All aboard the crazy train! Fox just dropped the first promo for Season 5 of 9-1-1: Lone Star, confirming that the show’s next explosive crisis will involve a train derailment.
The 30-second video finds the heroic members of the 126 springing into action, and as Neal McDonough’s Sgt. O’Brien is quick to remind them, “This city needs you.”
It’s been more than a year since 9-1-1: Lone Star fans have gotten their weekly fix; the fourth season ended in May 2023 but was unable to resume production due to the concurrent actors’ and writers’ strikes that temporarily ground Hollywood to a halt for several months thereafter. While the 12-episode fifth season was originally expected to premiere in Spring 2024, Fox ultimately decided to delay it until fall.
As previously reported, original cast member Sierra McClain will not be returning as Grace Ryder for Season 5, though all other previous series regulars are expected to be back. That includes Rob Lowe as Owen Strand, Ronen Rubinstein as T.K. Strand, Jim Parrack as Judd Ryder, Natacha Karam as Marjan Marwani, Brian Michael Smith as Paul Strickland, Rafael Silva as Carlos Reyes, Julian Works as Mateo Chavez, Brianna Baker as Nancy Gillian and Gina Torres as Tommy Vega.
Though Fox isn’t confirming anything as of yet, rumors continue to swirl that this could be the final season for the 9-1-1 spinoff, whose parent series relocated to ABC and was renewed for Season 8.
“Wherever the ship sails, [I’m] grateful for the family I’ve created on this show,” Silva wrote in an Instagram post last month, while Rubinstein added, “One thing I do know for certain is we will continue pouring our blood, sweat and tears into these last few episodes and deliver to you our most special season yet. I better see all of you in September.”
An exact premiere date remains TBD, but we do know that 9-1-1: Lone Star will air new episodes on Mondays at 8/7c, leading into the new Hawaii lifeguard drama Rescue: HI-Surf.
Hit PLAY on the video above for your first look at 9-1-1: Lone Star‘s (incredibly) long-awaited return, then drop a comment with your thoughts below. If this does end up being the show’s final season, what do you need to see happen?
We missed Lone Star 911 get it together Fox we’ve been waiting over a year for them to come back we missed them. true fan
I’d hate to see this be the last season already. There’s definitely more stories that can be told with this cast.
Please do everything to keep 911 lone Star going for a long time at least for a couple more seasons please if not on Fox then on ABC please do your best to keep it going
How will they explain Grace being absent
They better not break up her and Judd. That would be so wrong on so many levels.
If she’s not there anymore, how can their relationship continue? Long-distance? May be more absurd than the disasters on this and the main show.
Same way I proposed Conrad and Nic could have stay together on the resident. Don’t break them up, don’t kill her off, just have her be a home or work and Judd can just talk about her with the team and we just don’t see her on screen. but they STAY TOGETHER!
I want Carlos and TK to have kids
And also Owen to marry the beautiful Harrington
When you have a Nepo Baby writing the show that’s killed off half of the cast, anything is possible. I’ve lost count. Lone Star takes itself way too seriously. It has always lacked the charm and tongue in cheek humor of 911.
One thing I know for certain, wherever Lowe lands next, his entitled overrated son will be right behind him. Imagine the team of talented writers with long resumes that are forced to work under him? How degrading. Turning in story ideas and scripts week after week, only for baby Lowe to get take the credit and 10x the pay.
I wonder who he plans to kill off next?’
She is somewhere for training or higher education since Judd is retired to take care of his son.
Can you go abc like the 911 did that show 911 lonestar is a great show we would really miss it.
Why are all the true to life shows being axed, while 90 Day Fiance (and it’s spin-offs) and Unexpected continuing? Shows like Lone Star should be kept and axe those mentioned above. I swear most of those shows are scripted and fake. I know these writers and producers can do better.
Reality is much cheaper to produce than scripted, so their ratings don’t need to be as big for a network vs scripted to pay off
Fox doesn’t own the back end of it anymore since Fox Studios (20th Century Fox) is now owned by Disney.
As I have said so many times, it is better to be a creator of content, than one that airs, but doesn’t own the content. Much like it is much better to be a music writer than a singer. The music writer gets paid for all of the people that sings their music. The music singer only gets paid if that singer sings the music.
Can’t wait!!! I love 911 Lonestar!! And all the cast I have been waiting so long for it to return! I hope this won’t be the final series One of the best shows ever on TV! Absolutely love Rob Lowe! Have since I was young!
I just can’t understand why all of the good shows are being canceled. There have been about eight shows that I watch every week that have been canceled and some are only in their third or fourth season. I want to ask the networks a question: why should we get invested in any of the shows that you put out? We get invested in them and then you cancel them. I’m really upset about this, they say they’re taking them off to make room for new ones but what if we don’t want new ones, what if we want the ones that we’ve been watching? I’m just very dissatisfied with a lot of the channels this year! The writers and are executives need to do better and quit putting on so many scripted shows, reality shows. This is just my opinion but I’m sure I’m not the only one that feels like this.
And a lot of their “new” shows are just crap.not worth my time watching. It not even worth turning on the TV any more with all the junk they have. Then when there is a good show they cancel it. Just plain stupid.
Not a huge fan of this show since, to me, it’s a pale shadow to the mothership 9-1-1 now on ABC.
Unlike that show, Lone Star focuses too much on Strand (Lowe) and the other first responders and very little on Grace, the only 9-1-1 operator.
But the character of Grace never really bloomed on this show.
Think about how often Maddie on 9-1-1 played a pivotal role in guiding/helping the on-scene first responders.
But on Line Star? Not so much. At least not lately.
I appreciated the chemistry between Grace and Judd. And I think they could’ve been the real “heart” of Lone Star, much like Bobby and Athena are for 9-1-1.
At the very least, the Ryders had the opportunity to be the equivalent of Maddie and Chimney. And it had looked like that was where Lone Star was going, given last season’s stories about the Ryders’ family life.
But for some reason, the show’s not going that route. And it sounds like it’s just going to become a show about (sometimes absurd) emergencies/rescues and Strand (and his company of brave heroes) saving the day.
I’ll watch Lone Star –mainly because I like Parrack, Gina Torres, and Neal McDonough as actors and what their characters being to the show’s stories. (The others? Not so much)
But it’s become much less of “must see TV” with the loss of Ms.McClain’s Grace character. (And how the show explains away her absence and missing interaction with Judd’s life… Well, that will confirm whether or not this show has “jumped the shark” and if Season 5 is indeed it’s last.)
Because Fox couldn’t get the show’s 5th season on the air this past Spring, 9-1-1: Lonestar is deserving of a final full 6th season.
I hope that they don’t cancel this show. And what I don’t understand why is they keeping this on Fox. And not the original show make that make sense please thanks.
I love lone star I am so proud it is returning
Please don’t discontinue this series, it’s one of the best on TV.
Why are you canceling all the good shows & putting a bunch of crappie shows on that are not worth watching.
There are way too many game shows , reality shows, get rid of some of those instead of shows like Blue Bloods, NCIS, 911 & 911 lonestar, Magnum etc.
I hope it is not the end I really love this show
Why do they keep canceling good shows? Just move it to abc. Not sure what it will be like without Grace.
When in the uk???
TVLine forgot to share that Brian Michael Smith shared a “Save Lonestar” petition from change.org and Natacha Karam posted about the final days on set.
Fox has said they refuse to make a call until after the show starts airing in the fall but the actors are free to look for new work starting July 19. It’s not fair to ask them to just sit around hoping Fox will renew, especially since the reason Sierra McClain left is stated to be “conflicts during contract negotiations”. No way ABC will pick up a very expensive show with a cast that is almost certainly going to disband, with lower ratings, that they can’t even begin to make negotiations over until well into the fall. It would be an incredibly foolish business decision.
Can’t wait till fall. Missed seeing my favorite this year. Hope it won’t be the last season
I want Carlos and TK to have kids
And also Owen to marry the beautiful Harrington
I love this show I would be very sad to see it end I look forward to it every season
911 Lone star is one of the best shows on TV. One both my husband and I will sit together and watch. Hope they continue it for a good long time to come.
I love the show and his such a cliffhanger and makes you right there in their drama like you’re really with the crew and the actors I love this and I can never get enough of it please do not let this be the last season.
Given that Grace is the 9-1-1 dispatcher. I don’t see how they can just mention her. Grace also makes Judd more tolerable.
Love this show!!!!! Please dont cancel. So much better than 911….tried to get into that one, not even in the same league, boring to me. But I love LS911. Love the characters. As someone else said, since they had such a delayed season 5 and no time to plan for a final season, they at least deserve season 6 to wrap it all up. Hopefully FOX will realize this is a strong show for the network and shouldn’t be replaced by another damn game show or reality TV crap!!! If not, hopefully someone else will pick them up and give them many more years to shine!!
Whow are they getting rid of grace. She’s been an important cast member.
