This week, our ICT Workshop kicked off with incredible energy and creativity! Participants dove into the design cycle and emerged with FIVE groundbreaking ideas: * Real-time Overtaking Assistance * Pool Table Counter Notification System * Vein Viewer Device * Mini Microscope * Remote-Controlled Light Intensity for Phototherapy Adding to the excitement, we hosted an insightful session with the team from Enabel where participants shared their innovative concepts and received invaluable feedback! Three days to go before Giving Tuesday on 3 December, an annual initiative of GlobalGiving. Please support our goal of raising $10,000 USD to help us expand our workshop and makerspace facilities so we can train and mentor more young innovators. The Twende Design Lab (TD-Lab) will provide aspiring and accomplished innovators with additional resources and space to co-create innovations that solve local challenges. The multi-purpose building extension will provide an additional space that can be used as an innovation showroom, events space and training room. Twende will be able to host more events, deliver more training, and exhibit more innovations. Save the date 3 December and join us in supporting our Giving Tuesday goal. Twende is excited to participate in the GlobalGiving, Giving Tuesday, on Tuesday 3 December. We aim to raise $10,000 USD to help us expand our workshop and makerspace facilities so we can train and mentor more young innovators. Why this project? Our current facilities limit the number of workshops and participants we can serve, and don't currently meet demand. Expanding our space will allow us to offer more programs, showcase our innovators, and better support new entrepreneurial ventures. We will be better positioned to meet the demand for services in our communities. Global Giving is offering a $750,000 USD Incentive Fund to help us celebrate. Last week, we had the honor of hosting the Dutch Ambassador for Youth, Education, and Work Jurriaan Middelhoff at Twende! Our Board Chair Ellen Mndima, alongside the Twende team shared our story, mission, and the transformative impact of the Jamii Tech Incubation Program, during the visit we gave a tour of our Makerspace, showcasing innovations that are changing lives. The visit also extended to Green Venture LTD, one of the startup that emerged from one of our Programs in 2015. The ambassador witnessed firsthand how Twende's support has empowered innovators to drive change in their communities. In October, we had the privilege of working with Jon Daley, a Financial Management Volunteer, who brought invaluable expertise to our organization. From assessing and developing our financial systems to enhancing staff and executive financial capacity; his input has strengthened our internal controls and empowered our team. Beyond the office, Jon visited our Innovation Club, gaining firsthand experience of how we nurture creativity and problem-solving among students. It was truly inspiring to share our journey and programs with him. Thanks to our partnership with Accounting for International Development (AfID) for the support and Jon for making a lasting impact; we’re grateful for your time and commitment for Twende.  #TwendeSocilImpact #TwendeInnovates #TeamWork

The Innovation Club empowers secondary and high school students to dive into the world of innovation, giving them hands-on experience with real-world projects that address everyday challenges. Through engaging activities like design thinking and prototyping, students develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills that prepare them to make a meaningful impact. Club members work on a variety of practical projects that serve the community, from food processing tools to agricultural aids and home automation systems. One notable success is the “Beans Sorting Machine,” developed by students and now used at school to streamline sorting—a great example of how young innovators can create real solutions. Launched in 2022 with just 50 students and nine projects, the club has now grown to 130 students and 27 ongoing projects.
