This MASSIVE machine has helped INCREASE production by OVER 50% at Votaw Precision Technologies!
Votaw Precision Technologies, based in Santa Fe Springs, California, has been a cornerstone in the aerospace manufacturing industry since its inception on April 1, 1963. Founded by Walt and Maxine Votaw with a modest team of three employees, the company initially undertook projects for clients like ITT Cannon. By 1984, Votaw had expanded to 150 employees and gained national recognition for its expertise in producing precision components, fixtures, tools, ground support equipment, and pressure vessels for both aerospace and commercial sectors.
Throughout its history, Votaw has contributed to significant national projects, including the fabrication of wrap mandrels for Space Shuttle Solid Rocket Boosters (SRBs), pusher sleds for test rockets, fuel handling containers, large mandrels, and a multi-mirror telescope for the Smithsonian Institute.
A testament to Votaw’s commitment to quality and excellence is its receipt of NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration’s prestigious Silver Snoopy Award. This honor is awarded to employees and contractors for outstanding achievements related to human flight safety or mission success. The award, presented personally by NASA astronauts, signifies the astronauts’ recognition of an individual’s or company’s exceptional contributions to spaceflight safety and mission success.
In its pursuit of maintaining high standards and enhancing production capabilities, Votaw recently invested in a TRIMILL, a.s. machine, built in the Czech Republic and supplied by the YCM Alliance. The TRIMILL VM Series is renowned for its precision, rigidity, and accuracy, featuring a box-in-box gantry design and polymer concrete side walls that ensure high accuracy and repeatability. It also offers an auto-head change feature, allowing up to 13 different milling heads for versatile 5-axis machining.
This strategic investment has enabled Votaw to reduce production times by more than 50%. The TRIMILL’s advanced capabilities have streamlined both roughing and finishing processes into a single setup, significantly enhancing efficiency. Its reliability and performance have made it the most desired machine in Votaw’s shop, highlighting the company’s dedication to integrating cutting-edge technology to meet the exacting demands of the aerospace industry.
Votaw’s unwavering focus on quality, precision, and innovation continues to solidify its reputation as a leader in aerospace manufacturing, consistently delivering products that meet the rigorous standards of its clients and contribute to the success of critical space missions.
