Booked this hotel as we was going to the take that concert at city ground, it's very close to the city center with all the pubs and clubs in walking distance and even closer to Nottingham castle and ye old trip to Jerusalem bar which is a must visit very quirky. The staff are very friendly and polite and the hotel is very clean with all the amenities you would need for a break away. The hotel is in walking distance to the station but also has parking outside the hotel but is limited but the us a multi storey next door. We will definitely be using this hotel again next time we visit
Love love loved this stay! Stayed here on our wedding night and could not fault it. The location was perfect (especially as we were celebrating at pitcher and piano). There’s also plenty of parking options near by that a reasonably priced. the bed was so so comfy and the place was so clean. The owner was so responsive and helped with any issues we had immediately.
Before writing this review, it is only fair to acknowledge that Colwick Hall did refund the cost of one night of our stay in recognition of the issues we identified to them at the time. We stayed here for two nights for a family wedding in September and dined in the restaurant on the first night. Room Our room was a Deluxe room and was of a reasonable size with a good-sized bathroom; however, it was lacking in some areas and there were some issues. The wardrobe was not overly large, meaning that it was not suitable for hanging my wife’s dresses, meaning that they had to be hung from the door frame of the bathroom. On the first evening, we found that one of the hand basins had a constant drip, which disturbed our sleep. Due to the lack of hanging space, we were unable to close the bathroom door, so eventually had to resort to placing a towel in the basin to stop the noise from the drip. On the second night, it rained heavily, and we were awoken at 5.00 as the roof was leaking and water was running along one of the beams and dripping onto the floor. We contacted reception and they provided champagne buckets to catch the drips and advised that another room had experienced a similar issue. As the other room was part of the wedding party, we were aware that it was on the other side of the hotel; therefore, we think it is unlikely that the roof became leaky in two different parts of the hotel on the same night and at least one of the leaks must have been already known. The finish and cleanliness of the room was lacking in parts. As well as the previously mentioned wardrobe, a full-length mirror had been fixed to the wall in a position that made it largely unusable. The room also appeared to have been redecorated without the furniture and fixings not been moved/removed as there was paint spattered on surfaces, including the television. The bed, while comfortable, had hairs and stains on the bedding, leading to us requesting that it be changed. In the bathroom, as well as the leaking tap, the toilet seat was stained and ill fitting. There was also a random selection of toiletries with two shower gels and shampoo, but no conditioner. Restaurant We ate in Byron’s Bistro on the first night of the stay, where they offer 2 courses for £35 or 3 courses for £40. We felt, based on what we ordered and ate, that this was overpriced. The vegetarian options were limited and the main course, Mediterranean vegetables with crushed new potatoes and a sauce, was disappointing as it consisted heavily of red onion. The other members of our party all had steaks, which were reasonable, while the desserts were OK, but nothing out of the ordinary. We also had breakfast in Byron’s Bistro on both mornings of our stay. There was a fair selection of hot and cold items to choose from; however, the coffee was not palatable at all. Wedding Venue Colwick Hall is a lovely setting and has a lot of potential as a wedding venue. Our experience as wedding guests, however, was tha
Just needed to put my head down for the night. Reception was friendly..I arrived late at 2340..friendly night guy..room was adequate for my needs..Room 9 cold tap handle was missing, but a shsve was possible and teeth with warm water..mattress protector needs a boil wash and new carpet would freshen things. Shower was luke warm but manageable..heating was fine..tv ok..1 night fine;)
訪訪客用戶What a find ! I was looking for somewhere handy for some work I had locally and found this great little place. Perry and Paul (hope I got your names right !) are so friendly and helpful. I was told 5pm for check in but they were so accommodating when I asked if I could check in earlier. The room was clean and had all the mod cons I needed - including strong wi-fi for my work. I was leaving before breakfast (starts at 0730), but Perry couldn't do enough for me and she rustled up a lovely bacon sarnie for me to take away in the morning. I'll definitely be back when work brings me to the area again.
訪訪客I stayed here on a visit to the city. Excellent value, friendly helpful staff, clean, comfortable and very conveniently placed for both city centre and the railway station. Would recommend and will definitely stay here when next in Nottingham.
From arrival outside and in the foyer and bar area it appears a rather grand house. On moving to the bedrooms it all goes downhill- whilst note filthy they aren't particularly clean. Everything is well past it's sell by date with wallpaper hanging off the ceiling and a wall mounted 1950's hairdryer in the bathroom- the shower (over the bath) was just ok- the shower head needed to be held whilst using as it just sprayed downwards. The heating (lack of it) was awful and because we arrived back on the early hours from a wedding nearby it would have been time consuming to get it sorted. Breakfast was an extra and at £11.95 was overpriced for what was on offer and wanting a nice coffee we had to pay extra for this. The dining area was noticeably dated also. The staff though were generally superb so that was the positive from our stay. The hotel could be great but because of the lack of attention obviously over a number of years it is desperate for a complete overhaul.
DDixie TWe stayed in the hotel over the weekend (Fri, Sat & Sunday) as we were attending ”The Gloworm Festival” with other family members who were glamping. The room was small, but was perfect for our activity which was get up, get ready, and go out to the festival! We slept like logs as the beds were nice and comfy. Using the bedroom as a base to be located in and to safely store our belongings was perfect. The TV in our room was the size of a postage stamp but who cares, we were at the festival. It fit the bill for our needs so we give it a thumbs up. On leaving we spent a few minutes chatting to a lovely staff member who brought some festive cheer to my mood (I am sorry I did not catch the gent's name but we will call him ”Santa Klaus” for those who know! But what a lovely man to have at the reception desk. Was it the best hotel I have visited, no. Was it the worst, no. But for our weekend it did all we asked for and for all that was needed. A safe warm place to sleep with safe parking and nice staff.
