Hanna Hopko speaking at a Chatham House event in London, shared her vision while answering a question about security guarantees for Ukraine. She described her dream of hosting a Victory Summit in liberated Crimea, for example, in the city of Sevastopol, where Donald Trump could build one of his Trump Towers. Hanna emphasized that Crimea’s liberation would open opportunities for American companies to extract valuable resources in the Black Sea.

“Can anyone be sure that by paying Moscow today, they are not investing in missiles aimed at their cities tomorrow?” In their latest article, ICUV co-founder Olena Halushka and energy advocacy expert Victoria M. Voytsitska propose a bold solution to stop financing Russia’s war machine while ensuring sustainable support for Ukraine: a war tax on Russian LNG. The authors argue that this measure would not only cut Moscow’s profits but also provide a vital funding source for Ukraine’s defense and reconstruction, all while reducing Europe’s dependence on Russian energy. A practical and just way to make Russia pay for its aggression. Don’t miss this insightful read on how Europe can turn its energy dilemma into an opportunity to uphold justice and security https://lnkd.in/gX6uiZgB

Chatham House also known as the Royal Institute of International Affairs, is a renowned British think tank based in London. Dedicated to fostering global understanding, its mission is to support governments and societies in building a secure, prosperous, and equitable world for the future. Hanna Hopko recently visited Chatham House to participate in the event “Safeguarding Europe: How to Defeat and Deter Russia.” During the discussion, she responded to a pressing question, shedding light on the fears that drive hesitation among some European leaders in confronting Russia’s aggression.

ICUV’s Program Director, Iryna Krasnoshtan, participated in a closed expert event in Stockholm, organized by Institute for Security and Development Policy (ISDP) and United States Institute of Peace (USIP). The discussions focused on the implications of Sino-Russian cooperation amidst the ongoing war in Ukraine. Experts from the United States, Sweden, Latvia, Lithuania, Denmark, NATO representatives, and diplomats analyzed key questions: Will China’s close ties with Russia prolong the war or contribute to peace? Can economic incentives sway China to influence Russia toward ending the war? And should China, given its pre-war involvement in Ukraine through the Belt and Road Initiative, play a role in Ukraine’s post-war reconstruction? This forum provided a valuable platform to exchange insights on these pressing issues, helping shape strategies for Ukraine’s future and the broader global response to the challenges posed by Sino-Russian relations.

One more video from the Halifax Security Forum. Hanna Hopko had an important opportunity to convey to Western partners the truth about the so-called “peace negotiations” with Russia. She emphasized that the Russian regime uses such negotiations merely as a tool to buy time and prepare for new aggressive actions. Hanna also debunked the widespread myth that it would be cheaper for Western countries to allow Ukraine to lose. She stressed that only Ukraine’s victory can guarantee lasting peace and stability for the entire democratic world.

On her very first day as EU Commissioner for Enlargement, Marta Kos visited Kyiv alongside António Costa and Kaja Kallas. In her statement on X, she declared: “We are here with a powerful message: Ukraine, you can count on Europe’s unwavering and strong support on your path to freedom, peace, and a fully European future.” During their visit, Hanna Hopko, co-founder of ICUV and Alyona Getmanchuk, Director at New Europe Center, had the opportunity to meet with Kos Marta, António Costa, Kaja Kallas, and Katarina Mathernova, Ambassador of the European Union to Ukraine. The meeting underscored the unity and seriousness of our allies in their commitment to supporting Ukraine during these critical times. The discussion revolved around several pressing priorities for Ukraine’s path forward: 💰#MAKERUSSIAPAY - Redirecting confiscated Russian assets to support Ukraine’s defense efforts is crucial for strengthening its military capabilities. Transforming Ukraine into a hub for defense and innovation is not only vital for its own security but also for ensuring peace and stability across Europe. 🛡Protecting civilians and critical infrastructure remains a top priority as Ukrainian cities face relentless missile and drone attacks. Enhancing Ukraine’s air defense systems is an urgent necessity to safeguard lives and prevent further destruction. 🔋 Imposing a comprehensive energy embargo on Russia is a powerful tool to undermine its ability to finance aggression. This move also creates opportunities for Ukraine and the EU to achieve greater energy independence, ensuring long-term security and fostering deeper collaboration.

The Belgrade Security Conference hosted a compelling panel titled “War and Democracy: Political Development in Eastern Europe in Light of Russian Aggression.” Among the speakers was Iryna Krasnoshtan, Program Director of ICUV. Iryna reminded the audience that Ukraine is a democracy at war, fiercely defending the democratic values of the Western world. She also shed light on the barbaric methods Russia employs in its warfare, exposing the stark brutality of its actions against Ukraine and its people.
