🔥 Volunteers removed 3 tons of garbage from the national reserve! On February 2, UAnimals volunteers kicked off the first cleanup of the year in Khortytsia in Zaporizhzhia. More than 60 people joined the effort to help restore nature. In just three hours, the team collected an astonishing three tons of waste, glass, plastic, and rusty cans, that had surfaced as the water level in the Dnipro dropped. 🐾 UAnimals organized transportation, ensuring participants could travel to and from the island with ease. Volunteers were equipped with gloves and garbage bags, and after the cleanup, they enjoyed tea and cookies as a small token of appreciation. Caring for nature is always important!

Real reality headset presented at international climate conference 🌱 During the UN Climate Conference (COP29), Ukrainian organizations presented a 3D installation exposing the environmental toll of russian environmental crimes on Ukraine and the world. The installation featured “real reality headsets,” which allowed conference attendees to witness not a fictional virtual world but the stark reality of the environmental consequences of war: dolphin deaths in the Black Sea, forest fires and killed animals, the destruction of the Kakhovka HPP dam, attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, and the looming threat of a nuclear disaster at a power plant. Supported by the International Renaissance Foundation and CEO Club, the installation was showcased by Ukrainian organizations UAnimals and Save Dnipro, representing Ukraine at the annual UN climate conference (COP) from November 11–22, 2024. During the conference, 197 countries and the European Union are working to devise the best solutions for combating climate change. Thanks to Ukraine’s Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources, these Ukrainian organizations were included in COP29's official delegation. While the world has fought for decades to combat climate change, a single day of russian aggression undermines those efforts. For instance, in 2023, the European Union invested €116 million in environmental protection, while one day of war costs Ukraine’s environment €102 million. 🗣"Even when hostilities stop, when shells and missiles stop exploding, humanity will still feel the consequences of russian crimes against the environment. Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, UAnimals has been seeking to recognize ecocide as a crime and calls on the world to act now. Reality is not created by artificial intelligence but by people. The future we will inhabit depends on us. For now, our reality is a world where russia destroys everything around it with impunity,” said Oleksandr Todorchuk, founder of UAnimals.

UAnimals helped to open a veterinary facility for sick horses in the Dnipropetrovsk region 🐎 The facility will treat horses that have received a second chance at life at Pegasus shelter, as they were rescued either from the war or slaughter. Many of these horses suffer from respiratory, leg, cardiovascular issues, and some even battle cancer. The facility took approximately $50,000 and three months to build, thanks to your generous donations and support from Humane Society International. Treating horses is complex and costly, often requiring either a mobile vet visit to their stable or difficult transportation to a hospital. Now, they have a dedicated space for healing❤️ In addition to horses, Pegasus is home to 800 other domestic, pets and wild animals. We are grateful to every person who contributed! 

📍 A march against russian ecocide in Ukraine took place in Warsaw. On October 19, activists marched through the streets of Warsaw to remind the world about russia’s environmental crimes. The march included powerful speeches delivered in Ukrainian, Polish, and English, among them such key speakers as Jacek Grzegorz Wiśniewski from the Committee for the Defence of Democracy, Katarzyna Bilewska from GreenPeace and Mikołaj Petryga from Euromaidan-Warsaw. Currently, 30% of Ukraine is covered with landmines, equivalent to 58% of Poland’s territory. Clearing these areas and stopping russia’s offensive requires international support. ❗️Nature has no borders! That is why UAnimals has been organizing events worldwide since 2022. The march was co-organized by UAnimals and Euromaidan-Warsaw, with support from the International Renaissance Foundation. Over 100 people joined the march, and we’re grateful for their solidarity. This month was nothing short of extraordinary!😍 If we tried to capture everything we accomplished in just 31 days, it would be an epic movie—long, but worth every minute. From evacuating animals and spaying/neutering to feeding, rebuilding, and so much more, we tackled it all together with you. ⚡️⚡️15 tons of garbage were collected by fantastic UAnimals volunteers during the CleanUp Day! On July 27, 300 people gathered across five national parks and reserves in Ukraine to help care for the environment 🌳 At each location, emergency workers provided instructions on mine safety, proper conduct in protected areas, and the importance of safe outdoor recreation without leaving open fires. Thank you for keeping both us and nature safe! Now, these 15 tons of garbage will no longer harm our environment, animals, or plants. Every day, russia causes devastation, destroying lives and habitats. At UAnimals, we are dedicated to saving animals from the war and supporting nature's survival in every way possible. This CleanUp Day, our third successful event of this kind, proves that we can protect our country's environment no matter the circumstances.

For the first time, a Ukrainian column joined the largest environmental march in the UK 🌱🐾 On June 22, about 60 thousand people gathered on the streets of London as part of the Restore Nature Now march. Ukrainian demonstrators, supported by UAnimals and Campaign for Ukraine, marched with the slogan "Together against ecocide in Ukraine". Ukrainian activists called for global response against the ecocide being committed by russia in Ukraine, emphasizing the urgent need for action. In total, about 350 organizations joined the protest to encourage the British government to pay more attention to protecting biodiversity. Do not stay silent about crimes against nature in Ukraine. To stop them, the world needs to be aware of them!
