Today, we wrapped up an exciting and insightful #SAGDay at the University of Dar es Salaam, part of Tanzania Startup Week. The day was dedicated to exploring innovation, collaboration, and driving digital transformation in Tanzania and across #Africa. The session began with a keynote speech by Larry Ayo, Business Lab Director at Smart Lab Larry highlighted key points shaping the digital economy, including: 💵 The $4 trillion global value of the digital economy. 👥 The potential of Tanzania’s youthful population, with 65% under 25 and growing internet access. 🛜 Challenges like rural internet penetration and gender inequities. 🤝 The critical role of building an innovation ecosystem, partnerships, and government policy support. He emphasised that talent is the missing link as technology advances. Sectors like ICT and construction need skills that can drive transformation. Larry’s call to action 👉🏿 Collaboration is key to unlocking Tanzania’s digital potential. Our panel discussion brought together brilliant minds to address "Driving Innovation and Digital Transformation." Panelists included: 👉🏿 Hawa Mwakatundu, sharing her expertise on policy and cross-sector partnerships. 👉🏿 Dr. Khadija Mkocha, discussing the role of academic innovation and STEM education. 👉🏿 Maria Magdalena Mwamyalla , highlighting how fintech can drive digital financial inclusion. 👉🏿 Pendo Michael lema, exploring strategies for empowering startups and entrepreneurs. They explored the opportunities and challenges of integrating technology into businesses and the workforce, providing essential takeaways for startups, businesses, and policymakers. Startups are at the heart of this transformation.
