Saturday Night Live celebrated Mother’s Day by declaring what we already knew: Maya Rudolph is mother.

In her monologue to kick off this week’s SNL, the former cast member admitted that hosting the episode before Mother’s Day is a special honor because she has four kids of her own. Then Bowen Yang and Sarah Sherman came out to tell her: “You’re not just a mom. You’re mother.” In fact, she has “achieved extraterrestrial mother status,” they raved, and Rudolph just laughed it off before getting deadly serious: “You’re right.” That kicked off a glamorous, Pose-esque musical number with Rudolph donning a sparkly shiny bodysuit and Kenan Thompson dubbing her “Mother of the House of Rockefeller.”

“I’m your mother,” Rudolph sang over a throwback club dance beat, adding: “Oops, I made you dance/Remember in that movie when I pooped my pants?” She was trailed by fierce backup dancers as she made her way through Studio 8H, telling us that Mother’s Day is for all kinds of mothers: “stepmothers, godmothers, mothers from another brother, dance moms, Octomoms.” Chloe Fineman asked if dog moms count as she carried a tiny dolled-up pooch, but Rudolph stopped to correct her: “That’s not a dog. That’s a bitch!”

Rudolph’s performance was an instant hit, with Punkie Johnson bringing her “a message from the gays: The monologue? It’s giving body-ody-ody.” Rudolph strutted back to the stage, rattling off SNL character names in the style of Madonna’s “Vogue” before striking a final pose, giant metallic fan in hand. Looks like Mother’s Day started early!
