If you’ve never tried to make it as an actor in Los Angeles, it can be hard to convey how difficult the life is, how much rejection you face and how hard you have to work to succeed. Well, unless you look like Jacob Elordi.
Saturday Night Live‘s first-time host stretched his acting chops this weekend by playing a very attractive actor visiting other — less attractive — actors in a scene study class on this week’s show.
Trevis Von Shaw (played by Elordi) is brought in by the class’ teacher (Bowen Yang) to inspire them, but it doesn’t quite work out that way. As the students (Chloe Fineman, Heidi Gardner, Andrew Dismukes, Mikey Day and a special guest) reveal their tales of failed auditions and humiliating side gigs, Trevis literally doesn’t know the meaning of the word “rejection.” Or “audition,” since directors just ask him to be in movies.
Rachel McAdams makes a surprise appearance, coinciding with the release of the movie version of the musical version of the movie Mean Girls. Though she doesn’t appear in the remake (or even in the Plastics’ reunion that happened in a recent Walmart commercial), she did make it to Studio 8H to introduce musical guest Reneé Rapp (who played McAdams’ role in Mean Girls on Broadway and in the movie version of the Broadway version of the…). In the sketch, she plays an actress named Natalie Partman, who Trevis says will never make it since she’s constantly mistaken for McAdams.
Watch the sketch above, and then weigh in on this weekend’s SNL.
So you have both Rapp and McAdams in studio and you do nothing with them Together…I thought that was so strange.
Actresses hate playing scenes with the people cast as their character in the REMAKES. Hwood is so ageist, that it does the OG actor NO FAVORS AT ALL.
I didn’t get why she was there til the rap in song where she said she was Regina George
