It all comes down to this. And who would’ve thought that one Kate Chastain would be left as the sole remaining traitor this season? (Not this guy, I’ll tell you that much!)
When the Season 2 finale of The Traitors begins, Kate’s between murdering Shereé and Trishelle. Since Shereé is a fellow Bravolebrity, choosing her could take the heat off of Kate… and when everyone arrives to breakfast the next morning, we learn that’s exactly who our last traitor chose. However, not only does Shereé know that Kate is a traitor, but CT and Sandra are hella suspicious too. As for MJ, she thinks it’s Sandra. (Sigh.) MJ tries to sell Trishelle on her hunch, but after she talks to CT, it seems the two Challenge veterans are sticking together on this one and voting for Kate.
FINAL MISSION | The players must make their way to a ship that’s docked in the sea. They can elect to hit detours along the way to snag some extra coin, but they only have 60 minutes to get to the ship and raise the sail or they fail. They waste a lot of time at the first detour, but eventually find the flag that’s worth $5K. CT finds the second canister, only it’s padlocked and the combo is back at the start. (Hey, CT’s run loads of Challenge finals. He’s used to this.) He runs his butt off, finds the combo and scores that second $5K bonus.
Next, the players must abseil 180 feet down some “cliffs of death,” which has Kate shaking in her boots. CT and Trishelle whip down. Despite Kate’s hesitancy, she gets the job done, to her credit. With everyone at the bottom, they must follow a rope into a cave for their last $10K bump. With the clock ticking, the players hop into a dinghy, make it to the ship, raise their bonus flags, then lift the main sail — and boom! — $50,000 is added to the prize pot. The total now stands at $208,100! Not too shabby. (These ladies are lucky they kept CT around though. For real!)
ROUNDTABLE | CT kicks off the last banishment ceremony, asking Kate why she was protecting Phaedra. Kate hides behind the ol’ “we’re Bravo family” defense, while MJ brings up Sandra’s name as a potential traitor recruit. Sandra says she’s always been a faithful, and she doesn’t regret hiding behind and being protected by traitors in this game. CT says he knows Sandra is a traitor (mostly because Kate was in his ear saying so), but Sandra wants to stick to the original plan she, Trishelle and CT had.
The talk comes to a close. Kate and MJ vote for Sandra. And then shockingly: Trishelle and CT do too! Sandra stands in the Circle of Truth and says her heart is broken. When she tells them she’s a faithful, CT and Trishelle look absolutely gobsmacked. (As they should because that was a DUMB VOTE!)
FIRE OF TRUTH | In Round 1, MJ, Trishelle and CT decide to banish again, while Kate elects to end the game. As MJ mentions, since Shereé was murdered, there has to be a traitor left in the game. (Did Kate just expose herself that easily?!) Everyone writes Kate’s name down and they’re relieved when she reveals her true identity. But one question remains: Do the three remaining faithfuls actually trust each other?
In the second round, MJ votes to end the game, while Trishelle and CT want to banish again. And MJ IS SHOOK! CT says there’s only one person standing there that he trusts enough to share the gold with. When the votes come in, each player receives one vote resulting in a tie. And Trishelle was the one who voted for CT!!!
They each get a chance to plead their case, and Trishelle says that CT’s pivot from Kate to Sandra at the roundtable made her nervous. Why would he try to protect Kate like that? Trishelle also brings up how CT chose to save John over her during the torch ceremony.
The tension at this fire is thick. The players vote again. CT votes for MJ. MJ votes for Trishelle. Trishelle then votes for… MJ. MJ is banished and after revealing she’s a faithful, she mutters, “I hope that makes you guys feel great.” Ouch.
With only two players left, it’s time for them to reveal their truths. They’re both faithfuls (obviously), so CT and Trishelle become the official winners of The Traitors Season 2!
So tell me, my precious faithfuls: Were you happy with the results? Grade the finale and season below, then shout your feelings loudly in the comments section.
I enjoyed this season! But I think an excellent idea for season 3 would be that the viewers have no idea who the traiters are.
I am also going to learn how to spell traitors… whoops 😀
There’s dozens of versions of The Traitors internationally. None of them keep the traitors secret so people should give up this hope. A huge part of the show is showing the traitors’ strategy and scheming.
I’d also like for average people to be the contestants – no reality stars. Now that it’s an established show, let’s give that a shot like the UK has done.
See I feel there is actually a place to do both as is being done in the UK as they do produce different game play due to the celeb version having people who at the very least know who they each are and hence an idea of their character and how they play things, if not they already have relationships with some
I totally get that sentiment but if you do that the show is even more like The Mole which I assume they’re trying to avoid.
That would be The Mole
I told my husband I wish they had 2 versions and you could choose which one to watch. One like we got, and one where the traitors are a secret to the audience
Wow – I thought Trishelle and CT were intentionally getting rid of MJ until Trishelle’s first vote! I wasn’t mad at it either, because the girl contributed nothing all season. I actually gasped when Trishelle wrote down CT’s name! But now I feel the game is broken, because why would you ever want to share the money with 3 or four other people, if you can get it down to two? I feel like you have to go back to playing with “regular” people because all those reality stars form alliances with each too quickly with each other because they know each other
Totally agree with this! At first I thought they had privately secretly planned to get rid of MJ and end just the 2 of them. So when it became clear that Trishelle was legitimately confused, briefly, I was shocked when they essentially turned on each other for a hot second! I’m glad they figured that out! It was oddly emotional for me, for them, because I remember them on Real World and Road Rules way before The Challenge. I actually never even watched the The Challenge, but of course I understand their history. So the fact that it came down to the 2 of them I thought was so poetic and made me so happy for them! Plus because they clearly have a strong sibling type relationship. Even though at the end it seemed almost romantic. But I get it can be sibling type of strong platonic love because of their history. I did feel bad for MJ, but she also annoyed the crap out of me because there were so many times she was so sure someone was a traitor and she was dead wrong. She was an idiot. She did a horrible job sniffing out traitors. Even her reasoning that morning about Kate was so off because she wasn’t factoring reverse psychology. She annoyed me because of all that. But I liked how the cast reacted saying, it’s a game, you guys gotta let it go, lol.
I also thought Kate made major mistakes that day. To be honest, I think I expected her to screw up at some point. She did the night before when she said what she said to Phaedra. That started the process of exposing her. Really, she should have gotten rid of Trishelle, but I’m glad she didn’t. Although, I didn’t realize Sheree had her pegged! So Sheree might had helped take her down if she had stayed! CT called her out on lying at the roundtable. They all should have realized right then. That was risky of her to pull that with Sandra, and it did expose her too. But then the clincher was when she voted to stop banishing. Every single person there knew there HAD to be another traitor. Even idiot MJ knew that because Sheree was murdered and it wasn’t Sandra. So Kate exposed herself again. Unless she decided to do that anyway because she had a soft spot for them.
I thought the ending was epic!! Because it surpassed the traitors vs the faithful. I mean, I always expected the traitors to turn on each other at various points and in the end. Even though I thought it was shitty of Cirie to do that last year to Arie, I respected him for bowing out when he could have exposed her too. But I NEVER expected the faithfuls to turn on each other! I’m glad they didn’t do it intentionally, and it was really from confusion from Kate’s manipulations. Trishelle & CT’s complicated friendship made it interesting because of how they turned on each other briefly but then figured it out to win together. And it was just a perfect ending with the mother of all twists! I love that the Faithfuls won, because it’s really hard for the Faithfuls to win and it’s really hard to make it to the end. And I really love that it was CT & Trishelle.
I know I wrote a lot. I don’t have anyone to talk about it too! lol I tried to tell my daughter, but she’s watching with my mom next week, and they swore me to silence, lol
Yeah MJ was an idiot. Hundreds of things never occurred to her throughout the game. She didn’t have a relationship of any kind with her final fireside contestants, so her mouth hanging open for 7 full minutes proves the level of vapidness
Or maybe if you all vote that there’s still another traitor and there isn’t, no one wins the money.
I was thinking this too, or that a certain amount gets deducted from the prize pot if they vote out a faithful at the “fire of truth”
Kate talked all that smack about Phaedra, but made 2 bone head moves in the finale. First why would she get rid of another Bravo woman when she knew there was an MTV pair still in the game? And second, why choose to end the game when someone had been murdered, so obviously a traitor was still around?
Trishelle and CT intentionally got rid of MJ for a 2 way split.
MJ they did you wrong. Game play my azz.
Dan was pathetic with his excuses as to why he threw Phadera under a bus. Queen Phadera did not pull her punches directly telling him where to stick it.
Dan, Trishelle and CT showed their true underhanded character. HATE the player NOT the game this season.
KARMA IS JUSTICE
and when it comes around OUCH!
I thought they were intentionally getting rid of MJ at first, until Trishelle voted for CT and it became clear that she legitimately got confused when he switched to Sandra. Really, Kate manipulated and confused them all. I was disappointed in Sandra many times over the course of the entire season because she opened her big mouth when she shouldn’t have! In this episode, why would you tell Kate what CT & Trishelle said?! And then Kate turned around and lied, which became super obvious at the roundtable. CT did say, that’s not true, I didn’t say that, so he should have realized right then that Kate was playing them, and voted for her like the plan was! Because he switched to Sandra, he scared Trishelle so she didn’t know if he was lying to her or not, for a second. But I think he made it clear in the end.
I did feel really bad for MJ, but I don’t think they intentionally planned that. I wished that after the first vote when it was a tie, that they could vote again on even doing another banishment, because I think they would have changed their minds at that point.
They didn’t have to vote to do another banishment. If all three had thrown in the green thing, the game would have ended. Although I don’t think any ‘rules’ were broken and MJ certainly didn’t have a ‘right’ to win, I think CT and Trishelle knew exactly what they were doing, especially when Trishelle realized CT wasn’t a traitor (and I’m not so sure I believe she really wasn’t sure if he was or not). I feel like her voting for him that first time was a little of a way to get back at him for changing the plan at the roundtable when Sandra was banished.
They had no idea who MJ would write so the idea they planned that is wrong, CT could of gone home by that process, I think genuinely Trishelle thought he may be a traitor then felt bad. I liked MJ but let’s be honest she voted more faithfuls out than the others, even earlier that night getting rid of her friend Sandra so she’s not innocent, and really that could make CT think she was a Traitor, constantly voting with them.
Thank god that MJ and Sheree didn’t get a cent – they didn’t even know what show they were on most of the season, and made every wrong decision possible. They didn’t deserve anything. Its a frustrating part of this shows format that it rewards useless players as they are so insignificant, no one bothers to murder or banish them and they float to the end.
For the theory that those Trichelle & CT pre-planned to take the whole thing, can’t be dismissed. But what if MJ wrote CT in Round 1. Too much of a risk of plan failing, right?
Barring Peter, you couldn’t find two brain cells amongst the remaining cast of buffoons. I adore Kate but for pity sake, her blunder throwing green in the fire when everyone knew it was a Traitor and not Alan or Fergus who murdered Sheree. Everyone then has to realize the only one who isn’t nervous to throw green is the Traitor who has plans to take all the $. Don’t even get me started on how gullible they want us to be that with 18 minutes left, 5 people had the time to harness up to scale down a cliff face, then complete another detour deep in a cave, load into a dinghy to get out to a ship in the harbour, clamber aboard, raise multiple masts of flags and sails. Puh-lease!!!
I could barely stomach getting to the end of this. They can do better and I can offer suggestions of people that would make the next Traitors must watch tv
What a great show. I hope season 3 is coming soon. Satfor two days watching all the shows. Didnt know about the show, found it my mistake. Love it. So sorry to see Peter voted out!!!!
