WGNRR Africa's Peer Educators (PEs) under the Sauti Ya Vijana (SYV) project in Tanzania are making the waves! In its Monitoring By Walking Around (MBWA) approach, WGNRR Africa's team attended 3 impactful CSE sessions by 3 dedicated Peer Educators in 3 different schools in Mlimba District of Morogoro region. The visits are part of the ongoing monitoring and mentorship exercise undertaken by WGNRR Africa in different implementation districts of the implementation of the SYV project in Morogoro and Iringa regions/Tanzania. The visits consist of assessing PEs' ability to provide crucial SRHR information and gauging young people's awareness on the same. The results are in, and they're inspiring! 📊 Teacher Mlay from Miembeni Secondary School (one of the visited schools) shares: 'We appreciate the Peer Educators' efforts. They're not just providing SRHR information; they've established a club in our school. Before the project, we had a pregnancy case. But since this program started? Zero pregnancy or abortion. From school clubs to community outreach, Peer Educators are making a real difference. Want to be part of this life-changing journey? Join us in empowering youth and spreading #SRHR4ALL

At the Tanzania Health Summit 2024 our Regional Programs Manager delivered a powerful message on the transformative potential of strategic litigation in reforming Tanzania’s abortion laws. Drawing inspiration from across Africa, she shared compelling success stories👇 🇹🇿 Spotlighted the success of Rebeka Gyumi’s 2019 case in Tanzania, which used Article 6 of the Maputo Protocol to challenge child marriage laws 🇰🇪 Celebrated Kenya’s triumph in restoring safe abortion guidelines through litigation. 🇲🇼 Highlighted Malawi’s Nachingwe case influenced the development of the Termination of Pregnancy Bill. Despite legal challenges, Tanzania’s ratification of the Maputo Protocol without reservations gives us a key opportunity to push for clear laws that protect victims of rape, incest, and sexual assault to access Safe and Legal Abortion. #SRHR4All
