The Chi

The Chi is an hour-long drama, created by Lena Waithe, that follows a group of friends living on the South Side of Chicago. The series premiered on Jan. 7, 2018, on Showtime. The original cast included Jason Mitchell as Brandon, Ntare Mwine as Ronnie, Jacob Latimore as Emmett, Alex R. Hibbert as Kevin, Tiffany Boone as Jerrika, Yolonda Ross as Jada and Armando Riesco as Det. Cruz. Birgundi Baker (Kiesha), Shamon Brown (Papa), Michael V. Epps (Jake) and Barton Fitzpatrick (Reg) all recurred in Season 1 and were later promoted to series regular status.

The cast roster has gone through several changes over the show’s six seasons. One of the most talked-about departures came when Mitchell was fired from the series ahead of Season 3 following multiple allegations of inappropriate behavior; he denied any wrongdoing. His character was killed off at the start of the third season.

The current cast also includes Rolando Boyce as Darnell, Judae’a Brown as Jemma, Curtiss Cook as Douda, Tai Davis as Tracy, Hannaha Hall as Tiffany, Miriam A. Hyman as Dre, Luke James as Trig, Zaria Imani Primer as Lynae, Iman Shumpert as Rob and Jason Weaver as Shaad.

The Chi airs Fridays on Showtime and streams on Paramount+.
