We stayed at Sand Dunes Chaolao Beach Resort for a long, 3-night weekend away. The grounds are well taken care of. The main pool is a nice size and is situated right above the entryway to the private beachfront. The beachfront is very well-groomed. We walked a bit to the north to have a meal at one of the nearby beachfront seafood restaurants and no other resort came anywhere near to the cleanliness as the Sand Dunes. Because they are the last resort heading south toward the fishing pier, there is almost no added transient traffic, either. Very restful. We were in a superior room with a sea view. There was a small but pleasant balcony. 2 chairs would be nicer but you can always take the desk chair outside, too. The room itself is a reasonable size and the bath area is set aside almost as if in a separate room area. The lighting at the sink area was great and they actually have electric outlets there, too (both things pretty rare in Thailand). Small lights on motion sensors make it safe and easy to find the bathroom overnight without disturbing others. They provide a kettle and tea/coffee packets daily along with the usual 2 bottles of drinking water and 2 more daily for coffee/tea or to drink. This is also unusually accommodating. The wifi was generally decent but it does go out from time to time if there are electric issues. They had some storms that weekend, so were on the backup generator on and off one day but it's generally fine otherwise. The onsite restaurant is just ok. It's fine for a meal or two but it's advised to get out and explore for fresh seafood restaurants along the beach. There are several within walking distance and many more if you choose to drive. The breakfast buffet was above average with all of the usual eggs, meats, cereals, fruits, salads, juices. Their offerings of breads was above average. They have an espresso machine, so you can enjoy a decent cup of that or Americano with your meal. They offer half a dozen or so Thai dishes and about that many western/euro dishes as well, and we didn't see much in the way of repetition at all with those Thai & Western offerings across our 3 mornings there. Very thoughtfully done. (The western offerings tend to be more lunch or supper fare, but why not?) Staff were all very pleasant. We did not have any negative experiences to speak of and will be happy to stay at the Sand Dunes again.

Il n'y a pas de points négatifs. L'accueil est chaleureux et on vous reçoit avec une boisson de bien venue. Les prix sont tout à fait correct et pas exagérés. Nous ne pouvons que vous recommander cet établissement

We stopped here for one night with a group of friends on the way to one of the local islands. On the positive side, service was excellent. There is lots of parking. The resort has a very large pool and fitness center. The gardens are beautiful. The decor is of an older, classic style but the property is clean and nicely maintained. They have some special function rooms for large gatherings but we did not see inside them. Our standard room was spacious and clean with a wood floor and a lovely large balcony overlooking the gardens. A large couch and coffee table faced the TV, and there was a work desk and lounging chair situated near the balcony sliding doors. The king bed mattrass was hard as is the rule in Asia. There was an in-room coffee-maker and fridge. Air con worked well and there was an extra large portable floor fan which was handy so that you did not need to have air con on alll the time. Bathroom was quite small but the shower was spacious and had great pressure. Our dinner experience in the in-house restaurant was excellent - menu is extensive, food was delivered quickly and it was very tasty. I appreciated the great vegetarian menu and found the noodle wrapped herb rolls with green sauce particularly tasty. There was a large bar separate from the restaurant but we did not try it. On the negative side, internet was extremely slow and spotty - which made staying in touch with work difficult for us. There was no safe in the room. There are no elevators and this makes it a challenge to get to your room if you are on the second or third floor. Thankfully it was not very busy and the bell staff took care of moving our luggage to the room quickly. In general there are a lot of stairs to navigate so if one is older or has limited mobility this can be a problem. Breakfast was free but it was cold and unappetizing. This could have been due to a power outage that hit the area due a bad thunderstorm, but still, they should not be serving cold food that should be hot. All in all it was still a pleasant stay. But the internet was the dealbreaker for us - if they fix it, we would consider staying here again.

We decided to check out the coastal city of Chanthaburi and booked 5 nights at Baan Rim Ao. What a gorgeous location. The hotel is modern and very well appointed. Our room had a big balcony with a great view. The pool facilities were outstanding. Our stay was peaceful and relaxing. It's difficult to get a Grab vehicle and the cost of a ride into town is 250thb. Once in town it is very easy to get a Grab vehicle. Additionally, be sure to have a good translating app and the staff speaks very little English. However, you will find the staff to be warm and friendly. We loved our stay and at approximately 70CAD per night we thought it was great value for the amenities we enjoyed. We would definitely book again.

Seit vielen Jahren kommen wir immer zum Abschluss unserer 3 monatigen Thailandrundreise gerne in dieses Hotel das sehr ruhig am Fluss liegt. Die Zimmer sind komfortabel und sauber, das Frühstück ist überwiegend auf Thais ausgerichtet aber dafür ist man ja in Thailand und nicht in Europa. Das einzig Negative sind die kalten Eier, auch die vorbereiteten Speisen sind nicht warm aber gut. Leider hapert es im Restaurant mit den Englischkenntnissen da einfach nicht verstanden wird dass man das frisch gemachte Spiegelei nicht auf beiden Seiten gebraten haben will, aber das war fast in jedem Hotel abseits der Touristengebiete der Fall. Wir verstehen einfach nicht warum die jungen Menschen kein Wort Englisch sprechen wenn es angeblich in den Schulen gelernt wird.

臥室很寬敞。電源插座很多,可能是牀頭,電視下面的櫃檯。 浴室寬敞,乾淨,水強,分爲幹區,溼區,好,放東西的空間。 早餐有很多選擇,很好吃,尤其是李子面。不要錯過😆😆😆 點菜晚餐應該提前點,好吃,量大,價格可能比外面貴。 游泳池,風景不錯,早上天氣很好,出來玩水很涼快。

We stopped here for one night with a group of friends on the way to one of the local islands. On the positive side, service was excellent. There is lots of parking. The resort has a very large pool and fitness center. The gardens are beautiful. The decor is of an older, classic style but the property is clean and nicely maintained. They have some special function rooms for large gatherings but we did not see inside them. Our standard room was spacious and clean with a wood floor and a lovely large balcony overlooking the gardens. A large couch and coffee table faced the TV, and there was a work desk and lounging chair situated near the balcony sliding doors. The king bed mattrass was hard as is the rule in Asia. There was an in-room coffee-maker and fridge. Air con worked well and there was an extra large portable floor fan which was handy so that you did not need to have air con on alll the time. Bathroom was quite small but the shower was spacious and had great pressure. Our dinner experience in the in-house restaurant was excellent - menu is extensive, food was delivered quickly and it was very tasty. I appreciated the great vegetarian menu and found the noodle wrapped herb rolls with green sauce particularly tasty. There was a large bar separate from the restaurant but we did not try it. On the negative side, internet was extremely slow and spotty - which made staying in touch with work difficult for us. There was no safe in the room. There are no elevators and this makes it a challenge to get to your room if you are on the second or third floor. Thankfully it was not very busy and the bell staff took care of moving our luggage to the room quickly. In general there are a lot of stairs to navigate so if one is older or has limited mobility this can be a problem. Breakfast was free but it was cold and unappetizing. If you want a Holiday Inn experience, this hotel may not work! If you want a traditional Thailand experience, this is the best place. The rooms are air-conditioned, beds are made every day, pillows are great, washroom and shower are outside but privately enclosed. It's very important to have shaded areas to recline and enjoy the ocean view. Many hotels lack shade, but Chivaree is great. The pool is ocean front, the beach is beyond excellent. Restaurant has the best cook on Chao Lao. Breakfasts are excellent but don't expect European sausages! Staff are kind and very accommodating. I will only stay at Chivaree and return yearly, sometimes for a month or more.
