Michael Weatherly is set to reprise his long-running NCIS role of Tony DiNozzo in an as-yet-untitled Paramount+ spinoff that follows Tony and partner Ziva David (Cote de Pablo) as they find themselves on the run in Europe. Weatherly first played “Very Special Agent” DiNozzo in the JAG two-parter that begat NCIS, and continued with the role for 13 seasons, through May 2016, at which time Tony — with newly discovered daughter Tali in tow — made tracks for Paris to find and reunite with baby momma Ziva.
Between that original NCIS run and a February 2024 cameo (where Tony showed up for the funeral of longtime colleague Dr. Donald “Ducky” Mallard, played by the late David McCallum), Weatherly headlined six seasons of the CBS legal dramedy Bull. (Bull guest star Eliza Dushku was paid by CBS a $9.5 million settlement when it appeared that her confronting Weatherly about inappropriate on-set behavior ended her path to becoming a series regular.)
Weatherly’s TV career began in earnest with the role of Cooper Alden on the ABC sudser Loving/The City. His other major TV roles have included Fox’s Significant Others (opposite Jennifer Garner), the Christina Applegate-led NBC comedy Jesse, and Fox’s Dark Angel.
