one forced you to comment.
I thought they were setting them up to be a new spinoff NCIS:ELITE. Guess not
I thought that too – much preferable to Origins or Sydney!
I thought so also. I never watch much NCIS LA or Hawaii but I found myself watching Hawaii this year. This whole Elite thing had me intrigued. While I found it cocky and a little Annoying the way the team kept referring to themselves I still thought it was a great spin-off and I was ready to sign on. No Dr Cruz did not fool me at all. Something was off about her
After watching this episode, that actually would’ve been cool though. That’s why everything that they did with this cancellation sucked.
I can’t believe you’re canceling this show!!!!
Who are you talking too
I can’t believe you are taking this show off the air. it is such a great show from the cast to the writers. There are so many great shows that CBS is removing from the air.
I look forward every week to watch the show. . Money is the bottom line for CBS. They have forgotten the world we live in. Not everyone has the money to go to places like Hawaii but for one hr. I dream of going one day.
One gets happy when Sam joins the team for a couple of episodes. The whole episode felt rushed and underdeveloped, and at times silly. Just hope that Sam survives the poisoning so he can guest star in original NCIS. I will miss Kai and Jesse.
So tired of networks canceling good shows. NCIS HAWAII was getting better and better! Hope another stupid reality show doesn’t replace it.
I won’t be watching. Screw CBS!
I totally understand his sentiment, toward CBS, and the folks who produce the programs. We were enjoying NCIS:Hawaii more and more each week,
and even though it had its annoying side, we truly enjoyed watching Agent Tenant, play her character with such awesomeness, and realism…
We have pretty much decided not to Trust the Money Hungries at CBS, and
We will be done with NCIS spin-offs, from now on. We enjoyed New Orleans and L.A. very much, the actors played their characters, with excellence, they put their All into their roles, even when the plots weren’t their best, yet we all lost programs we enjoyed, and really good Actors and Crew, lost their jobs,
We will probably watch NCIS Parker, because we enjoy Parker, and his Team, but we are done being disappointed Guinea pigs, for CBS.
We pray for the Cast, and the Crew of NCIS: Hawaii, and Hope great things come their way very soon, they truly deserve it.
Hawaii and Los Angeles were the only 2 NCIS I watch. I can’t stand Mark Harmon and have only watched a couple of the original since he left. I don’t like the Sydney one and I will never watch the Origins one or the other spinoff. I am so sick of them canceling all the good shows to make more stupid ones.i was hoping for an Elite spinoff instead of Origins which I will never watch.
Nicely said. I loved all the cast members on both shows.
watch hawaii only, nothing else on cbs
It was a good episode but it seems like there is always a case of the teams being to trusting of people. Cruz had a PHD. Swift was right to grill her hard. Based on next week’s highlight I may not watch at all.
It makes no sense to cancel NCIS Hawaii. I read CBS had to make room for several untested shows including a Matlock reboot.
WTF. Matlock no….
More relevant to Hawaii is the fact that they renewed Sydney, and also have the NCIS Origins show coming, AND the Tony/Ziva show on Paramount+. They had one or two too many NCIS shows, basically, and one had to go.
I am so angry that CBS is canceling one of my favorite shows! Cancel one of the “reality” shows or two of the dumb “comedies”!!!that kind of show is the only thing I watch!
They should get rid of Sydney, don’t care for the cast at all. Finally getting invested in the characters and they d/c the show. You suck CBS.
Yes and that stupid elsbeth is so stupid but yet it got renewed for another season but they cannot keep ncis la or ncis hawaii I am with one of the post above I am done with cbs move over other networks so I can see what you have to offer cbs has canceled 3 ncis shows,la,nola, and now hawaii and also so help me Todd and csi vegas which had some faults but still it was good
Thank you
Thaat was a very engrossing episode. It made me mad all over again that NCIS Hawaii has been cancelled. There are others more deserving of being cancelled such as the Equalizer for one,Ghost & Elsbeth. I tried Ghost & didn’t make a whole episode,& the Equalizer is different from the original that I have no interest in it at all.
I will not be watching Matlock. I have no interest in it.
Amen and Hallelujah to that! NCIS Hawaii, So Help Me Todd, and Blue Bloods all swept away to make room for new shows? PLEASE! I will now be moving to another network in these spots. Fire County and ELSBETH should be fired instead.
Liked the dynamics of both teams. Dr. Cruz did not fool me. And I did not losing anybody. AND I HATE THAT NCIS HAWAII has been cancelled. To the decision makers: YOU are taking away a very good show with a very good cast.
Unfortunately CBS could care less about our dislike of the shows they are canceling! They really already have their minds made up! So sad because even the cast of NCSI Hawaii were blind sided by the cancelation!
I mean, Volkov’s assistant? How big a surprise could that be?
Exactly. This sort of twist happens all the time on these shows and it’s really tiresome.
Loved the show. Wondered about cruz. It’s stupid that it’s ending. Cancel Australian one if you have to cancel one.
Please don’t cancel this show!!!!!
Exactly!
We love NCIS Hawaii, please renew.
420stoner. Why cbs taking good NCIS series away and now what I
Postlee going watch CBS.
CBS is on a mission to cancel shows that the viewers enjoy. I thoroughly enjoyed NCIS: Hawaii, until the powers of be, decide to pull the plug. Not happy 😒
Man are yall NUTS CANCELING ALL THE GOOD SHOWS?????🤬🤬🤬🤬CBS is starting to suck
Enjoyed the episode & REALLY ticked the series was cancelled!! I like that Sam has been in Hawaii this season too.
I watch CBS religiously. My favorite channel. Please don’t bump my NCIS Hawaii. I am already losing 4 of my favorite shows. Guess I will have to watch fox or cw now. Please reconsider your line up!!!
I totally agree with you.
#SaveNCISHawaii I am #BOYCOTTING ALL CBS PROGRAMMING UNTIL CBS BRINGS NCIS HAWAII LIKE IT DID FOR S.W.A.T THE LAST 2 YEARS
This cancelation has sealed CBS’s fate with me. I’M DONE WITH THEM. Too many shake ups and personnel changes with NCIS and then when you get another winner after NCIS LA you dump HAWAI’I for Sydney à weak show with characters who have No chemistry, some just can’t act, and Australia is even more expensive than Hawaii. They always make stupid decisions that have nothing to do with what the viewers want to see. So long idiots.
I just hope there isn’t some cliffhanger attached to next week’s episode since this has been filmed prior to the announcement of the cancellation. As disappointed as I am about the cancellation, I think that would be an insult to injury. I really hope the new shows are worth cancelling this one, but none of the new NCIS shows interest me for they feel they are just retreads of what already exists and hoping to pander for viewership and therefore more ad revenue.
Welcome to the world of Hawaii 5 O fans. We too were disappointed about not having a two episode final as promised and a cliffhanger when it had been very easy to put a proper closure onto the show. CBS tends to leave people – cast and producers included – in the dark until the last second so they can´t make real changes anymore.
When Sam joined the show we quit watching. He is not likable. He can’t act and he changed the dynamics of the show
Crazy this show was canceled. CBS must have had some tainted volka! Very sad to see it leave. NCIS Sydney should be canceled NOT Hawaii. Just nuts.
I was very disappointed to hear that NCIS Hawaii was being canceled. Not sure why the powers that be made this decision but obviously didn’t ask their viewers opinions.
They had a similar episode in los angeles callen end up hostage and good doctor become evil .with team being killed and sam is hurt . ” the team take care each other” .
This is dumb they are canceling another good thing down all the show… And we the fans hate it. So if you keep this up you will loose viewers, your might as well close down. You are shutting down many good shows. Only a few left on that I care about.
I can’t believe this series is canceled. This is a great show!
Dr Cruz made me suspicious, but still surprised me at the end!
Sooooooo angry they cancelled Hawaii!!!!
They cancel LA and NO and they expect people to commit to any new shows they start?????? Why get involved with new shows when they cancel ones people have committed to???? Will go to library and read books or watch reruns before I watch another program on CBS !!!!!
REALY UPSET THEY WERE CANCELED. I KNOW IT’S ALL ABOUT THE MONEY.
LOVED THIS SHOW. WILL MISS THE CAST AND THE SHOW.
EVERYONE HAS NOTICED THE ONLY NCIS LEAD BY A WOMAN IS THE ONE CANCELLED.
Maybe Caitlin Clark should be cast as the next NCIS lead.
