Ellerman House is perfect. I could end my review there, but some memories that we’ll talk about forever: how we wanted our house to be as well designed as the public areas and our guest room, enjoying sundowners with the most beautiful view of the African sunset, to Zolani’s enthusiasm and experience behind the daily gin and tonic cart, to Michelle’s warmest of welcomes, to the complimentary (and dangerous!) butlers pantry, to the smiles and acknowledgements from every team member we encountered…could go on and on. Thank you to the entire team for such a memorable experience.

Where do we even begin? Ellerman House was our last stop on our honeymoon, and we looked into changing our flights to stay another night within minutes of arriving. Prince met us at the door, gave us a tour of the stunning property, and showed us to a beautiful suite that they upgraded us to to celebrate the occasion. After two weeks of exploring South Africa, 24 hours to cozy up at Ellerman House was such a treat. From the art, to the views, to the food and wine (dinner at the restaurant is a must), everything was phenomenal - but nothing beats the staff. Someone is always waiting to bring you just exactly what you need, whether it’s a blanket on the patio or some canapés while you enjoy a cocktail in the bar. And don’t miss a trip to the spa! We planned to just check out and enjoy the property before our late flight, but the staff gave us a complementary room to call home for a few hours so we could freshen up before our long trip home. Just unmatched hospitality. This place is a love letter to South Africa and we can’t wait to come back!

È stata la prima tappa del nostro viaggio di nozze. La locaction è mozzafiato, con vista oceano e tramonto. L’interno è curato nel minimo dettaglio e ricco di arte (c’è addirittura una galleria d’arte dentro l’hotel). Price ci ha fatti sentire a casa, tutto il personale è stato gentilissimo e disponibile. Cucina e ristorante top. Cantina pazzesca. Camere pulite, curate e con un letto enorme. Le camere venivano sistemate spesso e ogni volta ci lasciavano un piccolo pensierino che ci faceva sentire coccolati (ciabatte per la notte, un cioccolatino, ecc). Ci ritorneremo sicuramente e lo consigliamo altamente.

If you are ever on a very special occasion, and you want to stay for a honeymoon or a special anniversary ask for the Ellerman suite in the Ellerman Hotel. It is above expectations. The whole hotel is exquisite on the toptop of a high hill overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. The service and food is five star+.

Everything was perfect. Beautiful hotel, rooms and gardens. Exceptional staff, could not fault a single thing. Very well located, and 24hr security at main entrance. Food was beautiful, the decor of the rooms and communal areas were gorgeous and the extensive art collection was exceptional, and they offer art tours which I would definitely recommend! Everything was 10/10, only wish we could have stayed longer !

I don’t typically write reviews but wanted to post one for Ellerman house (they did not ask for one). This was our second stay at Ellerman (previously March 2019). This is probably the best managed boutique property in the world. The place itself is one of a kind with a world class art collection to be enjoyed. Rooms and property are in excellent condition having been recently retouched in April 2024. The staff is the most attentive and friendly group in the world. They are creative and have extremely high standards. The service is more attentive than the Ritz in Paris and the friendliness makes the house feel more like staying at a wealthy friend’s home with some very generous hosts than a hotel. The food is delicious. The staff will organize bespoke tours around Cape Town if you speak with them. We are already planning our next trip.

The Ellerman house is a unique gem based in Bantry Bay. Offering spectacular views and scenic garden space. The rooms are absolutely breathtaking. I truly had such a delightful and fulling time at this establishment. What a wonderful place to be

Having stayed at Ellerman House at least once a year from 2006 to 2018 inclusive, we were confident in again choosing this boutique hotel when we needed a three-day venue in Cape Town. Unfortunately, in the intervening period, this hotel has gone downhill badly and appears to lack competent management. The physical Ellerman House property remains beautiful on the outside but the interior décor has been dumbed-down and presents seamlessly with a dumbed-down approach to guests. Most of the staff appear to be doing their best but they appear to lack training, tact and mutual cohesion. A once “guest-centric” Ellerman House that had physical and metaphorical colour and vibrancy, has lost its soul and now presents as “business-centric”. One can't escape the notion that the hotel is being run by accountants rather than hospitality professionals, as it had been in the past. To our dismay, our stay was capped off by an encounter with a large cockroach that was making its way from the pantry to the kitchen as we were returning to our room after dinner. I hasten to add that this was the only concern regarding hygiene during our stay but it was, nevertheless, a real shock observation at such a supposedly prestigious address. Despite its pretentions, Ellerman House is no longer close to the epicentre of top-notch Five Star hospitality in CapeTown. The crown for boutique perfection is now worn by The Silo hotel and the crown for old-fashioned traditional ambiance still sits with the Mount Nelson Hotel.

What an incredible place and stay! We stayed here for two nights on our honeymoon, and we were blown away. Really one of the most beautiful and tranquil places we've ever stayed. It feels like staying in the most gorgeously designed mansion, and the staff were wonderful and personal. We were lucky to get upgraded to an even more amazing room than we booked, and it was such a treat. We had a lovely dinner on the property, and we also had amazing massages in the spa - highly recommend

What an unusual and classic spot to stay. From the time you arrive you feel like a guest in some extravagant home. We have stayed in some fantastic properties and this is definitely a top 2-3. We had room 11 which is fantastic. You feel like your right at home, large living area, and a large bedroom. The owner has one of the largest African art collections in the world and most are on display in the rooms, common areas and art gallery. If you or your spouse are into art the complimentary tour is a must. Staff is top notch, food is very good, and the 11 room quaint hotel is very cozy. There is a fantastic wine room/cellar defiantly worth a visit. On top of that the Telegraph just rated them #3 hotel in the world and I would agree. It’s a must stay if in Cape Town.

The place was very nice and the hospitality was good even their service was very good and excellent .and the staff was checking us now end then when we need some thing they where there even if we talk to them they help is and their friendly can't wait to go again

I went there alone looking for a place to give me peace of mind and I got it I loved it. Everything they do it's a safe place to away from anyone and any trouble the security is tight the food mmmhhhhh I am still looking forward to have another time and be there

The rooms are spacious and clean,im satisfied .The reception is friendly also is the stuff.everyone was welcoming and had such beautiful smiles.The lovely stuff has led to us enjoying more of place.The place is beautiful and out of this world,the food is great too

From the moment you are greeted at the front door the anticipation of something special is already tangible! The property is beautiful, elegant and comfortably sophisticated. The staff are reserved yet feel part of the family always a fine balance to achieve. The downside I only stayed two nights! My plan is to return in 2025 for several days to experience this very special property. A heartfelt thank you to the team. See you soon…
