Exciting things are happening in Lutsk. Yesterday was the moment of the open lecture and workshop “Develop Lutsk” as part of the Urban Vision Lutsk project. Together with local partners urban reform, algorytm.ngo, experts, the public, we are exploring new ways to shape Lutsk’s urban future. The focus? Creating a unified city ecosystem, unlocking economic potential, and discussing projects that can make a real difference. It's crucial to begin discussing the future of Ukraine now, as this is our chance to shape a stronger Ukraine, and we're proud to be part of a project dedicated to this vision.

ORG’s Alexander D'Hooghe and Hendrik Bloem will be in Ukraine next week with local partners algorytm.ngo and urban reform for a 2-day event, within the framework of the first urban study of the city of Lutsk, the Urban Vision Lutsk project. The goal of this event is to bring people together to sharpen and deepen the vision and work on implementation strategies, both with local experts and the public. These 2 days will create a space to share experiences, knowledge, and discuss how Lutsk can develop in urban planning, and what the main principles of city development and reconstructing Ukraine might be. Alexander will give a lecture on the topic of Urban Planning as a Pathway to inclusion, progress, and security, followed by a workshop titled “What projects can change Lutsk”. It’s important to start the conversation about the new Ukraine now, to think about the future as now is the chance to start shaping the future and make Ukraine stronger and we are very happy to be part of a project that has this vision at heart. Five events with residents of five Ukrainian communities In August, our team got to know better the communities (hromadas) that are participating in the Common Future project: - Chuhuivska - Zmiivska - Pereschepynska - Verkhnodniprovska - Korostenska We held meetings with local governments and signed a memorandum of cooperation. We met with local residents at workshops where we presented the project and conducted joint community mapping. It was a pleasure to see active citizens who care about the future of their communities and who were not hindered from productively conducting the workshop even by a power outage, as in Pereschepynska hromaga. Now we will work with the request that we received from local residents. We learned about the strengths of the communities, weaknesses, points where people gravitate and those they try to avoid. We will explore what changes the community needs, what the locals want. The Common Future project is implemented by the NGO "Urban Reform" within the framework of the Civic Engagement Support Program "Get Involved!", which is funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and implemented by Pact in Ukraine. The content of the project is the sole responsibility of Pact and its partners and does not necessarily reflect the views of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) or the US government.

We are happy to start the Common Future project. In this project, we will be working with five war-affected communities over the course of a year to create ideas of future development with the community. As a result of an open call, the Urban Reform team has selected 5 hromadas: - Chuhuivska - Zmiivska - Perekyshynska - Verkhnodniprovska - Korostenska In the selection process, we focused on the number of residents in the community, IDPs, the level of damage from hostilities, and the openness of the local government to cooperation. We are happy to select active communities that are eager to develop and are ready to look to the future. Our main focus will be on engaging residents in community development. Throughout the year, our team will work to find solutions to rebuild the destruction caused by the war and develop future development vectors. A comprehensive urban study of the community will be conducted with the involvement of active local communities, development plans for the community will be developed based on joint work with local communities, and trainings will be conducted to strengthen communities in the areas of urban development. An important focus is to build transparent and trusting relationships between residents and local administrations of communities in the decision-making process. Throughout the project, various events, planning workshops, interviews, joint discussions, and exhibitions will contribute to this.

#BikesForUkraine: 1827 Bicycles Delivered to Volunteers, Medics, Social Workers, and Children This number of bicycles has been delivered over the two years of the #BikesForUkraine campaign – an international humanitarian initiative that emerged in response to a request from volunteers. Bicycles are almost the only mode of transport in communities that were affected by war, allowing people to get around where there are no roads or fuel. Thanks to #BikesForUkraine, 73 war-affected communities in the Kyiv, Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Donetsk, Kherson, Mykolaiv, and other regions of Ukraine have become more mobile. They are able to receive the assistance they need more quickly, including humanitarian aid. We are happy to be among the participating organizations together with U-Cycle (Kyiv Cyclists' Association), Еко Місто, Sumy Extreme Style, NGO FORZA, NGO Velovector, VeloFormat, CargoCult e-cargo bike delivery , lifecycle.kyiv.
