Big news, Clone Club: The full trailer for Orphan Black: Echoes is finally here!
The spinoff (which hits AMC, AMC+ and BBC America Sunday, June 23) is set in the near future and takes place in the Orphan Black universe. It will “take a deep dive into the exploration of the scientific manipulation of human existence,” according to its official description, as it “follows a group of women as they weave their way into each other’s lives and embark on a thrilling journey, unravelling the mystery of their identity and uncovering a wrenching story of love and betrayal. Krysten Ritter (Jessica Jones) plays Lucy, a woman with an unimaginable origin story, trying to find her place in the world.”
In the new trailer (watch it embedded above), Lucy is on the run from a group of very dangerous people all while trying to figure out her true identity. Kira (Sarah’s daughter), now a doctor and scientist, factors into the new story somehow and if you pause at 1:23, you can see photos of Mrs. S, Felix and Tatiana Maslany’s Cosima and Sarah. The clip also features gunfire, explosions and a brand-new conspiracy for us to sink out teeth into. But what does it all have to do with clones?
Additional cast members include Keeley Hawes (It’s A Sin), Amanda Fix (High School), Avan Jogia (Now Apocalypse), Rya Kihlstedt (A Teacher) and James Hiroyuki Liao (Barry).
Series creator Anna Fishko serves as showrunner, executive-producing alongside Ritter, David Fortier, Ivan Schneeberg, Nick Nantell, Kerry Appleyard, Katie O’Connell Marsh and original Orphan Black creator John Fawcett.
The original Orphan Black, which aired for five seasons (2013–2017) starred Maslany in multiple roles. She won an Emmy Award for Best Actress in a Drama Series in 2016, and received two additional nominations throughout the show’s run. She and her co-stars reprised their roles for a 2019 audio series titled Orphan Black: The Next Chapter.

What took so long? This premiered in Australia in November.
Do we know why it as already aired in Spain?
Having seen it – I can say it is a fantastic spin on the original with great throwbacks. Really hope there is a season 2. In some ways I enjoyed the more straightforward antagonist compared to OB. Let’s hope everyone watches and it gets a season 2.
i’m so confused why this took so long to air here and has aired in other countries. love krysten and the original so will definitely watch – just wish we didn’t have to wait so long!
I enjoyed this more than most TV series I have seen in quite a while. Great follow on from the original with some nice little cameos to boot.
I was a devoted fan of the original Orphan Black, but will likely sit Echoes out since it was apparently a one season and done show.
I don’t see why that should be a deal-breaker. There are *tons* of high-quality miniseries out there!
Weird this is airing now in the US (UK?) as it’s been out in Australia for months… No spoilers but having watched it, I doubt there will be more seasons and probably deservedly so… I was a huge fan of Orphan Black but Echoes is sadly not as good even though Ritter is excellent and the initial concept is compelling. Unfortunately the writing isn’t great and it’s hard to stay interested. The other actors are ok but the material they’re given is pretty hopeless so the second half of the season gets repetitive and often hard to believe.
“completely unique copy of the original” That’s very clever! :)
It’s already been online for like 9 months. I’m waiting for the actual premiere to watch it, but how disappointing for it to air over seas well in advance of North America. this will for sure hurt the numbers.
If I remember correctly didn’t Kira have some precognitive powers developing?
