What a find! The hotel is beautiful and in a fantastic location for exploring Bratislava. The staff are some of the friendliest and most helpful I've found anywhere and couldn't do more to make our stay enjoyable. Breakfast was varied and plentiful with something to suit everyone. Our room was spacious and comfortable with the only downside being that it wasn't air-conditioned and consequently was overly warm for our liking but this was a minor negative. Overall we and our friends had a lovely time here and this hotel would be our first choice if visiting Bratislava again
We booked for one night to celebrate our wedding anniversary while on a longer trip to Vienna. We were very pleased on check in when we were told that we had been upgraded to a superior room free of charge, with access to the rooftop lounge. The rooftop lounge was fantastic - complimentary alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks and small snacks, plus a coffee machine. The terrace was a beautiful place to sit and enjoy a sunny afternoon with a few drinks, and this was the highlight of our stay. However, the room lacked any kind of AC. We enquired about it at reception after thinking we had programmed it wrong, but we were told by two separate staff that it just doesn’t work in the way AC should, and that they knew it was an issue on the 6th floor. There were no other superior rooms available for the night we were staying, and so if we wanted to change to another room we would have to downgrade (and lose access to the lounge), so we decided to put up with it. (Bear in mind, the daily temperatures during our stay were around 30 Celsius). The night was very uncomfortable as a result - we had to sleep with the terrace door open which was a) a security risk, and b) noisy from the passing traffic. It cooled the room down enough to sleep, but it wasn’t an enjoyable sleep. We made use of the gym in the morning and again - no AC! The door was wide open and this barely made any difference. Breakfast was fantastic - plenty of choice of hot and cold buffet food, juices, teas and coffees and even sparkling wine. We throughly enjoyed it and it bookended an otherwise slightly disappointing experience with the room. I would recommend this hotel based on the location, service, the use of the lounge, and breakfast - but I would suggest that the hotel upgrades its AC system, or at least invests in some fans that could be given to guests during hot weather.
A staff will reach out to you the day before check in and provide you details. You will collect the apartment keys from the keybox at the apartment building. It was a little confusing to find the correct apartment building as there were 2 side by side. Apartment was small but cozy and sufficiently comfortable. My apartment was on the 2nd floor and you could hear some commotion from the streets but it was still manageable.
I’ll be honest from the off. I wouldn’t class myself as a hotel snob, but I do have some standards, and after having a couple of questionable recent experiences elsewhere over the past year I did start to question whether I should keep this booking or cancel. I’m so happy that I stuck to my guns and kept this booking. This is a little hotel, about a 20 minute walk from the train station. Hotel staff were extremely friendly and hospitable. The room was small, but with the added bonus of a fridge and little balcony. If I was to have one gripe about this hotel/room it would be the lack of available power points - I had to unplug the bedside lights in order to charge my devices. Despite the room itself being small, the bathroom was a decent size. The elevator is something of an experience, worth riding at least once! I would say the hotel is located on the edge of the old town, so there are plenty of bars and restaurants on the doorstep.
