  • At TABF, we remain steadfast in promoting the financial well-being of Taiwanese citizens through our biennial Taiwan Financial Lives Survey. This year, in collaboration with Shih Hsin University’s Institute for Knowledge Economy Development, Department of Finance, and Department of Social Psychology, we conducted an in-depth analysis of financial literacy, fraud awareness, and financial health across Taiwan.   Key 2024 Insights: • Fraud Awareness Strengthens: 65.72% of respondents feel confident in identifying and rejecting financial scams. • Rising Borrowing Needs: Homebuying and investment opportunities raised borrowing rates to 56.3%. • Improved Financial Health: Financially vulnerable groups decreased to 3.5%, reflecting a healthier financial landscape.   Our study also sheds light on critical behavioral and psychological traits among vulnerable groups, such as: • Gaps in emergency fund planning. • Overreliance on biased information sources. • Overconfidence paired with distrust in formal financial systems.   These findings emphasize the ongoing need for enhanced financial education and institutional support to build resilience and trust.   🌟 Dive deeper into the full report here: [https://lnkd.in/d-4Z2eV7]     #TaiwanFinancialLifeSurvey #FinancialInclusion #FinancialResilience #FinancialEducation #TABF

  • TABF’s Taiwan Financial Lives Survey 2024 has introduced focus group interviews for the first time. Although the overall proportion of those who believe they are financially healthy trended upward, interviewees mentioned several maladaptive behaviors, including chasing quick returns, using credit cards to earn points, difficulty understanding one’s finances, insufficient insurance planning, and overreliance on borrowing. • TABF was privileged to join the 21st APABI Biennial Program in Mumbai, hosted by the Indian Institute of Banking & Finance (IIBF) from November 13 to 15, 2024. As a founding member and the APABI Secretariat, it was a meaningful opportunity for us to connect with esteemed members from 12 countries and exchange insights on advancing the banking industry. We are deeply thankful to IIBF for their warm hospitality and thoughtful organization, which made this event so impactful. During the program, TABF shared key updates on our progress in financial training development and contributed to discussions at the APABI Conference, themed "Paradigm Shift in Banking – Moving Towards a Resilient, Inclusive, and Sustainable Model." We were also honored to have our article, “Taiwan's Response to Increasingly Sophisticated Fraud Models with Financial Education,” featured in the special edition of Bank Quest, published for this program. You can read the article here: Bank Quest, October-December 2024. As the APABI Secretariat, we are sincerely grateful for the continued support from all member countries, especially for initiatives like the APABI Focus Quarterly Newsletter. Together, we remain committed to fostering a stronger, more inclusive, and sustainable banking future.
