In alignment with our ESG & Project Humanity mission of environment and biodiversity, Acer employees initiated a seed planting event at the Irvine Ranch Conservancy Native Seed Farm. The Conservancy urgently needed rehabilitation in numerous areas throughout the parks and other reserves. During the event, our employees harvested seeds while learning about other regional programs currently in cooperation with the Irvine Ranch Conservancy Native Seed Farm, understanding the biodiversity issue in a deeper level. Currently, 76% of our critical suppliers have committed to RE100 or science-based targets (SBTs), and 95% of our tier-one suppliers have integrated climate issues at the board level. GreenEarth Heritage Foundation is an organization committed to environmental conservation, sustainable agriculture, and community development. Their vision of a greener future and dedication to education align closely with Acer's Project Humanity. Since 2011, Acer Philippines has proudly supported GreenEarth's initiatives. Our contributions encompass both environmental and educational efforts, including funding the planting of thousands of trees, the creation of the first bamboo greenhouse, and more. In addition, Acer has donated laptops and technology devices to GreenEarth’s Library and Learning Center, enhancing educational opportunities and access to advanced learning tools. Among the students was Romnick, who stood out for his diligence in learning and later received a full scholarship to Harvard University. Acer is collaborating with Plastic Bank to support the collection and recycling of 2.5 million plastic bottles! You may wonder, where do the bottles go? The plastic gathered by Plastic Bank’s collection communities is cleaned, de-labaeled and sorted before being sent to local processing partners. There it is processed into post-consumer recycled (PCR) plastic feedstock for reintegration in new products and packaging, reducing the need for virgin plastic. Beyond our efforts with Plastic Bank, Acer used post-consumer recycled plastics (PCR) to manufacture more than 40 million products from 2020 to 2023. This year, we increased PCR usage to 60% in the Aspire Vero laptop while still meeting our strict quality requirements.
